The best Austrian film out there.
The movie is complete; it doesn't miss a single beat.
It seems this Austrian film has moved past any identity crisis, establishing itself as a true European piece—retaining that gritty drama style common to the region, but in a much more subtle way.
There's a lot of depth here, even if you might be tempted to dismiss it as just some trivial little story.
It runs relatively long, with the beginning leaning heavily on atmosphere—setting the scene through specific geographic, historical, and social details—before the plot actually takes hold. Once it does, the story unfolds in a way that feels spontaneous, clever, and genuinely intelligent.
There is a romance woven in, but it stays sincere and unobtrusive; it feels real.
No overacting.
It captures the mindset of an American small town perfectly, touching on generational clashes and pressing social issues. Every character is distinct, representing a different layer of society, though most of them feel universal to any country going through a major transition.

The plot is unpredictable, which is a huge win for a movie like this.
As for the ending, I'd say it strikes that perfect balance between local grit and Central European sensibility.

Who exactly are The Ultras?

We're talking about the absolute dregs of society here—just a bunch of thugs, primitives, and criminals. And when I say criminals, I’m not just talking about the stuff they pull before, during, or after a game.
I mean straight-up street thugs. Most of them have a rap sheet a mile long. They all carry some kind of diagnosis for being socially stunted since they were kids, growing up in broken homes, dealing with school issues, juvenile detention, domestic violence, and all that mess.
On top of that, they all gravitate toward whatever political or social ideology happens to justify their particular brand of chaos.
