Elevators for odd-numbered floors in Miscellaneous ·
placidjackal36 said:placidtiger18, what happens if you end up with a hand, a foot, or a head stuck outside? I feel like I've seen a video of that somewhere, can't quite place it.

Look, if you're moving upward, it shouldn't be an issue. That section of the floor near the window is hinged to the main floorboards, so if it jams, the whole section just lifts up. If you're heading down, though? Yeah, that could be a real disaster. But the guys over at the corporate office swear on their lives that nobody has ever actually gotten stuck.
As if having some UL certification makes it perfect. It’s all just marketing nonsense.

Linda Lopez80 said:I wonder how many lawsuits they deal with every year because of driving accidents...😕 ...do they issue any warnings or anything? Like "not for kids under a certain age" or whatever?

Look, they've got three perfectly functional elevators right there, but they kept this one around just as some kind of historical monument. You won't find any kids running around there—that place is basically run by the Patent Office.

The US Patent Office over in Munich. This isn't an official shot from them, but looks like the exact same model to me. Anyway, the elevator is UL certified.

I don't even need to imagine. I've tried it a few times already. Still got all my limbs attached.😁

placidjackal36 said:And look, those small elevators? They usually run on an odd-even floor system. The big ones typically hit every single floor. Honestly, there are some seriously brilliant elevator designs out there—double doors, double-deckers, you name it.
I mean, at the end of the day, it’s just transit, much like a subway train. It just happens to move vertically instead of down a track.

Check out this madness: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paternoster

It’s anything but easy to use. It taps into that deep, primal fear of just... dying.

Look, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If you're stuck in this rut, you have to go through a mental breakthrough. You have to break down that psychological wall inside yourself.
With that kind of weight on you, don't even think about hitting the pavement for a run. You’ll wreck your ankles, and honestly, you’re just asking for permanent spinal issues.
Your body is basically running on a surplus—you've gotten way too used to having an endless supply of food sitting in your gut and energy stored up in your system. In my book, the answer isn't necessarily eating less; it's training like your life depends on it.
And besides, who cares if anyone is watching you at the pool? Those preppy, hairless swimmers? They aren't worth your concern.
Just dive in and push yourself until you hit the limit. The real kicker with swimming is that you have to develop a massive tolerance for pain. It’s unlike anything else. When you really redline those muscles, that’s when your body finally starts burning through those fat stores.
Also, for heaven's sake, do not go out and feast after your swim just because you feel wiped out. You aren't actually low on fuel; you're just exhausted. Go take a nap instead.
Try doing hour-long sessions without stopping, ideally keeping a steady, constant pace...
Let me know how it goes...

Just thinking out loud here. It’s not a half-bad idea, I guess.

Because look: we wouldn't have needles scattered all over our public parks (it's honestly the worst when kids find one and start acting like they struck gold or something)🙂
And then you'd probably just have dealers hovering around these sites like flies, waiting for the cops to swoop in, bust them up, and—boom—problem solved for the whole country.

But on the flip side, I’m jumping back in for the 28th time to ask the million-dollar question: who the hell is actually paying for this????

Actually, maybe it isn't all that great. Not exactly much in the way of inspiration.

Honestly, I’d love to swap out that lame "registered user" label for something actually cool, something with a bit more edge to it.

BUT HOW DO I ACTUALLY DO IT???😢
