I caught this French-Romanian flick called Them the other day, and honestly, I can't recommend it enough. It's actually based on some real events, which adds a whole other layer to it. I’m not going to spoil the plot or even tell you what genre it is because it’s much better if you just go in blind and let the movie take over. What I will say is that the story itself isn't even the main draw; the real strength lies in that incredible sense of paranoia and tension that clings to you from start to finish. If you're someone who lives for horror, thrillers, or anything that leaves you feeling genuinely unsettled, you really need to check this one out.

The movie was fantastic, though I don't think anything quite like this has ever actually happened in real life.

I'm really not sure, because even if something similar did take place, standard practice would dictate that you shouldn't be revealing the identities of people involved like that.

This movie is incredible, easily one of my all-time favorites. And yeah, the fact that it’s based on a true story makes the whole thing so much more unsettling. It kicks off like a classic horror flick, but then it evolves into this intense thriller that hits even harder... By the end, I was just sitting there in total shock, who would have ever guessed those were just kids.

Of course not. The directors simply cherry-picked various urban legends; almost nothing in this film is actually based on true events. It’s just like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which was loosely inspired by the case of Ed Gein. I see nearly identical patterns here as well. The Strangers It’s finally coming out this May. They’re still leaning on that tired old trope of being "based on a true story."

Alright, now you've actually got my attention—spill it. What are these "true events" you keep hinting at? Is there some kind of dark secret here? And more importantly... does anyone actually have this movie in their local DVD Library in Washington, D.C.?

As far as I know, you won't find that in any local video rental shops here...
for a breakdown of what actually went down, just check Wikipedia; wouldn't want you getting the wrong idea.

You can find it in video rental stores, I’ve watched it on DVD before, and I even picked up a copy back in Sioux Falls, so it most likely had a release in New York City too.

I honestly can’t get over how much I loved this film! The atmosphere they managed to build is just beyond words—it wraps around you in a way that's truly hard to describe, almost like stepping into another dimension entirely. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to absolutely everyone out there😁

Bad movie. Such a cheap trick to pull on the audience—it spends the whole time leaning into supernatural vibes, then ends up being what it is, without me spoiling it. Especially that opening scene; it gave off major Mothman Prophecies vibes, which I actually loved, making me think this was going to be great... but then it just falls flat. Not saying there aren't some decent scenes in there, but as a whole? It's a miss.

That just isn't true at all, because if you were actually paying attention, you could clearly see someone strangling another person right there in the car during the opening scene, so it wasn't exactly some mystery left unsolved.

I saw this one ages ago, but honestly, I’d go back for seconds! 🙏

To be totally blunt, my first thought was that I’d just be wasting my time sitting through it,
but it turned out to be way more than just "good"—it was actually incredible. 🙏
I’m a huge sucker for thrillers and horror movies; I usually get so sucked into the plot that I’ve basically solved the mystery before the credits even roll. 😬
But I have to admit, this time? You totally caught me off guard. 🙏

Definitely give it a watch! 👍

To be perfectly honest, I initially figured I was just going to waste my afternoon sitting through this,
but it actually turned out to be an absolutely stellar movie.

I had the exact same experience where I didn't have high expectations, yet I ended up being pleasantly surprised by how good it really was.

...I guess the movie was alright... nothing to write home about really... but the plot actually caught my interest because it was just so out there... there’s this weird, lingering sense of anxiety hanging over the whole thing, and honestly, it left me feeling so paranoid that I ended up walking back to check if I locked my apartment door twice 😁
