As far as extensions go, I'm only running AdBlock Plus, but the weird thing is, this keeps happening even after I totally disable AdBlock and clear out all my cookies.
It honestly feels like nothing changes at all. 😵

I'm using Google Chrome, and I always make sure to click that little checkbox—if that even matters, I guess.
It’s doing the exact same thing on my phone, too. Just straight Google Chrome without any extra extensions installed.

Casey Bennett said:Come on, you gotta be kidding me! It’s logging you out just because of a checkmark? I'm gonna need some actual details here. Like, what browser are you running? Do you have some random extension installed that auto-clears your cookies? What about your antivirus or a firewall?
I basically need the whole setup! 😁

No, seriously though. Just saying "it logs me out" isn't really enough info for us to even start looking into this, let alone actually fix it. I mean, there are plenty of us here who aren't getting kicked off, so it's probably something specific to your machine or settings.

We've actually touched on this issue before. It started happening to me, and then right around that same time, a bunch of other folks on the forum started dealing with it too.
Basically, most of the time when I'm halfway through typing a post and I hit submit, it just kicks me out. But if I just do a quick refresh, it brings me right back in, which makes me think I wasn't actually logged out in the first place.

Larry Walker24 said:you can't actually block the mods

It’s kind of funny because ChatGPT, acting as a bot, actually gave a wrong answer that was still somehow more useful and smarter than whatever you just said.
If you know what you're doing, UBlock can pretty much wipe out any HTML element you want.

I guess if you aren't really sure what you're talking about, maybe it's better to just stay quiet.

I was wondering if anyone here knows how to set up an AdBlock filter so I can just completely hide certain users from my feed?
Basically, I want it to automatically detect their posts, their handles, their avatars... honestly, anything, and just scrub them away like they're some annoying pop-up ad.
The built-in ignore feature on this site is pretty mediocre and doesn't really work the way it's supposed to.
I'll probably just spend a few hours digging through it myself, but if someone could point me in the right direction, it would save me a ton of headache. Thanks.

Edit: I tried asking ChatGPT, but what it gave me wasn't really helpful.

1. 1. open the AdBlock extension in your browser and click on the Dashboard.
2. Head over to the "My filters" tab.
3. You can add this line to block a specific user:

http://www.reddit.com##.post:has(.post...ext(/username/))

Just swap out "username" for whatever handle you're trying to block. This should wipe out every single post that person makes.

4. Hit "Apply changes" to lock it in.

After you've added that, those specific posts should disappear from your view. If you've got a whole list of people you want to ghost, you can just keep adding more filters using that same method.

Jack Cook7 said:The password needs to be at least 8 characters long, using a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, some numbers, and maybe a few special symbols like ! or # or even an equals sign or a dash.

Honestly, if I had to use a password like that, I probably wouldn't even be able to log in myself after a day or two. 😵

Casey Bennett said:I mean, if someone was actually that obsessed with reading forum DMs, they’d probably just target specific people they found interesting instead. It would be way more low-key that way.
And honestly, nobody would even realize they’d been hacked unless there were those crazy messages left in their signature.

Yeah, you've got a point there. I guess I really don't have any clue what actually drives hackers to do what they do. 😵

As far as my email goes, I actually set up a dedicated one just for this forum, so if things ever go sideways, it wouldn't really be a huge deal.
And I'm pretty sure I can trust that getting my forum profile back won't be too much of a headache. 🙂

I’m actually pretty curious about what really drives the hackers hanging out on these forums.
Maybe they just want to snoop through someone’s private messages? I guess that's a possibility.

But honestly, posting those ridiculous links? They’ve probably realized by now that nobody is actually clicking on them.
I even tried clicking one once, and man, the website was so incredibly weird—it was at one point so bizarrely designed that if I had actually wanted to give them some money, I wouldn't have even known how to figure it out. 🤣

Casey Bennett said:I guess a ton of other forums are dealing with this exact same headache.
You really ought to watch your email addresses closely. Use tough passwords, set up two-factor authentication, and all that stuff.

Once I finally manage to crack someone's password, I can just breeze right into their profile and swap out the email address without any drama.
I’ll say it again, though—I can change an email address, and the notification about that change only goes to the new address I provided, which, according to the new rules, becomes the only email used for password resets too.

You might have two-factor authentication active on your original email or whatever, but honestly, it doesn't even matter. It's kind of pointless.
It feels pretty useless when this damn forum makes it way too easy to just swap out an entire address without asking for any verification at all.

I'm not saying this has actually happened yet, since looking at the hacked profiles, it seems the emails stayed the same.
And look, I'm not saying there isn't some way to fix things if it does go down, but man, don't try to lecture me about security.

I mean, I’m starting to think the issue might actually be with the forum itself, because I keep getting these random notifications saying I'm not logged in and can't post, even though everything works perfectly fine once I just hit refresh.
If some random extension had gone ahead and wiped out my cookies, I guess I’d probably have to log back into the forum from scratch, but that hasn't really been happening.

mistybison said:Lately, I’ve been getting logged out constantly too, even though I have the "remember me" box checked when I'm using my tablet. It usually happens right when I'm finishing up a long post and hit "Send," only to realize I've been kicked out. It’s honestly such a pain having to copy everything into a notes app before hitting send just in case, because it feels like it happens almost every single time.

It’s started happening to me now as well, and I definitely have that persistent login option turned on.
It seems like it only really kicks me off when I'm on my phone, so I'm wondering if maybe a recent Google Chrome update is causing the glitch.
The weird thing is I don't even have to actually log back in manually. It just tosses me out and says I'm not signed in, but then I just hit refresh and everything goes back to normal immediately.

But yeah, it is super annoying. 🙂

Honestly, I think the best part is when you're just flying under the radar for a while, and then the second you trip up or do something stupid, they suddenly notice you and start stalking your every move, trying to penalize you for absolutely everything—whether it actually matters or not. 🤣
Moderator Replacement in Feedback & Suggestions ·
If you go ahead and pull the current person out, you’ve gotta slot someone else in there, right? I mean, otherwise you’re just left with a subforum that doesn't have a moderator, and then nobody is actually going to step up to handle any reports once they start rolling in.
Moderator Replacement in Feedback & Suggestions ·
So, if you were in charge, which of the regular users would you actually nominate to step up as the new moderators?
I mean, what’s even the point of letting the current crew pick if their choices end up being totally useless to you anyway, right?

To be totally honest, I haven't even really read his stuff in detail. 🤣 So, maybe don't go pulling your hair out or screaming just yet, let's just take it easy. 🙂

Just drop a link to whatever you think is better. 👍

They definitely started off strong, but I feel like the more you read, the more everything just kind of falls apart. 😵
If I told you I was meden, would that mean anything to you?

Nicole Myers said:I honestly thought Temu was just some massive internet prank or a joke, but if it turns out I'm actually crazy and this is legit... here's the link. So, I was thinking about this the other day—probably shouldn't be spending my afternoon overthinking hygiene, but here we are—and I kept wondering if anyone else gets genuinely tripped up by the whole deodorant versus antiperspirant debate. It seems like such a small thing, right? But honestly, if you're trying to stay fresh during a humid summer in Chicago or just running errands around town, there’s actually a pretty big difference between the two, even if most people just grab whatever is on sale at CVS. Basically, if you're looking at just a deodorant, you're mostly dealing with something that masks the scent. It’s all about those fragrances and maybe some antibacterial stuff to kill off the bacteria that makes you smell funky when you sweat. It doesn't actually stop you from getting wet, though. So, if you're someone who sweats a ton, you might find yourself feeling a bit damp even if you don't technically "smell" bad yet. Antiperspirants are a slightly different beast altogether. They usually contain aluminum-based salts, which basically act like a temporary plug for your sweat glands. I guess the idea is to physically block the moisture from reaching the surface of your skin. So, if your main goal is staying bone-dry while you're out walking through NYC or stuck in a stuffy office, an antiperspirant is probably what you're actually looking for. I mean, personally, I tend to lean toward the antiperspirant side of things, especially when the weather gets heavy, but I can see why people prefer just a regular deodorant if they have sensitive skin or if they just want something more natural. It really just comes down to whether you're worried more about the smell or the actual moisture. It's kind of a toss-up depending on your body chemistry, I suppose. Just something to keep in mind next time you're wandering the aisles!

Nicole Myers, look, you know I think you’re one of my absolute favorite people on this whole forum, but honestly, reading that article you posted just makes me want to bury my head in a pillow and scream while pulling my hair out.

granitegardener said:I mean, just go ahead and splurge on a good antiperspirant so you don't have to worry about killing off all those bacteria or fungi or whatever, right? On any other day, life's just a little bit easier when you aren't dealing with that stuff—it’s probably just a second or two of difference, but it does the trick.

So, did someone seriously tell you that antiperspirant is strictly just for stopping sweat? Is that really what you think?

We kind of need him around on the forum just as much as we deal with Larry Walker24.
