There is a distinct lack of coverage regarding them here, which I find frankly unjustified... They are a truly magnificent band. It is true that their quality has dipped somewhat over the years, yet they possess an incredibly prolific history! I highly recommend them!

"Ocean Spray" is from "Know Your Enemy," which isn't half bad, though you'd probably vibe more with "This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours."
I gotta admit, I never actually picked up the albums where Richey played, so I'm pretty out of the loop on their early stuff—aside from a few tracks like "Motorcycle Emptiness" or "Suicide Is Painless."

I bet there's some track where he's just totally out of his mind too. He played.Jokes aside, The Holy Bible is hands down their best work, while Gold Against the Soul is easily their weakest. That said, every single one of their albums has some absolute gems on it. Once Richey stepped out to grab a pack of smokes, they didn't really lose their musical edge, but man, the songwriting took a massive hit. Just as a heads-up regarding those Ocean Spray lyrics, it actually wasn't Nicky or Richey who penned them—it was James Dean Bradfield, writing about losing a parent.

If you actually dug Ocean Spray, I’m thinking you might vibe with these other tracks too.

Are all their tracks just Ocean Spray clones? Not even close. Honestly, they’re probably the most stylistically diverse band to ever exist. I don't necessarily claim the songs mentioned as my personal favorites either. But if you want some real advice—just go grab The Holy Bible and take it from there. Everything they do, even the stuff that might not immediately blow you away, will likely resonate once you have that foundation. It gives you the musical, lyrical, and pop-culture context needed to actually appreciate their more accessible work, so you won't be sitting there making silly comparisons between Ocean Spray and Lemon Tree.

And honestly, I’d say Gold Against the Soul is totally underrated🙄... just a bunch of gems from Sleepflower, everything from Despair to Where, Life Becoming a Landslide... all the way up to that nostalgic Pushead vibe😎

I don't know if lonemarlin4 would actually dig The Holy Bible right after Ocean Spray... honestly, I feel like it might be a bit too heavy for her taste

You could basically strip the whole thing down and call it a killer EP, but the second half of the album is filled with such absolute garbage that even someone as jaded as me finds it hard to sit through.

Some folks I was hanging out with that evening mentioned there was some kind of show happening—they weren't quite sure of the details, just implying it was some obscure little band... so I asked them for the name, and can you believe it?!
