Has anyone else dealt with low leukocyte counts that eventually bounced back to normal? Back in July, my count was down to 2.9. Since then, I’ve had blood work done twice, and both times everything was perfectly fine. Is this normal?

That’s why I’m asking. Besides, they use all sorts of different materials for implants... and you can even end up with a sinus opening after an extraction. Just thinking out loud here—maybe you’ll find a lead that helps settle this whole mess.
Thanks so much. The tooth I actually had pulled was in my lower jaw.
I got veneers on my upper teeth because they were totally ruined and turned gray from smoking. Honestly, I have no clue if getting those veneers could have messed with my sinuses. I really don't know. But ever since I got them done, my teeth have been aching constantly—it feels like the nerves are inflamed or something. Could this be linked to my nervous system and these bizarre vibrations I’ve been feeling? 🤔

Jacob Lopez51 said:Look, Drew Reed2, what you're describing sounds like textbook chronic anxiety—a psychosomatic disorder if I ever saw one. You could always go see a psychiatrist just to end the misery, though honestly, things might actually get worse. Psych meds are a total minefield until you finally hit the right one.
I deal with those exact sensations in my feet too—visible twitching, pins and needles, buzzing. It’s exhausting because I've been dealing with this for 16 years now. Nothing has worked. Not SSRIs, not dopamine stuff, not even CBD. Diagnosis? Benign Fasciculation Syndrome, just so we're clear.
Primary diagnosis: psychosomatic disorder.
For instance, I never had to worry about HIV or Hepatitis C, despite having tattoos. My issues were strictly MS, Lyme disease, peripheral neuropathy, small fiber neuropathy.
Hypochondria is a hell of a thing; when it hits hard once, it completely wreaks havoc on your body and brain chemistry. I’ve spent three years basically playing doctor at different clinics. Now I'm scheduled for a follow-up brain MRI with contrast. I haven't done a thoracic MRI yet, so why not? Then there's immunology—maybe my RF factor will suddenly jump to 100, or I'll test positive for ANA... If I were working in immunology, I wouldn't have enough credit left to finish the job.
I feel ya.

steeltrucker3 said:Did you happen to get any work done on your upper teeth? Like implants or something?
Yeah, I had veneers done on my top teeth. You know, the whole process—shaving down the enamel then bonding the veneers over them. Why do you ask? I even had one tooth pulled.
But that was all more than a few months ago (definitely over six months, actually), so it wouldn't have any impact on my HIV test results. Besides, I don't have any symptoms at all. I think I just imagined things because of that black stuff coming out of my nose, which turned out to be nothing but makeup in the end. Was that what you were getting at, or is there something else going on here?
steeltrucker3 said:If that CMV IgM comes back positive, we're talking an active infection. That’s why you need to get those liver numbers checked—ALT, AST, GGT, the whole nine yards. Don't just sit there moping 🙂, take it easy, and stick to a strict liver-friendly diet.
Thanks for the input and the advice,
I suppose everything looks pretty standard if we're looking at the same thing, right? 😁

Honestly, I have no idea if I actually have mono right now or if this is just some lingering ghost from way back when.
Does anyone here know anything about this? I know I'm being a total pest, but it's the weekend, I have nobody else to ask, and I can't sleep for the sheer anxiety of it all. I'm losing my mind...!!! Is it possible this means I'm dealing with some kind of autoimmune disease 😲😲:

Thank you all for comforting me and talking to me. This is all incredibly heavy, and I really want to share a recent health situation of mine—something that triggered all these suspicions and this massive wave of stress. I'll write it out, but it's going to take me a bit longer to get it down; just know that this happens, because you won't find anything about it on the American internet, absolutely nothing. I'll need to carve out some time to write that part. Maybe even tonight. Anyway, in the end, it wasn't what they suspected, but the whole story is just INSANE. Best to everyone.

Confession
I want to share my experience with you all.
Maybe this isn't quite the right spot—I might have missed the specific thread—but we were already talking, so...
Please, read this. It’s a lesson in what a person can do to their own psyche. I hope it serves as a warning for some; let others learn from my mistakes.
The trouble began in January 2020.
It started as a minor sinus drainage. Just an occasional throbbing, nothing major. I hate swallowing mucus if I can help it, because when it drains down the back of your throat, you can sort of preemptively force it out through your mouth using negative pressure. So, I decided to do just that. I grabbed a tissue, and accidentally, I saw the contents. Oh my god.
YELLOW secretion mixed with GRAY and BLACK rubbery chunks!!!!!!!!
Total shock. I stared at it, completely lost. That gray stuff looked like wet cement. The black bits? Almost like charcoal. They had this weird, rubbery texture—bits and strips all tangled up in the standard sinus mucus.
I asked my partner. Nothing. I asked five or six close friends. They were stunned. No clue. They didn't even want to talk about it. (Mind you, I showed them a photo since I actually took one)
Now, look, I know I'm a hypochondriac. I tried not to be dramatic. I figured maybe I just inhaled some lint from the blanket while sleeping. I checked the blanket; I did see a few gray fibers, but the texture didn't match at all. I kept trying to convince myself there was no cause for alarm.
Then, over the next few days, the same discharge appeared at least five times a day. What now? It’s not like I’m inhaling pounds of dust.
So, I do the worst thing possible: I go to Google. I search "gray black mucus."
And the result is always the same: fungal sinus infection.🙏
I call my primary care doctor. I describe the symptoms, I tell her the color of the mucus, and she agrees—that's the classic sign of a fungal infection.
I get blood work done, a CBC, a CRP—everything comes back perfectly normal.
Then I get swabs for bacteria and yeast in my throat and nose and wait three to four days for the results.
THE HYPOCHONDRIAC PHASE
In the meantime, while waiting for those results, I am deep-diving into the disease I am *certain* I have, simply because that's the only thing the internet says is possible. Apparently, immunocompromised patients are the ones who usually get fungal sinus infections—like people with diabetes (sure, why not?), HIV, or AIDS!!!!! You can actually die from an acute fungal infection.
I start hyperventilating. I know my blood work is fine, but how can I have black mucus and a fungal infection if everything else looks okay? It makes no sense. I haven't been promiscuous, I don't have tattoos... I started having panic attacks. Then came the restless legs—what I started calling "buzzing" in my feet.
I Google "buzzing in feet"—it pops up as a symptom of HIV. (That buzzing, which I now call "vibrations," was likely something I developed from the sheer shock of it all.)
I am dying inside. I can't sleep. I start taking Xanax, then eventually Valium.
In my head, I have HIV, and that’s why I have this fungal infection. I’m waiting for the swab results, but I’m reading on Google that oral thrush is most common in people with HIV. It’s over. I’m finished. I find myself staring at my loved ones' tongues. People look at me like I'm crazy when I ask them to show me their tongues. In my mind, I'm comparing their tongues to mine, looking for extra coating that signifies fungus. Is it possible? In my head, it definitely is.
Finally, the results come back for the throat and nose swabs: bacteria is negative, and the yeast did not grow!!!!!!
But I'm still in shock. What is happening to me??? I call the doctor, and she sends me to an ENT—who *also* mentions fungus...!!! The obsession returns. I feel like I'm dying again. I show the ENT the photo of the mucus, and he doesn't even doubt it. He's certain it's fungus. He sends me for an MRI to see the actual structure of it, because he can't see it clearly during a standard examination via rhinoscopy.
I finally decided to get tested for HIV because I couldn't live like this anymore. Honestly, I wanted to crawl into a hole from the embarrassment at the clinic where they tested me. While I waited for the results to be emailed to me—since I was rushing from the MRI appointment straight to the testing center—the email arrived. I had convinced myself I had it, even though my blood work has been perfect from day one and I haven't engaged in any risky behavior that would expose me to the virus. The result was, of course, HIV NEGATIVE. But I'm still reeling. I still can't quite believe it.
So, I finally got my MRI results back. Three different doctors all said the exact same thing: everything looks perfectly normal. There’s nothing wrong.
And yet, I’m still sitting here blowing black and gray mucus out of my nose.
Honestly, the stress is wrecking me. I can’t even function anymore. I’m dealing with at least ten different symptoms—panic attacks, tremors, diarrhea, a low-grade fever... if I hadn't taken some Xanax, I don't know where I'd be right now. Then it hit me: wait, if nothing is physically wrong, why am I seeing this black stuff? Is it possible it's actually coming from my makeup???
It sounds ridiculous, right? I mentioned it to my partner, and he's convinced that's the culprit.
So, I decided to run a little experiment. I went out and bought blue makeup: mascara, eyeliner, the whole nine yards (which was a total waste of money, by the way, because I look like a damn parrot wearing it) and waited until the next day to see if anything would come out.
The result? Yellow discharge mixed with tiny bits of blue—exactly the same texture as the stuff I was getting when I used black makeup. I didn't know whether to laugh and be relieved or ask someone to slap me for being such an idiot and putting myself through this...
I have absolutely terrified my body with this whole ordeal. I haven't even recovered from the shock; I’m still shaking inside, feeling these weird sensations and vibrations in my legs. I truly hope nobody else ever has to go through this.
If you know a woman (or a man who wears makeup😛) who starts noticing strange discharge, please, let them know there's this bizarre possibility that makeup can travel from the tear duct straight into the sinuses.
From the very beginning, I was stuck in a dark headspace. My mind could only jump to the absolute worst-case scenarios, which is exactly why I felt forced to conduct this DIY test.
I’m worried this whole mess might have messed up my blood work. I'm currently waiting on tests for autoimmune diseases, and I'm just praying it's nothing serious. This time, I'm trying not to spiral.
Anyway, there it is. That's my story, my confession.
I want to share my experience with you all.

Jacob Lopez51 said:Advice: don't exhaust yourself trying to hunt down the cause; it’ll only make things worse. Some people have spent $10k at immunologists, dozens of EMGs, even whole-body MRIs. They won't find anything, yet so many people deal with this and everyone ends up anxious. Possible links: recovering from Mono or low Vitamin D...
I'll know soon enough if my B6 has ascended to heaven...
I honestly have no clue what is causing these vibrations. It is absolutely terrifying. My breath literally hitches every time I feel them. I’m a panicker by nature, sure, but when this hits? Good grief, I need something to take the edge off just to function.
I tried Normabagel and nothing worked. Now I'm on Bromazepam—just been a few days and it's a tiny dose, but I want to see if it actually helps. It seems to help a little, but not entirely.
My B12 blood work came back fine.
Magnesium, sodium, potassium levels in the blood are all okay.
I haven't checked B6 or any other B vitamins because I don't even know if they matter? And Vitamin D? Who knows if there's any connection at all. 😵
Right now, what's keeping me up at night is this ANA result.
Antinuclear Antibodies (ANA)
Result: 320
Unit: titer
Ref unit
< 80 negative
80 - 160 borderline
160 - 320 weakly positive
>320 positive

steeltrucker3 said:Which CMV came back positive? IgG or IgM? If it’s just IgG, you’re fine—it means you already had it and moved on. No big deal. As for Parovirus, I’m not entirely sure, that one is tricky...
It's entirely possible. Even if you just nick your finger while cooking, the shock can spike your temperature. And if there's any mild inflammation in the CNS? Well, then you're looking at an even sharper spike.
Keep pushing for those ANA tests. You need to see if there's an underlying autoimmune issue lurking behind the infectious disease stuff.
The IgM is positive.
I was reading up on the symptoms for Parovirus, and honestly, I don't have anything like that. Usually, you catch it once and you're immune for life, right? It's also called Fifth Disease—I think it's categorized with childhood illnesses, kind of like chickenpox.
I'm new to this forum and I haven't quite mastered the layout yet, so I'm having a bit of trouble replying directly to people.

I've gone through all your replies, and I even went down a rabbit hole watching videos on YouTube.
Brenda Parker5, these vibrations are driving me absolutely insane. Honestly? I'm starting to suspect it's my blood vessels or something else entirely rather than just muscles. That's the sensation I get when it happens.🙏
The feeling is maddening. It’s like my legs are constantly trembling, and that surface layer is vibrating just like a cell phone buzzing against your leg.

Welcome to the club. Is it even possible for people to actually do this to themselves?😵
I'm just relieved I'm not imagining things; seeing that it's clearly happening to you too confirms it's a real thing.

Sure, I am constantly stressed out, but looking at these latest lab results... I'm not so sure it's just anxiety anymore.👎 If only it were that simple, I could just move on with my life.
I'm incredibly worried. Thank you all for everything.

After looking at my labs, my doctor sent me off for six different tests. Since I have absolutely no idea how to decipher these things myself, I’ll just list them here. To be honest, I’m dreading the last few—nothing about this looks good to me:
CMV positive
Parvovirus B19 IgG result ———> >46.0
negative < 0.8
borderline 0.8 - 1.1
positive > 1.1
Parvovirus B19 IgM -0.5
negative < 0.7
borderline 0.7 - 1.2
positive > 1.2
Antinuclear antibodies ANA
Result 320
Unit - titer
Ref range
< 80 negative
80 - 160 borderline
160 - 320 weakly positive
> 320 positive
Note: speckled fluorescence pattern
Here is my attempt at making sense of this and what is actually keeping me up at night:
CMV (which I assume relates to mono) is present, but is it active right now? I don't think this specific test provides that info. Does this mean I caught it years ago, or am I dealing with an active infection? (Personally, I suspect I've already had it.)
The Parvovirus seems to be present but not active—at least, that's how it looks to a layman like me.
So, ANA—weakly positive.
What does that note even mean? Questions, questions everywhere.
I refuse to look up what Google says I have; the search results are absolutely soul-crushing.👎😲
Does anyone out there know anything about this??

My symptoms: metabolic issues—mostly loose stools, that feeling where you just can't fully empty your bowels, vibrations, tingling, and various strange sensations in my legs. For two months now, I've had constant sinus drainage. I've run a fever of 98.6°F twice. I am under massive, unrelenting stress with no way to escape the source. Occasional malaise too.
Thanks in advance. 🙏

In addition to those, I also had
C3 and C4 checked, which are fine, and my EBV came back negative.

vividpilot39 said:I’m no expert, but those don't look like major deviations to me. Mushy stools can just be a symptom of Irritable Bowel Syndrome—and you mentioned being stressed, which is the biggest trigger there is. Your temperature isn't significantly high either; if I'm reading you right, you might be in the second half of your menstrual cycle (from ovulation to the start of bleeding), where temps naturally run a bit higher, so keep that in mind.
Thanks so much for the reply! 😊 I’ll definitely be checking in with my primary care physician. What’s also got me spiraling is this weird "vibration" in my legs that started up about a month ago (who knows if it's stress or something else). It feels like some kind of current running through my feet and slightly up my legs. It is an absolutely terrifying sensation because it feels so unnatural. When it first happened, I actually thought my phone was vibrating somewhere underneath me! I can even feel it when I touch the surface of my skin. My family already thinks I'm losing my mind over this, but I am genuinely worried. Could this be linked to the stool issues, the fever, and my blood work? I already deal with Restless Leg Syndrome, which I've grown used to—the cramps, the tingling, all that—but this is something entirely new and different. Is it possible my syndrome is getting worse? 🙂Has anyone else dealt with anything similar? And does anyone know if it's possible to hit 98.6°F just from stress? It feels like my temperature spikes during a stress attack, and then two hours later, it just drops back down on its own. Thanks in advance!

Blood work results - any thoughts?

I’ve already been there. I’ve talked to professionals, and they’ve flagged me for anxiety, so for now, I’m just on Xanax to take the edge off. Am I stressed? Absolutely. Could all of this be a byproduct of that stress? Probably. But then I look at my bloodwork—showing low neutrophils—and suddenly everything gets blurry. Is it the stress? Is it the bloodwork? Is it both? Where does one thing end and the next begin? I don't even know where to start. This morning, I woke up shivering, feeling this weird internal chill that practically forced me toward the bathroom. Once I dealt with that, a hot bath finally made me feel human again. I truly have no idea what is going on with me.

Loose stools can be a classic symptom of Irritable Bowel Syndrome—you mentioned you're stressed, and stress is the primary trigger for that. Your temperature isn't significantly high either; if I recall correctly, it tends to rise during the second half of the menstrual cycle (from ovulation until your period starts), so keep that in mind.
Thanks so much for the reply! 😊 I am definitely going to check in with my primary care physician. What’s also been rattling my nerves is this bizarre "vibration" in my legs that started about a month ago (who knows if it's stress or something else entirely). It feels like some kind of current running through my feet and slightly up my legs. It is an absolutely unsettling sensation that honestly scares me because it feels so unnatural. When it first happened, I actually thought a cell phone was vibrating somewhere underneath me! I can even feel it when I touch the surface of my leg. My family already thinks I'm losing my mind over this, but I'm genuinely worried. Could this be linked to the digestion issues, the temperature, or my blood work? I already deal with Restless Leg Syndrome, which I've learned to live with, along with various cramps and tingling, but this is something completely new and different. Is it possible my syndrome is progressing? 🙂Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Also, is it possible to run a fever of 98.6 degrees just from stress? It seems to me like my temperature spikes during a stress attack and then spontaneously drops back down after two hours. Thanks in advance!

I need some help here, please.
I'm 27 years old. I had my CBC done on February 17th.
Result Unit Ref range
Leukocytes 5.0 x10^9/L 3.4-9.7
Neutrophil
granulocytes 51.7 rel% 44-72
Neutrophil
granulocytes 2.60 x10^9/L 2.06-6.49
CRP 0.6 mg/L <5.0
So, basically: everything looks fine (everything else was also within range).
I went back to a different clinic for blood work on March 4th—so, 15 days later:
Result Unit Ref range
Leukocytes 3.3L G/L 3.4-9.7
Neutrophil
granulocytes 1.5L G/L 2.0-7.5
Neutrophil
granulocytes
% 47 L % 50-75
As for symptoms? I've got a whole laundry list, but I have no clue what might be linked to these numbers.
I deal with frequent loose stools (I recently tested positive for Norovirus in my stool).
Could these lab results be related to that?
I'm feeling slightly lethargic and occasionally run a low fever of 98.6°F. In the last 15 days, I've caught that fever twice, and the whole time I've been under intense stress.
Please, help me out. What do you all think?
