😠 😠 😠

I have an HP Envy printer... and I am losing my mind here. The thing is practically brand new; it hasn't even printed 100 pages yet.
It works for a little while... then my laptop just stops recognizing it entirely. I keep getting this error and this one as well. 😲 😠

Take today, for example... I connect it to the laptop, and it actually WORKS 😍 at first. It starts printing, gets halfway through a page, and then suddenly this USB Device Not Recognized notification pops up. 😲 😠
When I click on that alert... this shows up.

I know for a fact it isn't a problem with the USB port because my internet via USB stick works perfectly fine. I've already tried all four ports and they work. I even went out and bought a brand new USB cable for the printer, thinking that was the culprit... but the exact same thing keeps happening. πŸ™„

It’s weird, though... if you haven't been plugging random junk into your USB ports and everything was fine before, I don't see what else it could be besides the printer itself acting up.
Try uninstalling the driver, running a quick cleanup with something like CCleaner to wipe out any leftover junk, and then just reinstall everything from scratch following the manual...

Check the cableβ€”make sure it actually says USB 2.0 on it. I once spent days losing my mind because both my printer and scanner were glitching out, only to realize I was using an ancient USB 1.1 cable...

If none of that works, then yeahβ€”it's time to head to the repair shop...

Are you sure it isn't the USB port itself? Not the cableβ€”the actual port.
Try plugging it into a different slot, and swap out the cable too, just to be safe. Just test everything until you figure out where the failure is, then replace whatever part is acting up.

Could also be an issue with the printer itself... 🀷

Try plugging it into a different slot, and swap out the cable just to be safe. You need to troubleshoot systematically to isolate the failure point before deciding which part actually needs replacing.

It could also be an internal hardware failure within the printer. 🀷

I have already tested all four ports on my laptop...

The internet works perfectly fine through my USB dongle using those same ports, so the connection there is stable.🀷

My father is taking it to a service center today since it is still under warranty, πŸ˜‰ so I will
see what the technicians have to say about it.

The printer finally came back from the repair shop... It turns out the hardware itself is perfectly fine, but the issue was actually just a faulty USB cable.

The unit is barely two or three months old, yet this is already the third USB cable we've had to buy. 😠 πŸ™„

I honestly don't understand how these things can "break" every single month...

It's enough to make you lose your mind. 😠

I’ve got the same printer and ran into that exact same headache. Honestly, just try unplugging the cable from the printer itself and plugging it back inβ€”that was the fix for me...

I’ve had this HP Envy for about a month now, and suddenly it’s started leaving these ugly lines right through the middle of my text.
Is there any way to fix this? And could it be because I'm using third-party ink? If so, can anyone suggest a decent brand that actually works?

Thanks πŸ™‚
Please, I really need some help hereβ€”I have a massive amount of printing to get through over the next few days.😒

Is there any way to fix this? Could it be because I'm using off-brand ink? If so, can anyone recommend a good one?

Thanks πŸ™‚
Please help me out, I have a ton of stuff to print over the next few days.😒

1. Grab some Paper Mate replacement cartridges.
2. Take the chip off the problematic cartridge along with its little base.
3. Pop that base into the cleaning tray.
4. Print out some text or just a big solid square in that color until you see things getting better.
5. If it’s still acting up, just let it sit like that for a week and then try the whole thing again.
6. Put the chip back onto your original Paper Mate ink cartridge.

Sound complicated?

Do you have that HP printer app installed? The one where you can check ink levels and all that?

If you do, there’s a "head cleaning" option right in the menu... just run it 2 or 3 times and see if that fixes it.

I’m totally lost when it comes to these cartridges :S
And regarding this app... it shows me how much ink I have left while I'm printing... but I can't find that cleaning setting anywhere

I've tried running that cleaning cycle more than a few times now, but even after all that, the printouts are still coming out with those damn lines on them.

Well, I give up... I pushed my HP Envy way past its limit...

I'm just sticking with Orink ink. It does the job fine enough...

I'm taking it. orink The ink is fine... I guess.

Ugh, tell me about it. I'm stuck with that one too. :S
Honestly, I just can't catch a break when it comes to printers... this is officially my third one. 😒

So I’ve got an HP Envy too... just popped in my first set of third-party cartridges today. The printer is basically brand new, only two weeks old, but when I hit stop to run the cycle, nothing happened. So I swapped them out, hit stop again to let it do its thingβ€”you know, that whole 2 or 3 minute ritualβ€”and now it’s printing photos in these weird colors, like everything is neon pink or whatever. It’ll print text, sure, but then there are these massive blank gaps every few inches. I'm lost. Should I try running the head cleaning program?

P.S. I'm using the HP Envy, but the instructions are for the HP Envy.

Is the weird coloring because of the instructions, or am I actually doing something right?

P.S. I'm using an HP Envy, but the manual is for an HP Envy.

Is the manual being wrong the problem, or is this actually okay?

What else did you mention besides having an HP Envy?

I cleaned everything out... finally thought I was good to go... now the printer won't even see the black ink. So I pop in a fresh cartridge... nothing. I try another brand new one... suddenly it sees the black, but now the blue is invisible. I pull the same one back out and put it in again... now it can't find the yellow. Now it won't recognize blue OR yellow. It's driving me insane.

HELP ME!!!!!!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!

Is the printer connected to the internet through your computer?

Why do I ask?

Because it was recently discovered that some manufacturers push firmware resets over the web.

YOU WON'T FIND ANYTHING OFFICIAL ABOUT THIS, OBVIOUSLY:

Basically, you have to use cartridges that haven't been "infected" by those kinds of firmware updates.
