Jacob Long, seeing leukocytes and bacteria in a urine sample is just a straightforward indicator of a UTI. 😉
David Wilson8 said:Blood and urine results are all within range except for:

Glucose... 7.1....4.4 - 6.4
Creatinine.....115....64 - 104

AST.........68.....11 - 38
ALT.........112....12 - 48

Please explain what it means when AST and ALT are double the normal limit...
Thanks.

AST and ALT serve as markers for liver function; in my view, these numbers aren't cause for alarm unless other symptoms are present. Recheck with your primary care physician in a week, then perhaps see a gastroenterologist. An ultrasound might also be wise to check for any structural changes in the liver.
And by the way, when ALT is roughly double the AST, it often points toward excessive alcohol consumption 😁. Honestly, these aren't alarming levels; in cases of true hepatitis, you'd see numbers soaring into the thousands, like 2000.
As for the rest, I don't know if you were fasting, but the glucose isn't particularly worrying either. Creatinine is an indicator of kidney function, and since it's only slightly elevated, I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

I volunteered as a Steward last year and I’m stepping into the same role again this year. My experience last season was excellent, though I wouldn't call it challenging since I didn't run into any real issues. The crew is genuinely positive. The only "complication" is that management tends to get quite prickly if they catch anyone holding a beer, so I’d suggest completing your shift sober 😉.
A few practical tips: bring some earplugs if you're stationed near the stage, and grab a flashlight—you'll need it to ensure nobody wanders off into the woods or starts climbing trees. It would also be wise to pick up a festival guide, as I spent most of my time last year answering questions about set times. Also, try to familiarize yourself with the grounds during the day; people get lost constantly and tend to pester the staff for directions.
Don't take the volunteer commitment lightly; Americans can be quite strict about the rules. If they tell you to stand in a specific spot, expect to stay there until you are officially reassigned.
Last year, I packed up and left when the rain started because we were expected to stand out in the downpour without cover. They might be used to it, but I’d recommend keeping a raincoat in your gear just in case.
Feel free to send me a DM if you have specific questions. I'm sure I'll see you out there 🙂.

Nathan Hill13 said:Well, if you're dealing with head and back issues, Judo might not be the best fit after all. There are so many throws involved—landing on your back or sometimes even your head—that the impact from those falls could seriously aggravate your spine or neck.
Of course, that's just my take; you should listen to your own body and decide for yourself.
🙂

I get it. I don't actually have any issues with my cervical spine, thank God, and I'm hoping that once I master proper breakfalls, I can dodge those ice-cold injuries like a pro. As for head impacts, yeah, I've felt them before, though it hasn't been catastrophic yet.
My real concern would be something like Kickboxing, where taking strikes to the head is just part of the daily grind...

To be honest, I didn't expect such negative feedback 🙂.

The reality is that I have an overwhelming amount of energy—far too much, really—and so far, nothing I’ve tried has felt like enough. Aside from other factors, I am talking strictly about physical output.
I also have plenty of free time and, I believe, a strong will.
For years, I stuck to gyms and aerobics because I deal with some issues involving my head and back, and doctors have advised against contact sports since I was young, even though martial arts have always appealed to me. After consulting a few people, they suggested judo and aikido because there is a lower risk of taking heavy blows to the head, which is my primary concern.
It would certainly be easier to just quit once and for all, but training only two or three times a week simply isn't sufficient for me. I need a sport that completely consumes my focus...
I am certain you aren't just talking nonsense; I will likely continue practicing both disciplines for a while longer to see how things progress. Right now, I can't decide on a single path, as they actually seem to complement one another, satisfying my needs for meditation, balance, aggression, and physical release.
My goal isn't to become a grandmaster; I just want to learn.
If I eventually commit to competitive judo, then giving up aikido will likely be inevitable...

Thanks for the input 😉

Hello, everyone.

I am 21 years old and have recently started training in both Aikido and Judo. My Aikido sessions consist of three 90-minute classes per week, while Judo is twice a week for an hour each.
I am curious about how these two disciplines complement one another. Currently, I find myself accidentally applying techniques from one style during the other, though I assume this confusion will dissipate as my proficiency increases.😁.
Furthermore, I wanted to ask if you believe this volume of training is insufficient—particularly regarding Judo. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a local club with a schedule that fits my current availability. My only real alternative is to join the competitive squad, which would increase my training to three or four times a week. However, I am unsure what value that would provide for someone still at the white belt level.🙂.

Furthermore, I would suggest cutting out that glass of milk before bed and scaling back on the sandwiches. I certainly don't want to imagine the amount of processed deli meat you're stuffing inside them. 🙄 😬

Start eating more frequently and in larger portions, provided you focus on nutrient density. Because of your intense training schedule, you require a higher caloric intake to prevent your body from entering survival mode and storing everything as fat instead of using it for fuel.
Best protein powders? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
37° As requested:
If you've been keeping an eye on that forum, you've likely noticed the math doesn't add up. For the price of a measly 250g of Herbalife, you could easily pick up 2 to 3kg of a different brand. It’s like paying premium prices for a single steak when you could buy a whole butcher shop's worth elsewhere. 😲 😲

I assume her instructor is likely peddling them as well, isn't she? 😉

You make a fair point. Given that context, what specific proteins would you recommend for a meal replacement? My apologies if this has already been asked; my brother is currently tied up with World of Warcraft, leaving me in a rather disadvantaged position where I rarely get close enough to the computer to browse, so I’m trying to be efficient with my time. 😬 .

Honestly, my instructor sells them, but I tend to put all my trainers on a pedestal. I simply can't wrap my head around the idea that SHE would ever try to pull a fast one on me. 🤣 .

Does anyone have actual experience using Herbalife proteins? I read some threads on those fitness forums where people really tear into soy-based proteins, but personally, I don't think it would affect me much since I'm a woman 🙂.
My aerobics instructor suggested they might be useful because they act as a sort of complete, balanced meal replacement. It could potentially serve as my dinner, especially since I always train late at night and barely have the energy to stay awake for an hour after my HIIT session just to eat something substantial
. Any advice is appreciated; I’m moving soon and can't afford to waste money on things that don't work 😬.
Besides, I need to restock my supplies anyway 😉
Struggling to sleep? Any tips? in Health ·
Good grief, I deal with those bizarre jerks myself. It pulls me right out of sleep, too—has been happening for quite some time now. I can't exactly offer much comfort via medication 🙂, unfortunately; I’ve simply learned to live with it. I drift off, feel that sudden twitch (like a strange vibration in the head, right?), lie there for a bit, and then fall back under. It rarely happens more than once a night, so I don't let it get to me too much.
I find that certain meditative techniques help me settle down and fall asleep faster. As for stress, it really has nothing to do with it...

Walter Myers4 said:What happened to you? How did you even react? 😲

It all kicked off with an itch in my palms and soles that quickly spiraled out of control, spreading across my entire body. Before I knew it, my legs were blanketed in tiny bumps, while the rest of my skin was littered with red blotches. Then things got scary—my vision blurred, my hearing failed, and when I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, my face was so swollen I was unrecognizable. I couldn't feel my nose at all, though thank God my tongue didn't swell enough to choke me. I barely managed to survive those two frantic minutes driving to the ER. What a nightmare.
To make matters worse, my doctor told me I’m not actually allergic to these specific medications, implying this could happen again with any other drug in the future. Isn't that just lovely? 👎

I have no intention of getting better; this started on Monday and it’s been a disaster. I have zero energy left. My temperature actually dipped below 98.6 yesterday, but just when I thought I might finally be able to get off the couch, it spiked right back over 100. It’s exhausting. 🙂
I once had a severe allergic reaction to Tylenol and ended up in the ER! I honestly have no clue why, since it certainly wasn't my first time taking it. It was just one of those moments where a simple 🙂cold / flu
suddenly turns into a crisis.
