Timeouts in soccer? in Soccer ·
Look, I’m not saying I’m totally against bringing in new rules, but there’s gotta be some kind of order. You can't just have officials making calls whenever they feel like it. Imagine you're on a breakaway, three-on-one against the goalie, and suddenly the ref calls a timeout? Under the current rulebook, it feels like that could actually happen. During that game, the Lakers were mid-attack with zero interruptions, and then out of nowhere, the ref blows the whistle and ruins everything. It's absolute nonsense.

We really need to start bringing in some timeouts, but they’ve gotta be based on specific criteria. If we just leave everything up to the refs' discretion, there's way too much room for shady business to happen under the table.

I’m with you on that, but there’s gotta be a process. You can't just have the ref blow the whistle mid-play and call it a day—that’s just messy. If they're gonna stop things, wait for a natural break in the action. And honestly, the whole heat thing? Give me a break. There’s a massive difference between a nice 75 degrees and a brutal 105-degree scorcher in Phoenix. As for players running around like they've got caffeine in their veins, I don't know, maybe that's just part of the game. In my book, this was just a one-off weird situation in the MLS.

Look, we aren't talking about some brutal heatwave here. It was just nice weather. At 1 PM, it was like 84 degrees in the city, and by 5 PM, it had actually cooled down to maybe 77. Anyway, this one player walks up to the ref, says something, and then just heads straight back to the bench to grab some water. Suddenly, everyone starts moving, and right then, the ref calls a timeout. Honestly, it didn't even matter what was happening on the field, but trust me, you would’ve been just as baffled as I was.

I’ve been following soccer for about 30 years now, but what I witnessed during that second division match between the local club and their opponents was something out of a fever dream. Seriously, in the 33rd minute, the ref just blows the whistle and tells everyone to take a water break?!?? Of course, the bench went absolutely ballistic because they were right in the middle of a massive push toward the goal, and the fans were losing their minds too. Even the club execs from both sides and the linesmen were just standing there looking at each other like, "Is this guy for real?" Sure, it was a warm day in Phoenix, but it wasn't exactly a heatwave. I’ve watched MLS playoffs and high-stakes tournament games played in 100-degree weather without anyone calling a mid-game hydration timeout. Has anyone else ever dealt with something this absurd? To top it off, the ref was that guy Grizelj—the same dude who totally screwed over the home team last year in a game that actually got him suspended after the league reviewed the footage.

Thanks, I've got my referral, so now I'm just looking for the Mayo Clinic near the train station.

I need to head over to that clinic for an appointment, but I’m totally lost on where it’s actually located. Anyone from Seattle happen to know where they're at?
