If you want my take on how much this Kung Fu (Sanda/Sanshou stuff) actually resembles traditional martial arts? Honestly, to me, it feels just like UFC but without any of the ground game.👍
Raymond Wood69 said:Look, all that stuff is fine and dandy, but my biggest hurdle is actually hitting the gym... I'm honestly kind of embarrassed to show my face there in front of them🙄 but hey, if you want results, you gotta suck it up, right?
Nathan Hill13 said:I started training BJJ basically just so I could defend myself when people targeted me (which happened way too often). Eventually, I moved over to Muay Thai because pure sport competition wasn't cutting it—it felt more like a cage than a way to grow.
Unlike what’s being claimed in the quote, I’ve actually found plenty of self-control and zen. I train because I want to refine my technique and work on the stuff I still suck at—timing, distance, fluidity. And honestly? If I can ever hit that subconscious level of reaction where everything just happens automatically... well, I’ve actually felt that happen a few times. At this point, after 17 years in the game, I train because I literally can't imagine doing anything else. It’s just part of who I am now.🙂
Adam Harris29 said:I've been training BJJ since I can remember, and honestly, zero regrets!
Why? Because back then I didn't know any better, but now it's just who I am!
Adam Grant32 said:Hey, I'm pretty new to combat sports. I've been training Karate for about a year now, so I was wondering why you guys all got into this, what you're currently training, and how long you've been at it.
Man, my story is kind of a fluke. About a year ago, a buddy of mine who does UFC invited me to come by as a sparring partner. Right then and there, my coach told me I really needed a solid foundational style if I ever wanted to actually develop any real skill. So, I jumped into Karate, and honestly? It’s been awesome. Even though it wasn't exactly what I originally signed up for, I'm loving it.
So, what's everyone else's deal?

Bryan Fowler4 said:I'm gonna have to disagree here... once you're done crushing it at the gym, your muscles need something fast-acting to kickstart recovery, and that means whey paired with some glucose.
p.s. honestly, if you're already dropping cash on whey, just bite the bullet and buy the good stuff—go with Labrada, Optimum Nutrition, or something legit... don't waste money on that cheap garbage🙂 because you never know what kind of junk they're stuffing in there.
