Since we've already been nitpicking the tiny details throughout the movie, let's talk about how trash cans falling from the ceiling during a grand opening of a new hall actually kill people. 😁

I also noticed yet another nod to Zabranjeno pušenje right after "Forest." I wonder if there’s a tribute in Lily too? Honestly, I haven't seen it.

That whole parallel argument really reminded me of Triumpha.

Aside from that, I didn't feel like the movie fell apart halfway through. If anything, it holds a more consistent rhythm than "Forest." That hostage crisis actually moves quite effectively into the mayor's office (in certain sequences, just to note how over-the-top it gets), while back in the classroom, they basically just eat a cake, psychoanalyze the kid, and call it a day. Those sudden shifts in narrative perspective and genre—even those total or partial breaks from specific characters—are actually pretty solid because they force you to react in a completely new way while watching.

As far as comedies go, it works. Though, watching those self-absorbed parents messing around in the middle of the Diary was held on screen for way too long.

And for sure, the teachers' strike and all the circus surrounding it felt like they were slotted in perfectly. 😵

I see you guys have already given the kid a massive beating, so I won't be too harsh. 😁

Just to add my two cents: behind every film style that leans heavily into those obvious "art house" vibes, there’s usually a very cold, hard economic calculation at play. Because, let's face it, otherwise you wouldn't have any work. It wasn't that German filmmakers in the 20s were obsessed with Expressionism, or the French with Poetic Realism, or the Russians with montage because they were pondering the deep mysteries of the universe. No. It was a calculated tactic to stay competitive on their own turf against the much wealthier and more massive American film industry.

Think about it—when the baby boomer generation hit their stride in the late 60s, riding that wave of social shifts toward hippie culture, LSD, and rock and roll, while getting hooked on directors like Fellini, Godard, and Antonioni, how did Hollywood react? To avoid losing out on that massive new market, American cinema loosened the reins on independent production, which finally allowed directors like your man Kubrick to break through.

The movie really should have wrapped up about 10 minutes earlier, right when things go south in the subway because someone jumps under a train. Basically, his sister should've been the one meeting her end under those tracks.
Everything that follows that moment doesn't actually add anything meaningful to the story, especially the way it all winds down. 🤷

Those "long distance wide shots" are fine enough when they're talking in a restaurant—you know, having to sit there and take the bosses being total creeps to his sister, or while he’s sprinting through the city while she's busy in bed with that guy.
But that marathon close-up sex scene? Seriously, why on earth did we need such extreme, "politically correct" angles? 🙄 🙄 It was just nonsense. Honestly, it felt more like a bathroom break for the audience than actual cinema.

The kissing scene with the guy isn't even that impactful, though maybe that's just because I hadn't fully bought into him as the embodiment of heterosexuality by that point.

I mean, look, it's a decent film, but the director went a bit too "daredevil" with the camerawork, I think.

Sure, these "coalition" setups might be a total nightmare to actually run compared to our old system where one party could claim eighty-something mandates on paper. But honestly? The idea that we aren't just blindly rotating the same tired names and parties every single election cycle is actually a win. It’s about time.
