Deloitte mortgage rates in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Honestly, I think just reading stuff carefully and actually getting it is super important. I'm only saying this because I know so many people who just sign whatever paperwork gets shoved in front of them without even giving it a quick glance.
From what I've seen, you can even find straight-up mistakes in the info they put in—like wrong amounts or personal details...

(Look, I'm definitely not a lawyer or a banker, so maybe take this with a grain of salt. I'm just trying to help, but I can't promise everything's 100% perfect)

Just guessing here, but maybe it's because a bunch of people still use savings accounts as a decent way to stash cash—especially with those old incentives back in the day 🙂—without actually planning on taking out a mortgage. Since those banks are supposed to only use the funds for home loans, they might just have some extra cash sitting around that's more profitable to lend to anyone with good credit instead of just letting it sit there.

Anyway, if they offer you a deal where everything is exactly what they promised, and you haven't paid any upfront fees yet (so there's no loss if you pass on the loan), I don't see why you wouldn't jump on it.

Though, you know what they say... if it sounds too good to be true... 🙂.
Just double-check all the fine print and good luck.

Maybe I'm just being dumb, but isn't this more about the terms for housing savings accounts (kind of reminds me of what the NFL was offering me), rather than a standard mortgage?
Best online payment cards? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
It's a debit card. And when they said it works just like a "regular Visa," I figured they meant a Visa Classic—which is credit, right? I don't have one myself, so I guess I'm just guessing here, and I hate being wrong about stuff; but I only mentioned it because back when I was opening a foreign currency account at Bank of America a few years ago, the teller there made it super clear that this specific card wasn't actually meant for online shopping 🤷 .
But I went ahead and tried anyway. And hey, it actually works! 😁

Bank of America Visa, linked to my foreign currency account—works great for PayPal stuff, and honestly, it even works as a regular Visa whenever I've tried using it online

Citibank Eurocard/Mastercard—good to have for those spots that don't take PayPal

steelpuma57 said:I’ve been spinning my wheels for ages trying to figure out how to actually land a loan. I’ve practically hammered every major bank from Chase to Wells Fargo, hitting them up via email and showing up in person just to get nowhere. Look, I run my own small business, and my credit isn't blocked or anything, but I am sitting on a debt of about 100 $0.00. It’s a bit of a messy situation because I ended up taking over the reins of the business from my ex-husband. Things are finally starting to look up, though—the business is actually gaining traction and I can really see a future here. The catch is, I’m a single parent and I don't own any property or real estate, plus my personal income from last year was basically peanuts. I’m wondering if there’s some other way to scrape together a loan or find some kind of financing? Also, does anyone know if things like promissory notes could actually work for this kind of thing?
thanks

Kind of jumping in late here, but..
Maybe it’d help—just to get better info—to be a bit more specific about the business side? Like, even if $33333 isn't a massive amount of cash, it's still roughly what a lot of people make in a year after taxes, so it's way more than just minimum wage.
If we're talking about loans, unless it's family (and even then, maybe?), you really gotta look at whether someone can actually pay it back with interest.
Since you mentioned income was super low last year, I don't really see how anyone could swing a monthly payment, even if a bank or someone actually approved the loan—unless they're betting big that your business is gonna blow up soon. Plus, any lender would see this as a huge risk, so the interest rates would probably be crazy high to cover that.

Not trying to be a buzzkill, just think we gotta stay realistic.

Good luck!

Thanks for clearing that up, but that’s not quite it (I think I know the one you mean by that "tiny little blue square").

Is there any way to set it up so when I'm browsing subforums and hit "previous topic," it just jumps straight to the first unread post? Right now it just loads the very first page of the thread, and then I have to manually hunt for my spot... kinda annoying, I guess.

Thanks!
