Michelle Wood3 said:see how smart I am? first answer and the problem is basically solved 🙂

mad respect...👍
Michelle Wood3 said:so? did you actually try it? ☕

Oh, I totally did, just about half an hour ago🙏...man, it was incredible, tasted exactly right, smelled perfect, and I was just sitting there crushing cigarettes like a maniac... but honestly? Nothing happened, thanks for nothing, guys👍...

Man, oh man, tomorrow I am definitely bringing my thermos to work with me...🤣
Mania... panic attacks... wtf😲....I mean, I feel totally fine until that first cup of coffee hits, you know?🤣....Now I've been sticking to green tea and honestly, it's been awesome... that stuff just chills me right out, and I could seriously drink gallons of it without a second thought... but what else could be triggering this whole mania or panic thing?.... Is it just the caffeine, or are there other drinks or foods out there that do this to people?
Aaron Flores2 said:It’s not even about the caffeine. Red Bull is loaded with it—just like Coke or chocolate—but you don't feel it, right? This is a blood pressure thing. I deal with the exact same issue myself. I’ve never been a smoker and I don't touch coffee in the morning; I usually just grab a cup in the afternoon when I'm out with friends. I actually had to quit entirely because of these same symptoms, so now I’m strictly a tea person—even though there are days I'd kill for a decent latte.

I've tried basically every way to drink coffee: instant, those cheap pre-mixed packets, French press, decaf, you name it. I've messed with milk or no milk, tons of sugar or none at all, or just straight black... nothing works. The symptoms are always the same.

Honestly, there's no point in seeing a doctor; it's not like you're actually sick. Just switch to something else (I basically gained weight from drinking Nesquik, if you can believe it) and stay away from the coffee now, so you aren't dealing with this headache later.👍

So you're saying my blood pressure is the culprit?😕..wtf!?....I should probably go check it today, because lately my pressure has been acting a little wild... like 130 over 80... and I think my heart rate is sitting around 70... let me see, I really need to go measure it,,,
I think I'll give the decaf a shot and see if it turns out to be the exact same thing... honestly, who knows, right?

Wait, just like that? Out of nowhere? How come I used to be able to drink it all the time without a single issue?
rapidviper21 said:then there's no problem—the fix is just in your little "outburst"😁 when you get home, leave the job and the corporate grind at the door 😁 and actually focus on hanging out with your favorite people. I'll sound pathetic saying love heals everything, but hey, what else can you do? 🤣😍

lol, just thinking about that little LLC over there... haha!😂Man, oh man, where did I even hide that memory? Seriously, how on earth did I let that one slip my mind?👍Honestly, I actually find that I get my best rest while I'm on the clock, which sounds totally crazy right? It’s like this total state of relaxation because I’m not out there grinding on the road or anything, just holding down the fort at the station on duty, you know? They actually pulled me off field duty recently, but man, that is a whole other story for another time!🤣

Honestly, my work schedule is actually pretty killer, which basically means I’ve got plenty of downtime left over if I feel like just messing around or slacking off for a bit, you know?
rapidviper21 said:totally agree—stress is basically the root cause of all that high blood pressure and cholesterol nonsense. like, what’s the point if you have all four issues hitting you at once? just great.😉
all jokes aside, try carving out even a tiny bit of downtime every day: meditate, hit up a spa, play some pickup basketball with the guys, or just sit in silence for 20 minutes with some chill music. might seem like some total new age crap at first🙂 but seriously, give it a shot. it actually works.
same deal at work—try to dodge those stress triggers whenever you can. don't sweat the stuff that's totally out of your control, you know?

and yeah, about the coffee thing... I have a friend who’s literally allergic to it. turns out caffeine isn't everyone's best friend, and it can even change as you get older (you can develop allergies to stuff you used to be fine with)... but like nimblebison17 says, don't overthink it—just switch to decaf. smells the same anyway.☕

I mean, don't get me wrong, I am totally into meditation—it’s such a vibe, right? It really helps clear the head when things get hectic. But man, soccer? I’ve been playing that since I was a little kid, like, honestly feels like a lifetime already!👍...

Man, I honestly can't get even twenty minutes of peace around here because I’ve got this tiny little terror at home—she's only eighteen months old, but let me tell you, her favorite word is "NO," and I'm pretty sure she actually landed on this planet from another galaxy just to test my sanity! And don't even get me started on work, because trying to dodge risk factors while I'm out there on the beat as a police officer is basically a mission impossible, right? Plus, when I'm finally off the clock, I'm deep into the real estate game, working with my own little crew of guys from back home to get some properties built up, so life is just one big, beautiful whirlwind of chaos and construction!☕...
Robert Wilson16 said:Generally speaking, if you struggle with panic disorder, doctors usually tell you to steer clear of coffee—though I think it’s really just a warning about caffeine in general.
Do you deal with panic attacks?

Nah, I don't have any kind of formal panic disorder or those sudden panic attacks, if you know what I mean, but man, the anxiety is real... it's this heavy feeling, like total apathy mixed with this weird sense of regret for things I can't even name, it's just hard to put into words, honestly, it's pretty gnarly, and goodness, it absolutely wrecks me physically too, like my legs just turn to jelly... and sometimes, oh boy, after I've knocked over a mug or finished maybe two cups of joe, I'll be totally wired and jittery until lunch time!
rapidviper21 said:Adam Green2, based on those symptoms, you might be looking at high cholesterol—and don't get defensive, even fit people deal with this.
Basically, stress (!!!), cigarettes (!), and coffee (especially if it's too much or too strong) all mess with your levels. The weird thing about cholesterol is how it hits—it can feel like chest tightness or just this floating, depressive, anxious vibe, depending on the person.
I’d definitely suggest getting some blood work done just to see where your cholesterol stands.
If everything comes back fine, then your body is probably just screaming at you to slow down. 😉 Maybe try waiting to have that morning coffee and cigarette until after a big breakfast—at least then you'll have some food to buffer the damage.

Anyway, I’ve been there myself (I was a massive smoker and caffeine addict😛), and it’s basically that moment we all hit when we live too hard and our bodies finally say: "stop, time for a makeover." 😁

Hang in there, hope you feel better soon!🙂

Thanks👍

I haven't actually touched coffee in maybe a year or two now, if I remember right😕...but then like, a month ago, I tried one of those canned cappuccinos and man, what a disaster... as for the cholesterol, I already know it's high; my doctor at the local clinic told me during a checkup, and since I'm only about 160 lbs at 5'8", there's no reason to panic about weight... but I did have high blood pressure too, like, my last reading was 160 over 90, though it's dropped down to 130 over 80 lately... so, yeah, I've officially ditched all the bad habits—no more alcohol, no more greasy takeout, no more fried junk food... just all the healthy stuff now🤣...and now I'm just grinding through it, not craving coffee, not craving beer, just eating chicken, fish, and steamed veggies... and I'm drinking water like it's my job, even when I'm not even thirsty🤷...it's honestly a struggle... but I read somewhere that all this craziness probably stems from stress and just being worked up☕
ironsurfer10 said:Michelle Wood3 makes a great point about giving decaf a shot.
I actually deal with the exact same issues with regular coffee myself; it makes me feel incredibly manic, I start shaking, and I end up sweating way more than usual. My doctor explained that some people just have a heightened sensitivity to caffeine and strongly suggested I switch over to the decaf version. Honestly, the flavor is pretty much identical to me, and I feel so much better!

man, that is it exactly... we're talking about the exact same symptoms... except, if I'm being real, I think I had one extra symptom myself, which was just feeling totally checked out and uninterested in the entire world
stormymaker24 said:I found myself consuming far too much of it myself, right up until the moment I realized my body was staging a full-scale revolt against me. It manifested as this crushing lethargy, agonizing stomach pains, and all sorts of digestive chaos... it truly took a heavy toll on my system, leaving me utterly unable to eat, sleep, or function at any meaningful level.
Eventually, I made the decision to swap it out for tea. I am constantly sipping on herbal blends, green teas, or perhaps a classic black tea with milk or a berry infusion. I find them to be quite excellent; they provide that necessary caffeine kick and work wonders for me without ever triggering those physical setbacks.
Since you mentioned you aren't ready to give it up entirely, I fail to see any viable alternative other than switching to decaf, because it is patently obvious that your body simply cannot tolerate it.

Man, I totally hear you, but for me, coffee was everything—like, seriously, I was absolutely hooked, drinking it first thing in the morning, late at night... you name it, I drank it, and I used to sleep like a baby... but then, out of nowhere, everything just went south... I'd find myself staring blankly at a wall for hours, just completely zoned out... feeling depressed, this weird tightness in my chest, almost like when a girl gives you a sudden kick right in the gut (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit there) 🤣...and like I said before, I'm not exactly rushing to go see my doctor, because who knows what else they might dig up if I start poking around, right? 🤣
Michelle Wood3 said:So, do you ever go for the decaf?
I don't really taste much of a difference—honestly, maybe I just can't tell 😉

I wouldn't even dare, because you know how it goes—once you get burned, you're extra cautious about everything, right? I mean, I tried switching to that cheap instant coffee stuff from the supermarket, and it felt exactly the same... it's just that I'm stuck wondering, like, what is actually going on with me, why is my body acting up like this? It’s driving me crazy! But then again, I'm not exactly the type to go running to a doctor for every little thing, am I? You know me, I don't even think about stepping foot in a clinic unless things get seriously heavy, right?👍
Hey everyone... so here’s the deal... I used to have this whole routine down pat, you know? Just a big ol' mug of coffee in the morning before heading into the office, maybe a couple of cigarettes, and then I was good to go... oh, and a few snacks from the vending machine at work too, because hey, it makes smoking easier, right? 😁..but then things started getting weird. Every single morning, right after that first cup of joe, I’d get hit with this massive wave of anxiety, almost like a sudden bout of depression, my hands would start shaking, I’d be in a terrible mood, just totally drained—kind of like that feeling when your blood sugar crashes out of nowhere... and man, I had absolutely no clue what was causing it. I struggled through it for months, until one morning I decided to skip the coffee, and boom, it was gone... everything felt fine, no more shakes, no more bad vibes... until I’d grab a cup during my break at work and suddenly, it was back to square one... total chaos. So, I finally figured out that coffee specifically is what wrecks me, which is wild because I can drink anything else, like a Red Bull or whatever, without an issue... it's just coffee that absolutely destroys me. I actually quit drinking it about a year ago, but lately, the smell has been calling my name again. The other day at a gas station, while I was grabbing some smokes, I picked up one of those canned frappuccinos—you know, like a Starbucks thing—and what do you think happened? Yep, the same nightmare all over again... so, has anyone else here dealt with something like this? Because honestly, I really want to be able to enjoy a cup of coffee 😁, mostly because it tastes amazing and it’s just that perfect little companion for the whole day, isn't it?
