Quick question

So, I’ve actually been part of this community for quite a while now, even though I’m using a new handle.
I had a previous account that was permanently banned about two years ago, back when I was still figuring out how everything worked here. It was honestly just a mistake on my part regarding how to start a thread.

I truly don't understand how a permanent ban could be handed out just because I didn't know the proper way to format a post.

For instance, there is another user who constantly posts completely nonsensical threads on the EPA every few days, yet isn't banned—certainly not permanently.

I would sincerely appreciate a specific explanation regarding this decision!

Honestly, it sounds kind of sketchy that you got banned just for opening a thread the wrong way. 🤷

Since you already admitted you're a clone of someone who was permanently banned, why not just drop the old username? Let's see if that person actually deserved the ban or not.

I started the thread totally normally.
But then I had second thoughts and tried to wipe all the text—basically trying to delete the whole topic. To this day, I honestly still don't know if that's even allowed.

It was that "undo" thing when posting a thread. 🤷
The whole topic was just about some silly relationship drama I was dealing with.

Back then, the moderator just told me that I knew why it happened.
Anyway, the reason I'm bringing this up is because Cindy is constantly popping up with ridiculous threads over at the EPA and hasn't been banned, let alone permanently.

By the way, that was my very first username on this forum. And I truly had no idea what she meant when she wrote that I knew why.

At the time, I just shrugged my shoulders and let it go.

The thing is, users here don't have the option to delete their own threads once they're live. That’s why you really have to sleep on it before hitting that "post" button. 🙂

If that's truly the only reason behind the rules, I honestly feel like they could handle it in a much less heavy-handed way.

I’ve no clue who banned you before or what the deal was, but we have a "new" mod team now, which means the whole way the EPA is moderated has changed.

Generally speaking, the logic of "why was I banned before when someone else can post stupid stuff and stay active" is a bit shaky, but regardless, Cindy actually got a warning from Ares during that last ridiculous thread, noting that the next time it happens, they're getting hit with a direct sanction.

He's just one example.
Like I mentioned earlier, it really just got me thinking, you know?
Two years ago, I never got an answer, but now I finally have, so everything is fine.

Back then, a tiny mistake led to a permanent ban, which left me pretty shaken up, so I just wanted some clarity on it.

The main thing is that the moderation team is actually improving. lol
