I tried implementing a system like that once, but it was an absolute disaster!
At the end of the day, I ended up just manually transcribing everything using shorthand, and honestly? That turned out to be both faster and way more accurate than any automated mess!

I don't even see this as a real proposal. For a single point, it wasn't worth the effort for the officials to even bother checking how many laps are left in a race. It’s almost always the final lap anyway. Or am I totally off base here?
