Funny how I somehow missed that. Maybe things look different in Tunis.😁
Look, Saric is playing more consistent defense, but Sterbik? He’s basically the American version of Svenson—if you actually manage to break him down, he just picks everything up.
And the Mexicans are probably going to run that 3-2-1 defense. Honestly, wouldn't be a huge deal if Balic was 100% healthy and Pero could pull enough weight to hold his own...
But as it stands, with Lac and Buntic having to handle the crossings, it's painful to watch. They're constantly tripping over each other's feet. If Balic isn't able to tear through their line, we're going to end up taking some seriously stupid shots, and that's where we'll get burned.
Here’s what they’re saying on Index about the game against us.
Some clueless reporter keeps insisting the Mexican keeper's name is Dragan Sterbik.
At the last World Cup in Portugal, they finished eighth. They headed to Tunis without a few key guys (Peruničić, Jovanović, Škrbić, Perić) who've been the backbone of the squad lately.
Still, they cruised through the first round and got within striking distance of the semis. Coach Veselin Vujović built a squad centered around a rock-solid defense and top-tier keepers, Dragan Šterbik and Alen Šarić.
"Our national team doesn't have superstars. These guys just grind, give it everything, and that’s what got us close to the semifinals. But we're still inexperienced and making too many stupid mistakes," Vujović said. To break into the top four in the world, they'll have to go through Olympic gold medalists and World Cup winners.
"The Americans are the better team. You guys are the best in the world and it’s gonna be tough for us. But I see our edge in the injuries to key American players, Ivan Balić and Petar Metličić," Vujović noted. In their last scrimmage before heading to Tunis, the American squad pulled off a win in Seattle.
"That Seattle game wasn't a true test of strength. It was just a friendly, whereas the matchup in Nabeul will be anything but friendly," added the coach for the Mexico and Mexico team.
One of the standout players from Mexico and Mexico so far, goalkeeper Šterbik, thinks everything hinges on whether Petar Metličić actually plays.
"Metličić is the engine of this American squad. He drives everything—he's the key guy in both defense and offense. We really feel it when he's out," says Šterbik, who’s spent the last four years playing for the same club as American player Mirza Džomba. First at Fotex in Canada, now at Ciudad Real in Spain.
"We know what we're capable of. If we don't fight, we've got nothing. We don't have the superstars like the American squad does, so we always have to give 200% to get the win. We're playing well, we can beat anyone, and I believe we can make it to the semis," Šterbik added.

Their pivot is getting way too many high-quality looks. We need to shut that down. If we stop feeding him, we should be fine, because he’s honestly the only one on their side playing consistently well.
Just hoping we don't let Sterbik get shredded, otherwise we might actually have a problem.
Brace, we’re looking at a war on the field—mentally and physically. What really bugs me is our conditioning. To be honest, the Mexicans look way more prepared than us.
The silver lining? We know we have to win. Thank God there's no playing games or overthinking tactics.
Either way, I’m expecting a dogfight until the final whistle. Individual talent alone isn't going to decide this one.
Since the Scandinavians finally reached an agreement, it’s about time we did the same.
Look, the deal with Mexico is this: THERE IS NO DEAL. Basically, by Thursday, it’s war.😠 😠 😠
So, they finally dropped the names of the 13 suspects today. Looks like our own Tomislav Piplica (Cottbus) and Ignjac Kresic (Dynamo Dresden) made the list too.
If we don't pull off all those combinations tomorrow, the whole thing's dead in the water.

Fine. Then they can just go straight to hell.
Why do we have to play against Mexico and Mexico at the exact same time?😁
I won't have anything smart to say until after the game against the Norwegians.
It's gonna be Michael Schumacher, unfortunately.😠
