So, I just got put on the same treatment plan. My doctor’s claiming the swelling should go down by tomorrow. Yeah, right... we'll see about that. If it doesn't budge, she says she'll just throw antibiotics at me.
Honestly, that nasty little crap doesn't even hit me past the ankle, and I pick it up out in the pasture every single time. 👎
Man, I’m just now seeing this post. Something almost identical happened to me, and this is actually the third time it’s gone down like this. My ankle is so swollen right now I can barely move it, so I’m heading straight to the doctor tomorrow. I was on a different treatment plan this time. The first two times they threw antibiotics and some topical ointment at me, and the swelling didn't even start to budge until day four or five. Honestly, I’m starting to think the antibiotics are a total waste of time here.
So, how many days did it take for the swelling in your leg to finally go down?

My old man would never have a clue where he parked his car if I didn't point it out to him, and the guy takes the long way around every single time instead of just using the shortcut we know. So, if you ask me, let's just leave it at that.😠 😬
Seriously, you really need to learn how to chill and take a joke. You're being way too high-strung! 😬
The biggest thing is just being smart about which bus you hop on. Seriously, don't be shy—ask the staff exactly which gate your ride is pulling up to. And hey, look up some backup transit options too, just in case someone decides to cancel last minute.
I’ve been stuck at a terminal before, though it was just a small local shuttle and not many people around. I stayed alert, but I didn't let it stress me out too much. Just grab a book and sip on a decent Italian coffee while you wait.
If you somehow manage to get lost—God forbid—just play dumb. Find the first cop you see; those Italians will help you out in a heartbeat, or they might even point you toward a cute guy to meet! 👍

Look, it’s always Hannah’s fault! Seriously, I was actually worried my prescription was going up again! 🤣 🤣 🤣
Haha, I was just about to say—it’s like people from Italy can't wrap their heads around a single language other than Italian! 🙂 But look, honestly, it feels like the real issue here is how you're planning this trip, not getting lost. You have a smartphone in your pocket; use Google to scout out every possible way to reach your friend. And ask her to dig up some actual intel for you. Where even is this place?
Anyway, bus stations in major US cities are usually packed with people and have coffee shops running 24/7. You'll figure it out. Speaking from experience, there's nothing quite like that first solo trip into the unknown—it’s a rush! Grab a guidebook before you head out and follow the online maps. It's half the fun!
Walter Ramirez3, you’re honestly such a selfless person. Maybe that’s why you have so much to give—because you were robbed of that basic sense of security you usually get from having solid parents. From what you're saying, your folks are way too wrapped up in themselves to ever actually be your biggest cheerleaders or offer any real encouragement. It makes total sense why you feel so exposed around selfish people; you're basically dealing with a carbon copy of your home life, where everyone is obsessed with themselves instead of looking out for you.
Right now, it feels like you're caught in a tug-of-war between your dad's weaknesses and your mom's strength. You clearly see the path forward, but actually taking that step feels impossible even though the opportunities are right there in front of you.
You strike me as a powerhouse, but man, that internal brake holding you back is just as strong. You need to look closely at that brake—it's living inside you, not in the people around you.
Classic women, right? Nothing changes! 🙂 Honestly, if you can tell your left from your right and don't get lost looking for North, there’s still hope for you!
I’ve got a pretty decent sense of direction. It blows my mind how some people can't even distinguish left from right. I’m great at parallel parking, I crush those obstacle courses during driving tests, and I can read maps or Tarot cards like a pro. But if I'm not paying attention, I could literally get lost walking out of a Target! 🤣 No clue why—maybe I just navigate by the sun or the stars—but being indoors totally throws me off. Back in the day, my Importanac used to be Inferno... 🤣
I heard that one trick American women use is memorizing landmarks, so maybe give that a shot! Use stuff like big buildings or hills as your anchors, and once you get the hang of using a map, you'll be fine. Good luck!
Edward Green said:Look, I'm talking about a stretch of time where I cycled through a few different eye doctors and several pairs of glasses, and my head still throbbed the whole time. 🙂 For a while, I actually walked around without any corrective lenses at all because anything was better than those constant headaches. Ever since I switched to contacts, the headaches stopped and I can actually see. It's been six years like this. It works for me, and frankly, I don't give a damn whether whoever you saw before was competent or not.😁
Man, what a mess. There are seriously some total amateurs out there...
Zachary Thompson9 said:Nah, he just hasn't actually met him or seen him yet. 😬
"Are the gray hairs just a phase?" asks the guy pulling the trigger 🙏
I'm definitely putting that one in my journal...
🤣 🤣 🤣
And thinking this is just temporary... man, give me a break...
:klap:
Poor kid, you actually believe everything they feed you! 🤣 🤣 🤣 You know how it goes, though... luck favors the bold.
So, just a quick reminder of how blind Walter Hayes5 actually is...
Walter Hayes5 said:My prescription is a -3.5, so there isn't much of a difference. Without my contacts, I am effectively blind. I own glasses, but they're based on an old prescription, so they basically only serve the purpose of helping me stumble around the house for twenty minutes before I hit the sack. I once wore them to walk a few feet from my apartment to drop something off for a neighbor, and I saw well enough to walk right past her because I didn't realize it was her standing there.😳
The point is, you can definitely manage without them, just like Edward Green mentioned. I went three whole years without any glasses at all, and now I've gone and gotten these lousy things that I don't even want.
Of course, it's smarter to have a backup pair like I suggested in my first post, but you can certainly survive without them.
...so apparently she can't see that I'm just telling people there's zero reason to be embarrassed about wearing glasses and that there are times when they're a lifesaver. William Thomas3 is convinced they don't look good on her, and since she hasn't worn them until now, I guess she still doesn't plan to. All I'm saying is it's not a big deal and she thinks they won't suit her. I was trying to be encouraging, not lecturing her.
I don't know, Walter Hayes5, why you totally misread me and decided to come at me. Nowhere did I say contacts take up too much time?? Maybe don't post when your blood sugar is crashing or when your 401(k) takes a dip below the market average. 😁
Look, the perks of contacts are obvious, but any eye doctor will tell you your eyes need a break from them during the day. Not to mention there are medical issues where you absolutely cannot wear a contact because you'll risk contamination (like a stye). Headaches, dust, staring at a computer screen all day, losing a lens, or some random finger poking your eye... those are all moments where glasses are clutch. You can pop them on in a heartbeat if "speed" is such a massive issue for you. That's why I recommend glasses as a backup tool, not that I'm claiming they're inherently superior to contacts.
Unfortunately, Walter Hayes5, I have to point out that your knowledge of ophthalmology is just as shallow as your way of cleaning lenses.😬
Look, whatever you do, stay far away from red wine before you sing. Even just a little bit can mess with your vocal cords. Same goes for anything carbonated—skip the soda. I'm sure someone already told you to take some calcium and Vitamin C, so stick to that. And for heaven's sake, make sure those eggs are cooked right so you don't end up with salmonella. 😬
Edward Green, you clearly have a terrible eye doctor. I’ve dealt with prescription mismatches before too, but the only time I had a disaster was when some "genius" sub doc filled in for my regular ophthalmologist while he was on vacation, and those lenses gave me a massive migraine. I don't get why you didn't just file a complaint immediately to get a re-check and a new pair of lenses??? One side was probably way off, either too strong or too weak.
I honestly will never understand why some people are so insecure about wearing glasses. There is zero shame in being nearsighted and rocking frames. These days, you can find basically any style you want at any shop. It blows my mind that people won't even take a simple step to fix their own comfort.
🤣William Thomas3, you'd be better off just getting LASIK. Or maybe just DIY it in your garage.
Edward Green said:I’ve been rocking contacts for six years straight. I don't even own a pair of glasses. You don't actually need them if you don't want to.
Man, give me a break. If you're sitting at a -4.00 prescription like I am, you better have some backup glasses. This isn't just about squinting at the TV; it's about driving. Imagine losing a contact lens and being totally stranded because you can't see a damn thing behind the wheel without your glasses...
Go with glasses, seriously. You just can't wear contacts all day long without hitting a wall. If your eyes start stinging or looking bloodshot, you're done—and yeah, even those fancy soft lenses eventually get annoying. Sure, there are some specialized ones out there designed for sleeping, but that’s a whole different ballgame. Besides, you already have a dedicated thread about contacts.
Glasses are actually pretty stylish.
It’s safe. I already went through the whole cardiac workup and everything came back clean. The doctor basically told me to cut back on the coffee, stop smoking, lay off the booze, and manage my stress... maybe pop a Xanax here and there to chill out, though I don't go that route. It usually hits me hardest during PMS, so it's probably just my hormones acting up.
Don't let fear get in the way—get yourself to a doctor right now so they can run some actual tests and figure out what's going on.
It sounds to me like you're someone who normally deals with low blood pressure and is super sensitive to caffeine (and trust me, those local coffee shops are loaded with it)
Keep your fluids up. If you're dehydrated, it'll trigger everything from those nasty headaches to your heart racing. But seriously, go see a professional!
