My PC case is making a weird buzzing sound :o

So, I recently swapped out my case—just the chassis/shell, mind you—and after about two or three days, this strange humming noise started creeping in. I’ve checked everything, and I'm fairly certain it isn't the hard drive or any individual component (well, I *hope* it isn't), but it’s driving me crazy. The weird part is that whenever the buzzing starts up, if I just give the tower a little "tap" or shift it a couple of inches, the noise immediately dies down. 😳Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

First, ensure your power supply is properly seated and check if any cables are making contact with the chassis or the PSU housing... Also, that buzzing could be an early sign of a failing hard drive; you might want to test it with a spare unit to see if the noise persists.

It’s possible something loosened up while you were mounting the case; it seems odd that you weren't hearing that buzzing sound before everything was closed up.
Maybe it's just a loose screw near the power supply or the GPU—I actually fell for that once myself, assuming my drive had failed, only to realize I just needed to do a bit more digging inside the chassis.

None of those answers above are right, and trust me, I know because I've been dealing with this exact headache... Your issue is actually the CPU fan. Those things are super sensitive when you move a PC around—it probably got knocked out of balance or something similar. It’s the same crap happening with my rig. Since I’m too lazy to buy a new one and I really don't want to tear the old one apart just to deal with buying thermal paste, I ended up jamming a piece of a toothbrush in there to steady it. Now the buzzing is gone. Look, you’ve got two separate issues here. First, that "buzzing"? It could literally just be a cheap, flimsy case with big flat panels that aren't dampened properly. Especially if the case is way too big for what's inside—if there's a lot of empty space, those panels start vibrating in resonance with something else, like a fan, the hard drive, or the power supply. You can figure out where it's coming from by touching the "right" spot until the noise stops, or moving the box until it sits differently. A quick fix might be swapping a bad fan or putting rubber mounts on your hard drives...
You can easily find which fan is the culprit by just stopping it for a second with your finger...

But the second issue is way more serious: the electrical stinging. If you're 100% sure you installed everything correctly (because if there was a short circuit, you would've fried everything by now), then you have a massive problem with your home's electrical wiring. That stuff can actually be life-threatening.
It sounds like there's an issue with the grounding somewhere. Find an electrician to check it out immediately... seriously, don't wait.

Regarding the shocks—it's only happened a couple of times, and honestly, it was only on the very edges of the case, so I feel like the house wiring is probably fine... Is it possible the issue is just that the cable running from the power button and the front USB ports is touching the bottom of the chassis?

Unless some neighborhood dogs actually chewed through the cable in contact with it... I mean, there’s supposed to be insulation, right? xD

It happens at the corners too, since that’s where the metal is bent and usually lacks that insulating paint, or maybe those are just live screws.
All the voltage coming from the PSU into the PC is between 3.3 and 12V, so there's zero chance that's what's giving you those shocks. Plus, the power button isn't going to interrupt 120V.
And seriously, think about it: if the main power cord was actually stripped and touching the case, what do you think would happen?
That would mean a direct short circuit. It would be like holding the power button down constantly, and the PC would just loop in an endless boot/reset cycle... Did they skip basic logic class in school or something? Use your head!

Honestly, it feels like all they teach us in school is how to use Word and Excel—it’s honestly such a shame what our education system is doing to these kids 😁 I'll get around to fixing it soon enough, but it seems like neither the stinging nor the buzzing has stopped for at least two days now... if you ask me, I think the issue lies with the armor plating, because I remember back when I was wearing my old gear, I didn't deal with any of that stinging or buzzing nonsense at all. 😵
