Raymond Anderson4 said:Max didn't have DRS at the detection point at the end of the lap. If he had, that gap wouldn't have been nearly as tight.

Looks like he botched the shift from 4th to 6th coming out of turn three—classic Max choke—and his DRS still hadn't kicked in. We’re looking at a lost 0.25 to 0.3 seconds there, which means Hamilton's actual deficit to the Mercedes-Benz is sitting right around three tenths. Maybe they could've squeezed out more if their driver had been running FP2 instead, though who knows. Valtteri Bottas definitely wasn't 🙄

As for Lewis, he’ll cruise to an easy victory before spending the rest of the afternoon trolling all those orange-clad haters. I can already see someone waving the British flag in the stands just to watch the internet absolutely lose its mind.🤣

These delusions just pop up before every single race. 👎What if Pierre Gasly ends up taking out Hamilton?

That’s all there is to it.
HRC was playing it safe for the finish, and even Max messed up his first sector slightly—but it doesn't change anything.🙂

Missed it on the final flying lap.
🤦
Should've nailed it on the first try.

Raymond Anderson4 said:Red Bull Racing just ran a simulation using Max Verstappen to tow Max Verstappen at the end of his lap. It’s entirely possible we might see a similar tactic during the Third Qualifying Session if they both make it through.

Probably a few tenths—not that he gained much over Valtteri Bottas. Looks like Mercedes-Benz is killing it in the final sector—maybe some cool air from a vent or something.

He clipped the rear tire, didn't rip it off, but he’ll likely have to gamble on the gearbox if it's even still intact.

The verdict: he was moving way too fast to pull up before Lance Stroll, so no penalty.

I bet the folks over at Sky—who were all over this immediately—are pretty bummed out.

It isn't as if there was some warning light flashing on the dashboard earlier. As soon as he saw that red light on the signal, he hit the brakes immediately. Is it not perfectly reasonable to conclude that penalizing him here simply makes no sense at all?

So, the news just dropped—he’s under investigation for allegedly cutting under the red flags, and now he’s been hauled in to face the judges. Just another day in the circus.

Norris got hit with a draconian penalty in Baku just because he didn't dive into the pits the split second that red flag popped up. You have to allow for some reaction time once the info actually hits the driver—it’s not instant telepathy. If the notification is late, you penalize the crew, not the guy behind the wheel.

Looks like they were waving blue flags right as Stroll was passing by—classic.

Alright fine, I know one guy on here who’s probably gonna be absolutely thrilled about this news

It’s reliable when the results come back positive—but completely useless when they're negative, since it misses half the people actually infected.

Raymond Anderson4 said:It’s honestly pretty rare to see this happen, but it’s incredibly rare to see Lewis’s car actually pull off the track.

And when he does blow up, he’s lucky enough to do it during a practice session ☕

One of the absolute lowest points in NASCAR history.
They’ve never been this overly cautious about rain before—why is it such a massive deal in this era?

The worst part is they actually had decent conditions around 3 PM. They could have easily just cruised under the SC and waited for things to clear up.
But instead, we get these drivers whining about visibility... since when was visibility ever an excuse in a wet race?
That’s it—looks like they just took the qualifying results and called them the race finish.
If there’s actually going to be a race, it's capped at an hour ☕
Robert Cox46 said:It'll be pitch black by then. Such a shame—we spent all this time waiting for Spa and some rain, and now we've got way too much of it.

Sunset isn't until about 8:30 over there, which is later than our time zone. But with this weather? The race will probably be wrapped up by seven or eight.
Perez might have to start from the pit lane 😬
Hopefully they give him a setup that actually works for the rain—maybe then he can pull off a decent recovery drive
darkmarlin16 said:Why wouldn't they let Checo drive?

I don't see why not—he could at least roll out from the pit lane like he did during the first race (where he skipped the formation lap too, basically).
Does this count toward the race laps, or what? How many points does everyone actually walk away with if the rest gets scrapped?
If things fall apart, maybe we'll just get a view of the Czech Republic... straight from the pit box.
vividlynx68 said:Are we looking at a normal start, or is it going to be more of that mess we saw at the beginning of Q3 yesterday?

If there's a real risk of aquaplaning or heavy rain, they'll probably just line them up under the Safety Car until enough water gets cleared off the track.
Looks like some 'mastermind' decided to screw over Perez during Q3:
"Unfortunately, on my last lap, I was blocked by Hamilton on my timed lap and that meant I had to start the lap within a second of him. As a result, I lost too much time"
Rough times for Total—he’s probably going to have to bring that "Hamilton killer" over to Mercedes-AMG.
George Russell is basically settling for pole in that scrap heap, though Max put in a hell of a lap right at the wire..
