Wisdom tooth extraction - help! in Health ·
I honestly can't even begin to explain how much I hate dealing with people who think they’re doctors just because they spent ten minutes scrolling through WebMD at three in the morning. It’s like, we all know that feeling where you get a tiny headache and suddenly you're convinced it’s something catastrophic, but there’s a massive difference between having a little anxiety and acting like an absolute expert on medical science when you don't have a single credential to your name. I remember this one time back in Chicago, I was sitting in a coffee shop and listening to this lady next to me go on a twenty-minute rant about how her seasonal allergies were actually some rare autoimmune disorder she read about online, and I just had to stare into my latte and wonder how we got here. It’s exhausting, really. You try to have a normal conversation, maybe share a quick thought or a bit of actual information, and suddenly you're being lectured by someone who thinks their Google search results carry more weight than years of actual medical training. It just wears you down. kaže:
I finally went under the knife this morning to get my wisdom teeth pulled, and honestly, I’m still standing! It definitely hurts, but nothing I can't handle. Looking back, I really should have just bit the bullet and done this sooner—it would've saved me all the stress and potential complications down the road. Better to deal with the headache now than wait for things to get messy later.👍

So, I finally went under the knife last week to get my first wisdom tooth pulled at the surgical center, and I just had the stitches taken out this past Monday. Honestly, it was pretty rough for a couple of days—dealing with some swelling and that dull, throbbing ache—but once I started staying on top of the painkillers, things smoothed out big time. I’m feeling awesome now, totally back in the groove, and ready to tackle what's next... only three more to go.🙂 I guess I’ll make it through this whole mess somehow!
Stomach flu? in Health ·
dustyowl29 said:So, it all kicked off yesterday—first the muscle aches, then a low-grade fever of about 99°F, followed by vomiting and stomach cramps. I haven't been able to keep anything down since yesterday morning, which isn't exactly a fun way to spend a day...
Things are looking slightly better today; I managed some dry toast and tea, though that 99°F fever is still hanging around.
Any idea what I'm in for?
Should I expect to turn a corner in a couple of days?

Oh man....if this is the stomach flu, which sounds exactly like what you're dealing with, I've actually gone through it twice myself. It’s weird, it hit me two years in a row right at the start of September.😕
Anyway, for me, it was a total nightmare—all I could handle was plain toast and some tea that tasted pretty nasty, I lost a few pounds I definitely didn't want to lose, and I was just writhing on the floor from the pain since there isn't really a magic pill for it. But the silver lining is that it usually clears up after a few days, which is exactly how it went for me. Hang in there.👍
Life after a splenectomy and appendectomy in Health ·
As far as the spleen goes, I don't see any issues at all. My best friend actually ended up living without his when he was only nine years old after a bad car accident. He functions perfectly fine now and feels great. Everything is going to be alright; you just have to get used to the new reality. Wishing the little one nothing but the best.
Dealing with extremely low iron levels in Health ·
Sam Ruiz7 said:question: I’ve been feeling pretty wiped out for a while now, but lately it’s gotten way worse—like, if I walk up two steps, I feel like I’m actually going to pass out. I went to get blood work done this morning to check my iron levels since I’ve always struggled with anemia, and honestly, seeing the results gave me a massive scare: hemoglobin is at 74 (normal range is 119-157), and iron is sitting at 0.7 (normal is 8-20). Has anyone else dealt with something this extreme? thx

I’ve definitely been there. It was the exact same thing for me. At first, they just had me taking some basic iron supplements from the drugstore, which helped for about a month before everything crashed again—and it hit me twice as hard the second time. I ended up struggling with it for over a year. Given how low your numbers are, you really need to get a referral and go see a hematologist at a hospital like Mayo Clinic or something similar; once I finally saw a specialist, they put me on much more "serious" medication, basically a heavy-duty treatment plan, because they told me straight up that those over-the-counter pills aren't going to cut it when things are this bad. One of my friends felt so terrible she actually had to get iron infusions at the clinic, so yeah, you'll figure out the best route once you talk to your doctor.
And don't forget, you have to eat really well; pills alone are never enough to fix this. I used to drink these specific beet and blueberry juices and made sure to load up on anything high in iron. You really have to be disciplined about eating quality food and getting plenty of Vitamin C to help it absorb. 😉 It’s a grind because your iron levels won't just jump back up overnight, but if you stay on top of it, you'll be totally fine.
Back then, my iron was hovering between 0.6 and 2, but after staying consistent, I've been right around 13 for almost a year now.

I know a bra can definitely be the culprit, like if the straps are pulling way too tight on your shoulders.

Honestly, I don't think that's my issue. It’s more likely just my terrible posture, or maybe the fact that I spend way too many hours hunched over at the university or just sitting around all day.😢

Maybe a professional massage, watching your posture, or sleeping on a totally flat surface... might help ease things up...

I've actually been sleeping without a pillow for a while now. Honestly, whenever I try using one, everything just feels way worse. As for massages, yeah, I'm down, but only if it's from a physical therapist—at least that's what everyone tells me. I wouldn't touch those spa massages in a beauty salon.

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else here has dealt with something similar lately... For the past few days, I’ve been getting these intense headaches out of nowhere at least twice a day, and then the pain starts spreading down into my neck and shoulders. It honestly feels like a nerve is getting pinched somewhere in that area—sometimes it’s the neck, sometimes it’s the shoulder—and there are times when I can't even turn my head or shrug my shoulders without feeling this sharp, stabbing pain for a few minutes. I really don't want to go running to the doctor immediately unless I have to, so I wanted to see if any of you have gone through this and how you managed to fix it? Thanks!😕
Retroverted uterus: What to expect? in Women's Health ·
Karen Nguyen said:My daughter-in-law has a retroverted uterus, and they actually caught it right when she found out she was pregnant. She hasn't had any issues at all, and she’s already eight months along now.

I actually have a retroverted uterus myself, though my doctor basically told me there’s zero reason to stress about it. Pregnancies go totally fine, and while delivery might be a little more intense—though definitely not always🙂—she did mention I might deal with some extra back pain during the pregnancy. But overall, they aren't expecting any special complications.
My mom has it too, and she never had a single problem.
How to stay alert and focused? in Health ·
placidranger;9928360 said:black tea (like those Indian blends) is killer for staying awake, and you don't get that pounding headache you always get from coffee. 👍

Since black tea is packed with caffeine, it gives you that nice little kick to fight off the drowsiness and fatigue.

Honestly, that sounds like a lifesaver...👍
I actually tried some Red Bull earlier and I think it’s working. I had one with breakfast this morning, and I still feel totally wired and alert—which is wild because usually after grinding through 8 or 9 hours of studying, I'm basically a zombie.
Ugh... it kind of hits me all at once when I realize I've been hitting the books for 8 or 9 hours straight and I'm nowhere near being finished. 👎 😠

Sam Hughes5 said:So, you grab one of those Red Bull energy effervescent tablets—you know, the kind where they just toss a single one in the pack—and you just drop it straight into your shaker bottle. Honestly, it’s a total game changer. I was out training the other day, feeling pretty sluggish, but once that thing dissolved, it hit just right. It keeps you focused and steady through the whole grind without that weird jittery crash. Definitely worth having in your gym bag.

I just grabbed a Red Bull with some guarana in it... we'll see how it goes.🙂
I might give that Milka cappuccino a shot, but honestly, I can't make any promises because I've always been pretty much allergic to coffee.🙂

Has anyone actually messed around with that guarana stuff yet? Honestly, I’m not even looking for those memory-boosting pills, I just need something to help me stay awake and alert, whether it’s a tea or something else entirely... whatever works.🙂

Hey everyone.😉 I’ve been digging through a few similar threads, but honestly, nothing really hits on what I actually need right now. I’m staring down this massive exam and basically have to grind all day long, but my focus just keeps tanking and I can't stop nodding off. I think the issue is that I don't touch coffee—or anything like it, really—because the taste is just gross to me. I tried leaning on Red Bull for a bit, but after a few midterms, I couldn't even look at it without feeling nauseous. Please, if anyone has any advice, let me know. Is there anything else out there that can actually keep me awake through the day? I'm not looking for some magic potion or anything crazy, just something that works.🙂
