Rhinoplasty: Experiences and recovery tips?

The skin right under my surgical incision is completely red, irritated, and just looks trashed. And honestly, the woman I mentioned before? She was absolutely wonderful. So, I can tell you from direct experience: different people, different reactions, and totally different results when it comes to these operations.

I’m still dealing with this too; everything around my nose feels so rough... at first, I thought it was just from the adhesive on the tape, but the sensation hasn't changed one bit.

I’m not even getting my consultation until two months from now. Next week, I’ve got an appointment for lymphatic drainage at Nada Kovač's salon. This girl has the perfect tip on her nose, whereas mine is just slightly upturned. Look, we can discuss all of this in a month or two once we actually see how things play out.

Does anyone actually know what works for soothing damaged skin after removing a mold? I need something that'll speed up the healing process.

So, what’s the deal with this drainage issue...?

They absolutely insist on doing the drainage at Glumičić’s place. A girl I know mentioned how relaxing it actually is. Apparently, it's some kind of nasal massage—I'm not even sure if they use a water jet or a combination technique—designed to speed up the whole recovery process. I'll let you know once I've actually gone there.

Does anyone know how much the surgery costs?

My doctor actually recommended Bepanthen cream. It’s the stuff they use on babies, and honestly, it worked wonders for me. I used it specifically on the areas where my stitches were removed... works great.🍿

Ariana Grande is essentially just like those little electrical stimulators that get the fluid moving, followed by a really nice massage... honestly, it’s no big deal! There’s zero pain involved—it actually feels quite pleasant—and the woman running the place is wonderful (the owner herself, specifically)... at least, that was my experience for nine years while I was going through all of this... good luck to you!!! Oh, and just a heads-up: if the swelling doesn't subside and the fluid stays put, they might suggest hydrocortisone injections (I had to get them a few times)... I've mentioned that on previous threads before...

stormyraven46, where did you go for your drainage sessions? How long does a single treatment actually take? Prices vary wildly. Some places charge $33 for a quick 30-minute session, but the ones I called are asking $83 for a full hour. Is an hour even necessary?

Jesse Taylor7, what exactly is going on with your skin? Are we looking at broken capillaries here? What was his take—is it actually going to clear up?

Good grief, that was over nine years ago, so I really don't know how much useful information I can actually give you... I had my surgery with Leonardo DiCaprio, and he refers everyone to his friend's place, the Meryl Streep salon... I think I went about once a month, but don't quote me on that... I can't recall the prices at all, though it wasn't exactly cheap, especially since I was going every single day... but, credit where credit is due, they do a fantastic job... very comfortable, very attentive... do you have their number? Just call them, explain why you're coming in, and you'll get your answer... good luck!!!

Jesse Taylor7 and Jerry Torres74, I am seriously so happy to hear you both are feeling better and that your recoveries are going smoothly... how is your breathing holding up? That’s the main thing on my mind right now. Also, does anyone have any recommendations on where to go for those pre-op checkups—you know, the internal medicine stuff, the EKG, and all that? Ideally somewhere I can just use my insurance referral and not sit in a waiting room for three hours... 🙂

Breathing feels great for now. My nose is still a bit stuffed up, but I guess that’s expected. As for those tests you mentioned, I honestly don't know—mine were just local, so I just went to a private clinic for blood work...

My breathing still hasn't quite leveled out—I'm on day eight now. I ended up paying out of pocket to get my tests done privately.

I’m doing pretty alright, or at least my nose is... the swelling is going down, and the tip is starting to drop🙂 As far as breathing goes, it’s still not totally clear, but I had a cold recently, so maybe that’s part of it too......
And honestly, if I were you, I’d just go to a private clinic for the pre-op stuff, like maybe a Mayo Clinic outpatient center or something similar..... that’s where I went...... everything is done in like two hours (meaning the tests and getting the results back), and it’s not even that pricey. I paid $130 which I really don't think was much, especially when you consider we're already prepared to shell out like $2,000 for the surgery itself, so why sweat an extra $100 on top of that?! But hey, that's just my two cents and my advice.....
