Jeffersonianitis in Health ·
Can anyone tell me if Jeffersonian gland inflammation can only be treated with surgery, or are there other options?
I'm asking for someone who is dealing with an inflammation for the second time. They had surgery for this about 20 years ago and ended up stuck in the hospital for a week afterward. Is it still the same today, or is there a... well, a "faster" way to handle it? Has medical tech actually moved forward since then?

Can someone help me out with what "atralgia" actually means? I've been searching online but I'm coming up empty.
Thanks!!
Should I sell my Prilosec? in Health ·
Thanks, mistyhound2.
They suggested I pick up some 40mg Prilosec and just take half a pill twice a day. But here's the thing: the instructions specifically say don't chew or crush the tablets.
The manual really hammers that point home multiple times.
I actually broke one open just to see, and the inside looks totally different from the outside—it clearly has this outer coating. Could cutting it make it dissolve too early? I'm not sure.

My doctor put me on a four-week course of Prilosec, taking half a tablet twice a day. But looking at the little instruction sheet inside the box, it says over and over again that you MUST swallow the tablets whole and absolutely NEVER break them.
A gastroenterologist prescribed this to help with some esophageal inflammation I've been dealing with.
What do you guys think about this? I’m planning on just splitting them—I mean, surely the doctor knows what they're doing when they write a prescription, right?

Yeah, those compulsions and intrusive thoughts happen because of some underlying conflict lurking beneath the surface. You might grasp part of why they're there, but there’s always that deeper, unconscious layer at play.
Frank Cooper3, if you think these issues are popping up simply because you can't face one specific thing—and hey, maybe your situation is different—it could just be a temporary crisis triggered by that issue. My advice? Try to actually "look" at the problem. You might not find an immediate fix, but facing it head-on and accepting it exists is better than turning your back on it. That's how you take control instead of letting the problem run your life.
If things don't improve after that, then you'll know the roots probably go even deeper. At least then you'll know where you stand and can keep searching for answers.
That's just my two cents.
Honestly, I'm just so incredibly relieved to be feeling so much better myself—you have no idea! (((;
Feel free to ask anything else if you need. Cheers.

I’m officially done with deep analytical therapy. You know, all that digging around for the root causes.
What can I tell you? Just find a qualified psychotherapist and don't stop searching until you finally hit the right person.

Looking back on things now, I’ve noticed my symptoms definitely flare up when I go too long without sex. So, my advice to all the OCD sufferers out there? Get some action! Seriously, isn't obsessive-compulsive disorder often linked to repressed sexual urges? (Anyone here a psychologist?)

OCD was one of my biggest hurdles, if not the main one, if you can even rank them like that.

Since we’re talking OCD, I dealt with both obsessions—the intrusive thoughts—and compulsions, the actual actions. It wasn't just specific thoughts forcing their way in; my entire way of thinking felt obsessive. My brain wouldn't shut up. It would just spin constantly, overanalyzing everything down to the tiniest detail and looping endlessly. It drives you crazy. As for compulsions, I’d find myself having to touch things, or feeling this sudden urge to make signs in public. I’d repeat certain movements over and over, or just drag things out, making simple tasks take forever. Honestly? For me, the obsessive thoughts were harder to deal with than the physical compulsions.
On top of the OCD, there was plenty of other stuff—social anxiety, sleep issues, eating struggles, and fears about things I’d just imagine in my head...
That’s pretty much it. I don't know my exact diagnosis. Since I was just a teenager back then, maybe I never even got one. Maybe it was just part of those teenage growing pains? When you're young, doctors don't always jump to give you a label, and there are probably good reasons for that too.

My struggles started when I was 13, right after a major trauma. Up until I was 19, I went through therapy with four different specialists—psychologists and psychiatrists. Did they help me?
Not even a little bit. Zero. Then I stumbled upon a therapist who worked with Jungian methods. After three years of that, my life did a complete 180—for the better, obviously. I’m taking a break from sessions right now due to some logistical issues, but I plan on getting back to it to finish what I started. Healing is real; my own life is the proof. I still deal with some things, but I can live NORMALLY now. Without this specific type of therapy, I probably would have lost it completely.
Feel free to ask anything. I hope my experience helps someone out. Just so you know, I haven't taken any medication.
Hang in there, everyone fighting their own battles. You've got this! 😉
