God, when I read through all these posts🙂—does this seriously mean there's zero chance of pulling through severe depression without pills?

I mean, besides just popping meds, are you guys actually working on yourselves? Like, are you seeing a therapist or doing anything else at all?
Because if you ask me, medication helps deal with the side effects, but it doesn't exactly fix the root cause...

Chloe Hughes6 said:It is lovely that you are feeling cheerful, but won't this be short-lived? Just as Prozac stopped working for you, isn't it likely that the same will happen with Effexor? Once the neurotransmitters become saturated, won't you find yourself back at square one? Then comes a new medication, then you feel good again until the exact same thing happens... and so it goes on and on... while the brain just keeps burning out.

So, what’s even the point then? Is the goal to tackle everything in parallel—like therapy, talking things out, working on self-confidence, and learning how to actually express yourself... just so you can eventually kick the pills entirely?
My therapist actually told me that whenever that restlessness kicks in and I feel like I'm losing my mind, I should just take some Propranolol... though I rarely end up using it lately. Sometimes I'll just brew myself some St. John's Wort tea instead. I've also noticed that, fundamentally, you really have to cut out as much salt, sugar, caffeine, and alcohol as possible... this winter has been making my anxiety and jitters so much worse—I've been dealing with these constant tremors. Judging by how things are going, it seems like after a while, every single medication is going to lose its edge, leaving your system totally bogged down with toxins.

But don't go playing doctor with yourself. Just go see a private Psychiatric specialist.

any side effects I should know about?

Are you guys feeling any calmer since starting those pills? Like, do they actually work? And does anyone here just take them on their own without a script?

Honestly, I’m still such a wreck... some days are just brutal. It's the anxiety, the constant dread—mostly the fears, though. And the panic attacks? They hit me out of nowhere, whether I'm flying solo or hanging out with people... sometimes it feels impossible to handle. I try to just push it all away and refocus, you know? But I haven't started any meds yet. To everyone else I talk to, I seem totally fine—like I don't even need help. But inside? I’m constantly dreaming about just packing up and moving far away from everything and everyone... just a complete fresh start. Maybe then I'd finally feel okay. Right now, I'm going through a breakup, and it honestly feels as heavy as a divorce. My ex and I were so similar... and sometimes I can't tell if we just weren't a good match or if I'm just, you know, a little bit mentally unwell. I'm trying my best to stand on my own two feet. By the way, has anyone ever tried one of those family constellation workshops? I just signed up for one..
Medical clearance for working on a ship in Health ·
Hey there. I’ve got a bit of a dilemma regarding some medical stuff—specifically about an old injury. Back in 2009, I had surgery for an inguinal hernia, and the doctors were pretty clear about not overexerting myself... but here's the kicker: when you sign up for a cruise, you have to check a box saying you're capable of lifting and carrying around 45 to 50 pounds. Given that I only weigh about 115 pounds, that feels like a massive amount of weight to move around, right? Has anyone else dealt with this kind of thing before? Because, honestly, people tell me I should just keep quiet about it, but if things actually go sideways, who’s going to step up and help me when everyone else is just looking out for themselves?
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
Has anyone here actually dealt with Dr. Rožmanić before? I'm trying to figure out what a consultation usually runs me... also, does she handle removing moles from the scalp? If not, who’s the best person to see for that in San Francisco? Should I just head to the Mayo Clinic or try to find a private specialist?
