The story of Jane Austen (Becoming Jane) in Movies ·
James McAvoy starred in Atonement, though if you ask me, he was much more convincing in his other roles. Anne Hathaway is absolutely stunning, and while some critics claim Jane Austen wasn't much to look at, well, that was simply the director's vision.
It’s your classic period drama setup: two young people fall into a romance that society finds scandalous. They try to defy the odds, but ultimately, they don't end up together because one of them realizes there are responsibilities even greater than youthful passion—in this case, his family obligations.
All things considered, the film is quite well-executed. The cinematography is gorgeous, and the score is wonderful...
Her performance is nothing short of phenomenal...
I'd definitely recommend it...
Golden year Queen Elizabeth in Movies ·
I was absolutely floored by Cate Blanchett's performance; she was just as captivating as Helen Mirren. I’d give this film a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It does a masterful job of capturing the Queen's external frostiness while simultaneously hinting at that playful, almost childlike spirit hidden underneath.
While the battle sequences are well-executed, I found myself much more drawn to the quieter, more static moments in the story.
I highly recommend giving this a watch if you haven't already.
I’ve been dealing with this whole laundry list of issues lately, which I’m pretty sure is all stemming from stress. It’s this persistent pain in my chest and back—sometimes it’s a sharp, stabbing sensation along my side that shoots all the way up to my armpit, and occasionally it even climbs up toward my throat. I’ve gone through the ringer with medical tests; my heart is fine, and my blood work looks great, aside from my cholesterol being a bit high. Because of that, I’ve started following a specific diet.
Even though the doctors have convinced me that everything is physically fine, these symptoms just won't quit.
I actually went in for a massage to help with my back because my job keeps me glued to a desk for six or seven hours a day. For one brief moment, it actually worked—I was pain-free for an entire day. But now? It’s right back to square one.
It is incredibly frustrating...
I just can't seem to shake it.
If anyone out there has dealt with something similar, please reach out with some advice. I am absolutely convinced this is all just stress manifesting physically.
