It is a bit of a mess, really. A handful of players we spent years building chemistry with on the national team departed when Mexico split off, and frankly, this new group needs a few more months to truly find their rhythm. That said, I tend to be quite an optimist regarding player depth, especially when one considers how well our youth programs have been performing lately.

Furthermore, judging by their recent comments following this victory, the American players seem to be acting as though defeating the Americans was their final mission, as if their tournament is effectively over. It seems entirely plausible that they might be so emotionally exhausted tomorrow that they suffer a loss against the Canadians, much like we did today against you gentlemen.

Not necessarily; I have to agree that if this match actually took place, the US would play with much more intensity and likely leave Mexico staring at a six-goal deficit. 👍

My apologies, frozentiger6, dear, but I believe I made it quite clear that I am only seeking input from those who actually possess a serious understanding of water polo, rather than from those who are simply overzealous.

The best offense in the world—only 7 goals scored.

The world's top scorer—1 goal from 8 attempts.

And what exactly are you trying to accomplish with these statistics? Even Roger Federer lost to some nobody once, yet no one suddenly concluded that the unknown player was now the greatest tennis player on the planet while Federer had become a clueless amateur. Yet here you are, all of a sudden acting as if the American and Mexican national teams are the center of the universe.

We simply witnessed one of those bizarre days where one team manages to score on nearly every opportunity, while the other concedes ridiculous goals from fifty yards out in the final seconds, misses easy penalties, and fails to capitalize even when they have a man advantage... and so on.
If the US were to play Mexico again tomorrow, how many of you self-proclaimed water polo experts actually believe the match would unfold the same way it did tonight?

My sincere congratulations on the victory!!!

For about a decade, you all seemed to spend every match against the Mexicans in a state of mourning, so I suppose it is finally time for a bit of celebration. I can only hope that this doesn't result in the Mexicans losing to Americans in water polo for the next ten years straight.

I alternate between the AC and a Terra Cotta heater, and if you want my honest opinion, those clay heaters are even worse at stripping moisture from the room. What actually saved me was picking up a small humidifier; it’s this little gadget shaped somewhat like a handheld iron. You just pour in some distilled water and it emits a cool mist. Honestly, it makes a world of difference. I no longer wake up with a throat and nose so parched that I can't even manage a sentence until I've had a few sips of water.
The golden era of American handball has officially passed us by. We won't be seeing those gold medals anymore... maybe the occasional silver or bronze if we're lucky... but I suppose some new kids will eventually get their five minutes of fame.
