Beat City Fall Concert Series

Through a collaborative effort, Live Nation and Live Nation are presenting a brand new concert series:

BEAT CITY

Thanks to some local generosity, most of these shows will take place at our usual haunt—that familiar bar/club scene located right in the heart of the NSBA district. Between the warmth of the city and various municipal supports, much of the drink revenue helps fund these events, meaning they are essentially subsidized by taxpayers; this allows those who might otherwise struggle to afford a night out, or even those who simply prefer not to spend their own money, to walk in and enjoy the music completely free of charge.

To be clear, this doesn't apply to the shows at The Fillmore—you’ll still have to pay for those, so don't complain.

With that said, we are offering you a diverse selection ranging from the young and contemporary to the seasoned, the obscure, the cult favorites, and everything from garage and rock to punk, noise, and post-punk:

Columbo sent over their promotional blurb, and since I’ve already spent enough energy arguing about the previous post—plus I really need to get my laundry hanging up before I crash—I’m just going to paste it here. They’re trying a bit too hard to be funny, but don't hold it against them; they are, after all, German, so just come out and enjoy the music.

Zhod is an ex 2 ex 2 actually 4 PIECE born in The mad but excellent bionic brain of som Guy called Rokko Anal - Who claims to be The First inhuman being that created a human(lookin) band to spread his debile but Genius plans all over the human race.

Of course everyone knows that this is bullshit , because everyone knows and obeys man or Astroman.

Trapped within a sticky ( thumbs up ) Situation between cultural damaged goods such as monstertrucks, jabba the butt, the mae shi, the famous Crocodile rock n roll Club, volume, and of course mincemeat - the mighty zhod are struggling for an identity consisting of Rather untraditional reverb-drenched guitars, spreading fuzz, Feedbacks, hyperactive lightspeed drumming, straight edge bass, theremin and crackling toy sounds.
You may ask yourself or your secretary now - are they contributing anything to this world, that they are taking so much from?

Next up, we've got viva L'American Death Ray Music coming through! Honestly, they're just as solid as most of the other acts on this list. Pretty great!

I've had a few too many drinks, so I'm having a hard time keeping track... was tomorrow really September 15th? 🤔

Honestly, things are just the way they always are—my coffee tastes like sludge, the faucet in the bathroom is leaking everywhere, and I’ve got errands to run that I really don't feel like doing 🙏

Why aren't you using the standard concert listing format everyone else uses? 😳

Wait, I'm just now seeing this—you guys are actually bringing garage rock straight from Puerto Rico 🙏 🙏 🙏God, that’s just incredible... it has to be the law!

Solid group, they’ve got a thousand people in the band!

THIS song is definitely my favorite. I doubt they play it live since it's just so mellow and beautiful. <3

Since I don't have the same level of clout as Mate, I’m sticking to a more informative approach here 😬

And honestly, those artists from Puerto Rico are going to be incredible—think of them as a sort of fusion between Black Lips and Ricky Martin 🤔

It's also quite a coincidence that we have two six-piece bands playing back-to-back; I'm not entirely sure how that's going to fit into the overall schedule.

Don't sweat it, there won't be much of a crowd anyway...😁

Why'd you go ahead and delete the post just so nobody catches wind of which concert was added? 🙂Nah, it wasn't that guy—he was playing at the local dive bar recently, I think. I definitely recognize that Gagarin dude from his time on MySpace, and this Mushnik guy shows up in the band credits too 😕

Now that you mention it, I’m starting to see the resemblance too 🤔

I was actually a bit thrown off by the name; they have that Gagarin vibe going on, yet there isn't any actual connection to Gagarin Records. They don't quite hit that heavy electronic mark, either.

I think I remember hearing about some Gagarin fellow being mentioned in a medical journal once

I honestly think if I’d had enough time to sit down and really listen before the announcement dropped, I would have said they sound like a dystopian track with just two extra instruments added—maybe then you'd see an extra couple of people showing up at the show.

Anyway, when it comes to a picture book, let it just be a picture book. Here is a little story for you:

I don’t mean to toot my own horn, though this isn't really about me—but honestly, that American indie act was fantastic tonight. If the guy running the show had actually given me a heads-up, I would have done my best to spread the word, but as it stands, you probably had about five people there who actually intended to be there, plus maybe twenty others just wandering in.
In the grand tradition of those old underground scenes back when we used to hunt for weird bands, this collection of bizarre American sounds deserved some serious oral history. If things had gone differently, we might have found ourselves looking out at a crowd and wondering, "Who are these people?" instead. As it is, nobody is going to come back for a second look, which is a real shame.

A synthesizer blur mixed with Down syndrome and Frankenstein's monster? Why didn't they give me a description like that to use?
