I’ll give Saturday a shot, since I'm still relatively young.
Started early in the morning. We missed New Year, and we mostly just listened while sitting down. But we had to move closer to the stage because Pegboy was just about to play. The band was, how should I put it, wasted on beer. Guitar playing was rough, the drummer kept dropping sticks and couldn't keep a beat, leaving only the bassist with a sour face and the guitarist with a weird haircut to pull through. Still, they were great.
After them, The Ex played. Almost the exact same set as they did in Chicago—just pure chaos and energy! The lefty guitarist cut his hand up, so he got blood all over the guitar. But he didn't quit. All in all, it was killer. We had to move back to the main stage though, because Killdozer was up next. Gerald was just screaming his lungs out until the end... it was good. Some people even bought records.
Moving over to the touch and go stage. Didjits came on. Rock and roll, man! Action, sex, raw nerves. Mr. Sims stood his ground against a rude crowd by being even ruder, then messed around with his guitar. Punk Roy Orbison style. We skipped Negative Approach because my legs were killing me and we needed to grab some food. We headed toward the bus near the touch and go stage because Scratch Acid was up next. Man... world-class stuff. Americans don't know how to chill; we were basically defending the country in the front row. It was a wild scene.
Then we skipped Man or Astroman, because we weren't about to leave space for someone from Virginia. From a distance, it looked like Man or Astroman was tearing things up, but whatever, Big Black was next. Steve showed up, then Bob and Coach arrived to set their gear up while the crowd cheered. The Big Black guys arrived, and Roland too. At some point, Steve lit some firecrackers and killed it! I tried to take photos, but the cables tripped me up and damn it. They smashed through three more songs and everyone left happy. Then Shellac. You have to see them to understand. Words fail me, but it was incredible. Maybe they lingered a bit too long on the last tracks, but seeing Coach tell his story made it worth it.
That's it.
