Hey everyone,

I’ve been dealing with some pretty tight skin on my foreskin, which makes penetration really uncomfortable during sex sometimes.
It feels like the only real fix is to just get circumcised.

On top of that, I’ve read that being circumcised can actually lower the risk of contracting HIV since there's less micro-trauma to the tissue from stretching.

I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences? I'm looking for advice on where to go for this, how risky the procedure actually is, and if the recovery is as painful as people say.

Thanks in advance for any help with such a sensitive topic. 🙂

I was actually wondering about this too...

Does anyone know how long the wait times actually are for surgery (or whatever you want to call the procedure) when you're seeing doctors through the public healthcare system?

First off, you really need to sit down and ask yourself if this is something you actually want—and what exactly your goal is.
There are basically two different issues at play here.
1. A tight foreskin, which is typically handled via circumcision, though there are various ways to approach it—you can opt for a more conservative or a more extensive procedure.
2. A short frenulum—if that area starts stretching too much or tearing, then you might just need a localized surgery to fix that specific issue.
As for HIV, I don't think there’s a significant difference in risk, unless you're suggesting that a smaller surface area somehow limits exposure...
But again, that's just my take on it.

I think they were actually referring to HPV here...

HPV can actually be transmitted even when using a condom, so whether a guy is circumcised or not doesn't really change much... just a bit of skin-to-skin contact is enough... and let's face it, condoms don't cover nearly enough surface area anyway.... plus, men rarely even realize they're carrying HPV, unless they happen to have those low-risk types that cause visible warts.
If a guy is the type who enjoys gambling with his health, I guess he could just tell himself there's a slightly lower risk of contracting HIV if he's circumcised...

My little guy was circumcised when he was just a day old. Everything went smooth as silk under local anesthesia, and honestly, he didn't cry any more than any other newborn would. Since we live in a Muslim-majority part of the US, the doctors here deal with this all the time and really know their stuff. If I were you, I’d definitely hunt down someone who performs this procedure constantly, not just some doc who does it once every few months, because it feels like it's not even that common among guys here in the States.

Then again—everything serves a purpose. If God hadn't intended for it to be there, well, He wouldn't have designed it that way in the first place.☕

So, I guess you don't bother shaving, cutting your nails, or grooming yourself either?😁
By that logic, you probably wouldn't even shower, because if God didn't intend for us to smell, He wouldn't have given us sweat glands...😁

Just wanted to share my experience with the urologist—surgery is scheduled for next week, I’ll be heading home about two hours after the procedure, then there's a follow-up in a week, and a final check-in in a month, so we'll just see how things go from there.🙂

The surgery itself is a little stingy, but honestly, the scariest part is just getting that large dose of anesthesia injected into the penis, though surprisingly, that injection doesn't hurt at all. You'll feel some soreness and stinging for about a day, but it isn't anything too intense.

Wishing you the best of luck.👋

Right?
That was quick, I suppose. Pretty cool. 🙂
It’s actually quite unusual for our healthcare system to move at this pace, if I'm being honest, but if the information is accurate... where exactly is this happening? Also, would anyone happen to have a recommendation for a decent, reliable state-employed doctor who isn't particularly fussy? I'd appreciate any leads.🙂

Don't take this lightly, either.
You can run into all sorts of questionable doctors in our hospital systems, though I really shouldn't go into the specifics right now...

I’m dealing with something similar myself (the skin slides forward just fine, but pulling it back is a struggle because the opening is just a hair too tight to clear the glans). I’ve spent quite a bit of time digging through the internet for answers.

To start you off, here are a few images showing what the procedure actually looks like:
http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic28...ction~pictures

As you can see from the photos, it doesn't look great at all. They clamp the skin down with forceps to minimize the bleeding, then they go in with a scalpel, and finally, they put in some stitches—honestly, I don't even get why the stitches are necessary. The whole thing looks incredibly bloody, and who knows how long recovery actually takes? They claim it's a week, but when a doctor says "one week," they usually mean you aren't in agony anymore, though you might still be feeling it for a month before things truly settle down.

Circumcision is a pretty radical move, but it isn't necessarily the only one. You can find more details here:
http://www.cirp.org/library/treatment/phimosis/

In short: besides the knife, you can try using a steroid cream combined with manual stretching. I know, sounds gross, but I’d much rather handle the stretching myself than have some surgeon who couldn't care less about my comfort carving me up with a blade.

The biggest issue, which the pro-surgery crowd tends to gloss over, is this: plenty of guys who were circumcised as kids ended up having major issues with tissue sensitivity once the area was no longer covered. Without the foreskin, there's constant contact with your underwear, and for some people, that’s pure misery for months until they finally adjust.

At the end of the day, doctors generally don't give a damn; options exist, you just have to find them. And by the time you actually need a doctor's help, you're already in a tight spot.

A friend of mine went in for a circumcision procedure recently. He mentioned that there wasn't any pain on the actual day of the surgery, but the discomfort didn't hit him until the following morning. Apparently, the only real issue was when he tried to get intimate; if he got an erection, it felt like absolute hell😲

Maybe you should just avoid watching anything provocative after the operation😁

At the end of the day, the biggest thing those advocates for the procedure won't tell you is this: tons of guys who grew up having been circumcised deal with massive issues regarding tissue sensitivity because that area used to be protected by the foreskin. Once that's gone, you're constantly in contact with your underwear, and honestly, for some people, it’s a total nightmare for months until they finally adjust.

That’s actually my biggest fear! And if I'm being totally honest, the main reason I haven't just pulled the trigger on it yet is because I couldn't handle the exam (though, granted, I was a bit of a nervous wreck mentally back then).

I think I might actually go ahead and try to book an appointment with that Captain. I told my mom to give him a call, but she said he's on vacation until August 25th... and man, I really don't want him to mess up my upcoming school year. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly! 😕
