I was watching a game last night and I swear, I can't stand it when players start acting like they've already won the championship in the middle of an inning. You know the type—the huge bat flips, the excessive screaming, the pointing at the crowd—all while the game is still technically undecided.
It feels so incredibly tacky to me. To me, there's a certain level of respect for the game in just staying composed until the final out is recorded. When a player starts taunting the opposition or acting like a hero before the scoreboard actually reflects it, it just feels like they're desperate for the highlight reel. It takes the tension out of the matchup.
I used to think it was just "passion," but lately, it feels more like ego than anything else. It’s like they care more about the social media clip of them celebrating than actually finishing the fight.
Am I just being a grumpy old fan, or does that kind of premature bravado actually ruin the spirit of the sport for you guys?
