Nancy Ward37 said:Glad to see you're doing better, sweetie. You clearly had enough cash for your fix while others were struggling. You're being pretty rude too, but hey—I guess that's just who you are.

like I said—you're better off just ignoring me since you've started throwing around all these prejudices about me.

Since they were stealing before, people view them negatively. Basically, they caused harm to society, so now everyone’s suspicious. Even after someone gets clean, they aren't that same person anymore, but society keeps judging them because they don't believe the recovery is real.

I’d lock up dealers and throw away the key. Was I clear enough for you?

Girl, you are just full of nothing but prejudice! That’s my two cents right there.

And honestly, honey, I was an addict myself—eight years on heroin—so I’m speaking from experience here, which might be enough to shut you up. Listen close: I never committed a crime in my life just to get high, aside from the obvious fact that buying drugs is illegal.
Addicts who steal are people who already had those tendencies in them; they would've stolen regardless of the addiction.
So, quit generalizing about the very people you claim to be "helping."

And yeah, feel free to ignore me!

You aren't surprised by THAT?????? wow, nice one.
And why, seriously, is it "normal" for society to judge people who have moved past addiction? Is it because they got clean? Or maybe because they decided to actually help others? You're just not surprised...

Glad you clarified you weren't talking about dealers or active users, but targeting former addicts... yeah, that's exactly why drugs stay such a taboo subject—because of people like you acting like you're helping when you're really just reciting textbook clichés. 👎

Yeah, sure—except in a lot of cases, it all comes down to the individual's psychological makeup. Too often, people leave rehab and the only thing they can muster is prayer and faith. Look, I'm not saying spirituality is bad, but it shouldn't be the *only* tool in the box.
You just end up swinging from one extreme straight into another 👎

That's why you can't be one-dimensional and assume everyone needs a residential facility. For some, it's a group home; for others, it's outpatient therapy paired with work—even if some "top-tier" psychologists argue you shouldn't work while detoxing 🙄—and for some, it's an inpatient hospital ward.

And honestly, comparing addiction to pedophilia is just plain stupid 👎
oh man... where do I even start? first off, props to you guys for even bothering to argue with Nancy Ward37. Pro tip—don't. People like that are a lost cause. Nancy Ward37, look, good for you, but you're acting way too high and mighty about stuff you clearly don't understand.
And seriously, stop picking fights. Even if you actually saw someone throwing up and seizing for 21 days straight, it wouldn't happen. Not even with the most hardcore heroin addicts does that kind of physical reaction last 21 days—it’s maybe 5 or 6 at most...
Anyway, I'm over it. That's not why I'm here...

So, basically, we've established that drugs are still a massive taboo in America, even though people are talking about them more than ever. It would be different if people just stopped reading between the lines and actually tried to educate themselves properly...

Someone mentioned how nonprofits try to warn people about drugs—back in the day, there was this one NGO (maybe they still are, who knows) called ŠPICA, or something like that, whose activists used to hand out flyers at parties. Those flyers actually laid out everything about different substances and how to help someone through an overdose.
That was actually a solid move. I don't know if they're still doing it, but I really hope they are...
