Nancy Ward37 said:I guess I’m the one who totally derailed this conversation, my bad. All I was trying to get at is that drugs aren't some taboo mystery—they're just a part of our everyday reality now. Our society is basically soaked in this stuff from the ground up, and we really need to root it out. We have to start educating people properly about how destructive it all is.
I caught this movie on TV recently—I think it was called Requiem for a Dream or something like that, I can't quite remember the exact title. It was absolutely brutal to watch. Honestly, I feel like they should show a movie like that to kids in middle school just so they realize what they're getting into and never even consider touching the stuff.

Requiem for a Dream. Man, that movie is heavy. 👍 They nailed the psychological profiles of those addicts; it's almost too real.
But hey... I'm a little lost on why you're saying drugs aren't a taboo but are also our daily reality. I don't see how those two things can't both be true at the same time. 😕
rustytiger19 said:someone was bringing up those drug awareness campaigns run by local nonprofits—I remember there used to be (and maybe still is) this grassroots group, kind of like a local Starbucks-style hangout vibe, where activists would hit up parties handing out flyers. They’d lay everything out plain and simple: what all the different substances actually do and, more importantly, how to step up and help if someone’s overdosing.
I honestly thought that was such a solid move. I'm not sure if they're still out there doing the work, but man, I really hope they are...

👍 yeah, I definitely remember that.
rapidheron said:Personally, drugs haven't exactly seeped into my way of life, and honestly, I don't see any profound wisdom slipping through my fingers because of it. I don't see any real benefits from this mystical "knowledge," and just as importantly, I have zero desire for my kids to pick up that kind of insight. As far as I'm concerned, the way the American public handles the whole drug/addict/drug scene is perfectly fine.

In other words, thanks to what I assume is some systematic media brainwashing, my brain immediately links "drugs" to things like crime, HIV, death, rehab, communes, wasted lives, and broken families. I don't know, maybe you experts with all your specialized knowledge know the situation is actually the exact opposite, but I'm just not buying it.

Look, if you ask me, feel free to cling to all those clichés, prejudices, and that small-town version of "normalcy" regarding this topic. I’d much rather—way, way rather—keep those away from kids than hand them a harm reduction manual.

God, that's scary. 😲
When I talked about "drugs being in the fabric of our lives," I meant that we all probably know at least one person who has messed around with drugs.
By not teaching kids about it, you aren't gaining anything. It's actually pretty bad. 👎
Girl, you are absolutely losing it! 😁
DO YOU ACTUALLY THINK I'M PRO-DRUG? I never said I agreed with everyone else, I just said I don't agree with *you*. Hello? And we aren't out here trashing the people fighting against it; we're just trashing you. If you can even call it that. Honestly, you’re just getting on my last nerve constantly insisting that I'm pro-drug!
Nancy Ward37 said:Look, you clearly don't get how faith has pulled countless people out of drug hell, and you're choosing to see something negative in that, while acting like drugs are just some cool little science experiment where you know all the chemical formulas by heart.

Honestly, I’d ask how old you are, but I won't bother...
I really don't see the point in arguing here because, frankly, you don't even know how to hold a conversation.
I've already dropped a few posts in this thread, and I genuinely have no clue where you're pulling these conclusions from. Like, are you hearing voices or something?
Just drop the argument if you're just gonna talk nonsense.
Nancy Ward37 said:I'm basically pushing drugs just like you are, so we can all get hooked while the people running the show rake in the cash.

😕 wow, I had absolutely no idea I was out here promoting drugs. thanks for letting me know.
I honestly can't wrap my head around why you're still dropping links when you've been so deep in the trenches with heroin before.

I mean, what can I even say?
"As part of the Identity project, we want to reflect on questions regarding our own identity and the identity of Jesus Christ—the most influential figure in history..."
And you seriously picked a website that's just *so* incredibly qualified to be discussing if drug taboo exists... 🙄
Look at this, they're even sending you an invite to ChristianFest '06.
Nancy Ward37 said:I mean, they aren't exactly hitting up Chase Bank just to score some shrooms or whatever.

haha. so, did you have a little too much history with heroin??! 😲 i wouldn't say that's really the case.
I’ve been scrolling through all this, and man, there is a whole lot to take in. 🙂
So, just to jump straight into the heart of this thread—here in the States, drugs are still such a massive taboo. It really comes down to people who just don't get it. Even though you see it creeping into every single corner of our lives more and more every day, it’s still not something folks feel comfortable discussing out in the open. Honestly, some people run away from the topic of drug use like they’re running from the devil himself. And because they’re so uninformed, they end up spouting total nonsense and acting like they know everything when they really don't 🙂 .
@Nancy Ward37—I’m gonna have to disagree with you there. Given everything everyone else has already laid out on this forum, I don't really feel like repeating myself or quoting old arguments.
