Usually, I wear a US size 18 or 20. But according to their sizing chart, I’m looking at a 24 or 26🤷. Are these things just running super small? Because what even is a size 2—is that for a baby? 🙂

Look, I can't explain exactly how the pain jumped from my right side over to the left... so I figured maybe
a) the same old hernia just slid a bit to the left
b) the doctor shoved it around during surgery
c) all that extra junk from the operation—you know, the internal sutures and swelling—is just crushing a nerve and sending shooting pains down my leg

🙄 Since none of my theories sounded great, I asked the doc how much of a jelly-like mess that disc actually is and if it could really just shift like that. 😲

Jamie Clark74, look, I get the general idea, but this isn't my field. I’m not about to sit here and play doctor by guessing

The thing is, I don't actually get what a disc looks like or just HOW much of a jelly-like mess it really is... why am I asking?
Like I said, the herniation was right in the center
The surgery focused on the right side and it seems to have worked... the numbness in my leg is fading and now it's just down to my foot... zero pain

But here's the kicker (and since I'm a layman, I can't explain it perfectly, but I want to know my stuff before I head to my follow-up): the exact same symptoms that forced me into surgery have started popping up in my OTHER leg—the left one (though honestly, it's not quite as bad yet)
That means: this shooting pain that swirls around my hip and travels down the back of my leg to the knee

So now I'm stuck wondering—is this just a fluke or did the surgery cause this?

I'm seeing my primary care physician tomorrow, so I'll grab the intake and surgical reports from the hospital. Once I have those, maybe I can give you guys a more coherent breakdown

I’ve posted about my sciatica and herniated disc before, but honestly, there’s no point starting a whole new thread since it feels like ages ago now.

Can anyone give me the lowdown on what kind of "side effects" I should expect from this surgery? This thing—whether it leaked out of the disc or just bulged out, I don't even know how to describe it—is sitting right in the center and absolutely crushing my nerve.
