The Rocky Horror Picture Show in Movies ·
Yeah, I've seen it 🙂
The movie is legendary. It has such incredible scenes and songs...
A whole crowd of drag performers and absolute lunatics all gathered in one mansion—it's wild!
...and Tim Curry is unforgettable in those platforms and that corset 😁

But honestly, I know very few people who have actually watched it. Every time I bring it up, everyone just stares at me blankly and asks if it's that thing with the boxer?!?
It's sad

The author of the book this movie is based on wrote:

"If you let them, a child will take one hundred percent of you. It’s only natural that they want that and try for it. Motherhood is essentially a dance on the edge between your own needs and the needs of your child. Ingrid has this flaw where she has a child, but she refuses to actually engage in that dance. She never once stopped to look at her and ask, 'What does my child actually need?' But somehow, she loved her."

Okay, so she did a great job describing her protagonist, and it’s honestly heartbreaking that there are women out there who view their own kids this way.
...but still, calling having a kid a "flaw" is just unnecessary. How can anyone even say something like that?!? 😲

Did nobody actually watch the movie? 😕

Where are all the reviews?

Eh, I watched it too. Honestly, I almost fell asleep—soooo boring. 🙂

Just finished watching this movie. It was excellent.
Michelle Pfeiffer plays this mentally unstable mother—a total selfish manipulator. At the same time, she’s incredibly talented, smart, capable, and strong...
Such a fascinating character.

Unfortunately, Renée Zellweger is also in this 😢 . She looks like someone who’s severely intellectually impaired and has been sunburned. It's terrifying!

Alison Lohman (Astrid) does an amazing job playing the daughter suffering under this "special" mother. Once her mom ( 😁 ) goes to prison, she's left on her own. It's tough, but she grows into an artist... and so on.

I'll stop there so I don't spoil anything for those who haven't seen it yet.

Can't wait to hear what you all think!
Phone Booth in Movies ·
...anyone seen it yet?

Before heading to the theater, I hadn't heard much about this movie other than the lead, of course: the legendary Colin Farrell (honestly, that alone is enough 😉).

I can't remember the last time I watched a film where 99% of the action takes place in such a mundane setting as a phone booth, yet it was still gripping and engaging.

Anyway, long story short, I’d definitely recommend it.
If you haven't seen it, go watch it. If you have, let me know what you thought!

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I actually happen to be reading the book right now—it's fantastic! 👍
Once I finish it, I'm planning to watch the film!
I just hope I don't go in with too many expectations and end up disappointed!
Frida Kahlo in Movies ·
Way to go, Richard Hernandez13!
I don't see anything wrong with using movies to expand your horizons.
Actually, this film was my first introduction to Frida, too. She blew me away so much that I ended up Googling her biography and looking up her work—which is exactly why I started this thread.
I'm 16, and I truly believe film is the perfect bridge to get young people interested in art. If I had just heard about her once in a classroom, she probably would have just been lost in the sea of a hundred thousand other facts I'm forced to learn. It wouldn't have hit me nearly as hard.
Without this movie, I doubt I’d ever dream of visiting one of her exhibits, but now? I can't wait for the chance!
Frida Kahlo in Movies ·
I don't think she was "really" a lesbian; she just had a pretty wild and colorful life 🙂
It’s obvious she had a few flings—she just wanted to experiment a little

Good for her! 😁
Russell Crowe finally tied the knot!
BOOM!!!
Frida Kahlo in Movies ·
Please, you guys have to watch this movie!
I was totally won over... though maybe it’s more accurate to say I was captivated by Frida Kahlo herself! The woman was just incredibly charismatic, talented, and one-of-a-kind...
The scenes where they weave her artwork directly into the story of her life were especially stunning—just phenomenal!

I heard Salma Hayek actually shaved her eyebrows to match the look—she refused to wear makeup for the role. That is so brave!

Can't wait to hear what you all think! 🙂
