Time is flying by way too fast in Psychology ·
Dennis Davis5 said:I wanted to share some thoughts here on how time seems to slip away. When I was a kid, everything felt like it moved at a snail's pace. I remember being in preschool and feeling like it lasted forever; looking back, I’d say it felt three times longer than it actually was. Elementary school had its own slow rhythm, too—I can still vividly remember how long each school year dragged from fall to summer. That steady pace lasted until my sophomore year of high school, when things suddenly picked up speed. By junior year, right around age 17, it started accelerating even more. Even that stressful final stretch of high school seemed to fly by. Now that I'm in college, it’s not just years moving fast anymore; it feels like weeks and days are blurring together. Don't get me wrong, I'm actually happy about it because I want to move forward with life, but it's strange. On top of that, looking back at things from just two years ago, it feels like a lifetime has passed. It honestly feels like it happened over five years ago.

Does anyone else feel this way, or is it just me? Some people say it's because we have so many more responsibilities now.

The reality is that the "feeling" of slow time during childhood is essentially a result of a child's purity and sincerity—back then, there wasn't anything like the brain or the ego to disrupt it. A child is pure sensation without the weight of intellect, whereas an adult is mostly intellect without sensation, because those feelings get BLOCKED—not necessarily by the intellect itself, but by the ego. That EGO, which corrupts a person constantly, is the reason time feels like it's racing. The ego ACCELERATES thought, and faster thoughts mean a faster flow of time; slower thoughts mean a slower flow. The heart is a miracle... truly one of humanity's greatest mysteries. Einstein was right! Time relativity is a real thing. The corruption of the ego acts like a black hole for the heart, sucking up time just like a vacuum sucks up dust. 🙂

So, when I'm high or not? I guess if I'm stoned, I mostly stick to Comedy—everything else just feels a bit trippy, you know? But when I'm sober, maybe a solid Thriller-Drama, or some Action with elements of Thriller and Drama might work better.
