What kind of complications are we actually looking at with a procedure like this??
Is there any way to quantify the success rate—say, via a specific percentage—or more importantly, what does the mortality rate look like?
My mother is scheduled for surgery—specifically, she needs an endovascular embolization. To give you some context, she suffered a stroke about three years ago and, remarkably, her recovery was stellar—back then, she managed to pull through without needing any surgical intervention at all.
However, due to various complications—hospital issues, naturally—she wasn't able to undergo an angiography until about fifteen days ago. That procedure finally confirmed she has an aneurysm, and the doctors are recommending the endovascular embolization to address it.
What I’m specifically looking to understand is the risk profile of this procedure—is it considered dangerous?—and what the recovery timeline actually looks like.
