I just had a sudden realization about something I actually use! (It’s been ages since I dealt with herpes, so it only just crossed my mind now that I can feel one brewing)
Whenever I get that telltale sensation that an outbreak is coming, I start taking half an aspirin every single day. It works as a preventative measure for me. If I catch it during that early stage, it just seems to retreat immediately.
I read about this trick somewhere once, and honestly, it’s solid advice. At least, it works wonders for me.

Honestly, I’ve been lucky enough that it hasn't given me any trouble for quite a while now—not that I even need to show up at the doctor's office for it—but I always keep Virolex cream on hand, and it really does the trick.
The last time I used it, I applied it the very second I felt that familiar little stinging sensation on my lip, well before anything was actually visible to the eye, and it managed to stop a breakout in its tracks.
