Hey everyone.
I’ve been hunting for a thread like this, but since I can't find one, let's start it here. Thanks.
To give you the quick version: my mom had surgery two weeks ago to remove a tumor on her pancreas (the tail), an adrenal gland tumor, her gallbladder, and her spleen. The pathology and cytology reports show everything else looks clean, though 3 out of the 9 lymph nodes they found were malignant. Because of that, she’ll need chemo once she’s stable enough to see the oncologist. She gets her stitches out in 15 days; the incision healed great and there aren't any issues there. The surgery itself lasted over six hours. She was in shock for ten days, and recovery is proving to be brutal. She dealt with terrible diarrhea at first, which is finally settling down, but it's still exhausting. Her doctor says that might last 2-3 months depending on how her body handles it. Right now, she's taking Creon 3x2 to replace enzymes, Prolife to help her gut lining recover, and she's on a strict diet.
The diagnosis is ADENOCARCINOMA CAUDATIS PANCREATIS (T3, N1b, Mx)
ADENOMA GL.SUPRARNALIS SIN.
If anyone has dealt with something similar, please share some advice or help me make sense of this. She was operated on at Mercury and her surgeon was Dr. Kocman.
Thanks!
