My experience was a bit different, but whenever I'm exhausted and try to drift off, I get this sensation—it's been happening since I was a kid. Suddenly, it feels like I'm plummeting. Like the bed just starts spinning ten times a second, like some kind of falling carousel. Every single time, I jerk awake, arms flailing, grabbing the sides of the mattress like I’m about to fly right out of it.
And another thing (not sure if it fits here) but does anyone else have those dreams within dreams? You know, you have a nightmare, finally wake up in your bed, and then the worst part actually begins. You can't wake up. Ever since I had my baby, the nightmares have been relentless. It starts as I'm falling asleep, I dream something horrific, wake up drenched in sweat, and try to shake my husband awake because I'm shaking so hard—just wanting him to go check on the baby—but he just stares at me like a monster with pitch-black eyes... It just drags on and on until I actually snap out of it. I was having these several times a night. Even before fully passing out, in that half-asleep state, I could feel the nightmare coming. Sometimes I'd wake up, sometimes I wouldn't.
Plus, something that's happened since I was little: if someone hurts me in a dream—like sticking a needle in my neck or something—when I wake up, that exact pain lingers for at least 15 minutes. It feels completely real. People tried telling me maybe I just slept on me wrong, but no... the pain is identical to an actual injury, and it sticks around long after I'm awake.... 🤷
Laura Davis62 said:Or maybe you should start mastering the art of stalling. Honestly, I'm thinking about it. Here's a link showing how only the cheapskates actually pay their bills on time:

True, this is minor—just sales tax—but whether you were "speeding" or not could be interpreted by all sorts of different criteria.
Not sure I follow what you're getting at here...
I get the gist of it—it's all about who's footing the bill and who gets a free pass...
But I'm just looking at my own mess right now. There's basically zero chance I'll make it through the four-year statute of limitations, so I'll end up stuck paying $37 legal fees and dragging myself through court for nothing...
What they’re saying there isn't anything new for this country, nor did it surprise me. Judges are the biggest scammers of them all. Honestly, I won't even dignify what I really think of them with words...
boldhound8 said:Yeah, it's in your favor if they don't show up, because if they do, there's a 99% chance you're getting hit with a fine.🙂
And if they don't show up, maybe you've got a 70% shot, damn it.😁
The story sounds fine, but you'd actually have to prove it, and I highly doubt you've got video footage or witnesses lying around...
Better off just going with the "I can't afford it, I'm unemployed, blah blah blah" routine... if the judge buys it and cuts the fine by like 50%, just pay it and call it a day.
A friend of mine went through this... She couldn't believe they even pulled her over in the first place...
The issue is, she already has a warning on her record from a similar situation (cutting in from the right behind a taxi that was speeding). The cop believed him. He claimed the taxi was ahead, but she was driving too fast. She laughed about it in court, but the judge just called her an idiot. Just an idiot... and then stopped, because she was trying to explain she physically couldn't have been going faster than the car in front of her. Didn't matter. He was right, she got the warning since it was her first offense...
Might be better to just pay the $167 now and save myself the extra legal fees... 😢
So I guess I just have to pray a cop doesn't roll up on me...
That’s gotta be in my favor, right? But even so, four years of these tickets piling up... it's gonna be a mess.
But seriously, I wasn't even in the wrong this time. From where they were sitting, there was no way they could see what was happening 500 yards back when they caught me on camera. I was stuck behind two pickups, seventy cars deep, and once the guys in the right lane sped past, I swerved to pass them and immediately merged back left... Barely made it back into my lane before this guy starts waving his baton at me, and he actually let the first car from the right lane go!!!! Now if I try to explain that in court? Who’s actually going to believe me? 😢
And if the first hearing gets pushed back because of, say, someone getting sick, how long until they schedule the second one?
boldhound8 said:Pretty sure it's 4 years starting from January 1st, so don't hold your breath waiting for it to expire.😁
As for logic... yeah, that's definitely not their strong suit.😁
How to prove it? Hard as hell, but give it a shot. If the cop doesn't show up to court—which happens like 80% of the time—you might actually get lucky.
Last time I showed up... some kids came instead. He’s still got some energy left, I guess...
Good grief, four years??? What if I'm sick on the day of the hearing? Do they just issue a death warrant?
Just skimmed the last ten pages, but still haven't found an answer. Sorry if I missed it...
Got hit with a speeding ticket today and I'm wondering how long until it expires? I know it used to be two years, but did they change that recently? Everyone’s been talking about it, but has an actual decision been made? Couldn't find anything online either... 🙄
And I already got screwed because they literally pulled ME out of line for speeding?!?!? How does the car in front of me get to go slower? 😲
The first time it was a taxi they let off easy, so I filed an appeal and got a warning. Today, it was two pickups, a van, a semi, and me in a sports car. We were all maybe 30 feet apart. They pull ME out of the left lane while that pickup is still cruising ahead of me in the right... Where's the logic? And how am I supposed to prove those numbers on their radar gun aren't mine? 😢
Alright, I guess I'll keep looking.
My dentist and OBGYN are solid. I can handle trekking across town to see them once or twice a year if I have to. 🙂
But finding a decent GP is the real headache...
Whatever, thanks anyway.🙂
Nathan Smith12 said:If they say they’re full, then they’re full... I don't see why you'd put quotes around that. They get paid per patient; unless they are genuinely drowning in work, they aren't just turning people away for fun.🙄
Just find someone else.
The quotes are there because I haven't met a single doctor who isn't overloaded. And when you actually know someone, you get in immediately through a connection. Same thing with these doctors I'm looking at. A friend of mine just transferred her brother and sister-in-law over without any issues—simply because she's a nurse at another clinic. I've heard the exact same thing about at least five or six other OBGYNs and dentists.
But what if the nurse says they're "full"? Would they still take me in regardless?
Can I just handle the application on Broadway? Like, without having to go back to see this doctor again?
I know the paperwork goes to the office on Broadway, but my real question is: what happens if the doctor refuses to take on new patients?
Does anyone actually know if you can switch doctors when you've been living at a different address for five years now? As far as I can tell, the only way people move is through knowing someone on the inside, since everyone complains their doctor is already overbooked... What are we even entitled to here? I couldn't find a straight answer on the Medicare website. 😢
Can I actually switch doctors? I moved to a different neighborhood and checked with the local clinic about transferring my records, but the nurse just told me they’re full. Honestly, I shouldn't have expected anything else—in New York City, it seems like every single doctor, dentist, or OBGYN is perpetually "booked up."
But I can't keep wasting hours commuting back to my old GP. I have little kids and end up taking sick leave for them constantly, and my doctor is rarely actually there. It’s like he treats every Friday like a long weekend. Every time I show up to get my medical notes signed, he’s gone. His temp doesn't sign off on the paperwork if he's only out for one day, and then when I head back to work after a week, I can't get my documentation processed. Since we work the same shifts, I’m getting reprimanded at work for being late with my paperwork because it messes up payroll... This has been going on for four years now. For the last two years, I haven't seen him a single Friday, and that's despite me showing up consistently.
What are my options here? 😢 😕
