I feel so ugly... in Psychology ·
Amanda Flores2 said:Honestly, you guys—thank you so much! It’s funny how things work, but even just last night, I started feeling a bit more like myself again. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and realized—really realized—that these breakouts aren't who I am as a person. And today? I actually woke up feeling genuinely happy. I haven't even reached for my magnifying mirror yet to start picking away at everything (and I solemnly swear, I really won't!).

I AM BEAUTIFUL! Even with the breakouts! 👍

Post a photo so we can give you an honest assessment ☕ 😬

2. I spar with TKD guys quite often—though they're ITF style—and I have to admit they can be pretty "effective"... I mean, the gear helps and all, but on the street... well... honestly, only a disciplined, composed, and well-trained fighter stands a chance at closing the gap and forcing them into a clinch where they’re actually quite weak... everyone else is just aggressive and overconfident, and they end up going straight to sleep👍 ...especially those tall, lanky TKD fighters... absolute nightmares, truly dangerous people!!!
3. This response is exactly what I expected, and frankly, the question wasn't really directed at you, just putting it out there in case anyone happens to know anything...

I'm a TKD practitioner myself, standing 6'4"... so, what you're saying is true, it isn't easy for me to get inside that range, especially since I've been in a few street fights before... you can imagine how that turned out for the other guy. Of course, I always try to avoid a fight, but if it comes down to it 😈

I suppose I could talk about forms, though there isn't much to say... for every new rank or belt you aim for, you have to master a new form, except when moving up from the initial white belt stage. They function much like katas in karate, essentially being a choreographed struggle against one or more imaginary opponents. It isn't just about memorizing the sequence of moves, but rather executing them with the right intensity—staying sharp, fast, and exhaling sharply after each strike to give the whole thing a sense of combat readiness... and then there are the actual competitions dedicated solely to form performance

I feel like I'm being called out here 😳 TKD basically splits into two camps, ITF and WTF (the Olympic style). ITF leans a bit more toward the gritty side, since you can throw punches to the head and strikes below the belt are allowed... it honestly feels a lot like kickboxing rules. In WTF, those aren't permitted, so the matches follow full-contact rules minus the punches to the face. There's also the gear difference; ITF fighters don't wear the heavy chest protectors or headgear that WTF practitioners do. While people might assume ITF fighters are tougher, that isn't really the case... WTF fighters tend to come out on top in sparring because their kicking technique is just far more refined. If anyone actually wants to dive deeper into this, I could always write more 😳 😁
Is Optimum Nutrition Creatine worth it? in Health ·

Creatine just pulls extra water into your muscle cells—which, in turn, helps them absorb more protein. If you're going to take creatine, it might be worth pairing it with some whey protein—though you should probably watch what you eat or drink right before or after taking it, since certain foods might interfere with how it works.

Thanks for the input. I've got one more thing weighing on me. I was scrolling through some sites online and saw claims that taking creatine could actually be bad for your muscles. Apparently, there's talk that the new muscle tissue built up from creatine doesn't bond as strongly to the old tissue, which could lead to muscle tears when things get intense 😕

I'm curious if anyone here actually has some first-hand experience with this... I've been digging through various American forums and everything seems pretty straightforward, nothing suggesting any real health risks or side effects...

So, here's what the latest studies are suggesting... apparently, our cravings for meat are actually tied to our blood type. I’d love to hear what the vegetarians think about this before they start lecturing us on the ethics of eating animals, since for most of us, it feels pretty much hardwired into our biology... sorry, I couldn't be bothered to translate the full English text myself

Those with Type O (about 46% of Americans) represent the oldest genetic lineage, meaning they practically need meat on the table every single day just to satisfy those ancient hunter-gatherer instincts... They probably ought to steer clear of oats, wheat, and most grains too, considering those agricultural staples didn't even exist back when the O group first showed up.

Then you have Type A (40% of the population), who evolved alongside the rise of farming societies, making a vegetarian lifestyle their best bet.

Type B (10% of the population) cropped up as people started migrating into much colder, more unforgiving climates... These folks can handle the widest variety of foods, including meat, and they’re actually the only group that processes dairy without much trouble.

Finally, there's Type AB (4% of the population), which is a fairly recent adaptation born from the mixing of A and B groups... This means they basically deal with the dietary perks and the sensitivities of both types at once.

wheel said:I honestly think most people operate on this mindset where they only care about their own interests and couldn't care less about anyone else... That kind of survivalist attitude was necessary for early humans and primitive tribes just to make it through the day. Since then, civilization has actually made some progress, weaving moral and ethical guidelines into our laws that expect us to act according to modern societal standards. Unfortunately, there’s still plenty of room for these primitive attitudes to thrive, which is a shame for the society we live in, though things won't change overnight... Everyone trying to raise those ethical bars—vegetarians included—is just doing their part by standing up for their views and explaining them. That's really the reason why vegetarians feel emboldened to speak up about their lifestyle and perspectives... I don't see any reason why anyone should feel offended or threatened by that.

Spare me the lecture on morality and ethics... If you want to live "in harmony with nature," then eat meat because that's how it works, and if you don't, fine, but nature always collects its debt eventually... Vegetarians end up with colon cancer at higher rates than omnivores anyway. Look, I truly don't care what anyone puts on their plate, I really don't, and if someone wants to eat garbage, that's their business... It just gets under my skin when vegetarians try to prove they eat "better" or act like they're superior human beings just because they aren't killing animals... Give me a break, who do they think they are to judge me?

Why the hell do vegetarians always feel the need to lecture everyone else like they’re the moral authorities and we’re all just walking errors... Honestly, I couldn't care less if you decide to live on nothing but recycled plastic, just leave the rest of us alone... As if it matters, because I don't see anyone questioning whether the pig suffered while I'm sitting here enjoying a rack of ribs... You're never going to change the world with those hippie delusions... If nature hadn't intended for us to eat meat, we wouldn't have canines, we'd just have flat teeth like cows and thirty yards of intestines so we could try digesting cellulose...

kriskros99 said:Hold on a second, you’re basically arguing that lions are smarter than gazelles just because the gazelle is "dumb" enough to get caught while the lion is "smart" enough to eat meat🙄
Now you're claiming to be smarter than a tiger because it's stuck in a cage, even though it actually consumes way more protein than you ever will. I don't see how any of this relates to the actual discussion about nutrition...
I honestly don't follow the logic here...

My take is that herbivores are at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder, followed by carnivores, and then omnivores. Since humans are omnivores, we aren't easily fooled by either extreme, whereas an herbivore can't really outmaneuver anyone... which is why I maintain that vegetarians aren't inherently any more intelligent than the rest of us omnivores...

driftingfox33 said:Did YOU shove him in the cage, and did YOU build that rifle? Huh? Well?

That’s easily the most ridiculous part of human evolution—how all this mindless baggage just hitched a ride on the innovators, and now it acts like it actually accomplished something...

But I suppose that’s where the strength of humanity lies. God help me, I don't know what else you're going to throw at me. Please, just stop talking, because I'm about to start sending people links to this thread just so they can see what you've been saying...

driftingfox33 said:Lions live wherever elephants do. I’ve never heard anything about tigers doing that. Elephant calves might be at risk, but everyone knows predators don't go after elephants. And they call them prey.

🙄

Different strokes for different folks, I guess... Is this level of debate finally meeting your sophisticated standards?

Just because you haven't heard it doesn't mean it isn't true... 🙄Tigers will take down an adult elephant if they're hungry enough, so maybe try watching a bit more Animal Planet or Discovery...

Go try racing them through their own backyard... maybe if you post the results when you get back, I'll actually believe you...

They haven't caught me yet, and they never have... 🙄 Maybe it’s because they’re stuck behind bars... 🙄 Or maybe it's just because I've got a rifle... 🙄 WHO DO YOU THINK IS ACTUALLY WINNING HERE????????

I guess there's just no logic to why a lion can't catch me, yet I’m not exactly looking to make a meal out of him either... 😕 I guess it's just one of those things that doesn't quite add up... why a monkey wouldn't be able to catch it... 😕

driftingfox33 said:Maybe a gazelle could take down a lion if it actually ate meat, but it doesn't. And lions just pick off the slowest or sickest one in the herd, which is basically just nature doing its job by cleaning things up. Besides, females handle the hunting, which opens up a whole different debate about whether > holds any water here...
If lions are so brilliant, why don't they go after elephants? This is all just nonsense...

It's because lions and elephants don't share the same territory 😉 though tigers will hunt an elephant if they're hungry enough in a group 😉 And you really want to argue that the male lion isn't smarter than the female? He doesn't bother hunting; he just waits for her to do the work and then swoops in to steal the kill, which seems pretty calculated to me...

Maybe a gazelle could take down a lion if it actually ate meat, but it doesn't.

If she were a guy, her name would be Dave😕

Men seem to navigate space with more ease because they’re wired as hunters, whereas women tend to focus on the finer details since they were naturally gatherers...
Are vegetarians actually smarter? in Psychology ·
I don't know if anyone has brought this up yet, but in nature, predators seem to have a higher IQ than herbivores... I mean, how is a lion supposed to catch a gazelle if she's outsmarting him every single time 😕

This Japanese horror flick is actually incredible. The American remake was total garbage, obviously. But the original? It has those specific scenes that just make your stomach turn... 😲
