Guitar Hero controllers: anyone selling? in Computer Peripherals ·
What a joke... $100 buying a guitar that only works for one specific game. Honestly, you're better off just getting a real one and actually learning how to play...
How to fix audio sync issues in a video in Software ·
If you’re really looking for that old-school, homegrown vibe, I guess I’d suggest checking out DC++. You can pretty much find anything there if you have enough patience to dig through the folders, but yeah, it's all there somewhere.

Look, instead of just sitting there watching those clips on YouTube, maybe try grabbing them from a torrent or something similar? You probably wouldn't be running into these headaches if you did.
Besides, Flash video tends to struggle when it comes to encoding newer formats—I think most of that falls under H.264, though it really depends on how everyone's setting things up. I haven't run into much of an issue on Veoh yet, but usually, the audio and video end up getting out of sync.
Gaming Gear Recommendations in Computer Peripherals ·
Honestly, your keyboard can be whatever you want—though I honestly don’t get why anyone would drop a fortune on some overpriced gaming board.
Sure, you want something decent, but there's no reason to go overboard. Maybe a Logitech MX 518 is a solid middle ground if you're looking for value, but anything beyond that feels like overkill.
If you're going to spend money, though, definitely put it toward a good pair of headphones. In my opinion, you really can't beat a high-end pair of Sennheisers; they've got some of the best out there, even if they do cost a bit more.
Which Logitech keyboard should I get? in Computer Peripherals ·
To be honest, I don't see the point in dropping that kind of cash on a keyboard. Personally, I’ve always been fine with basic stuff—I used one of those old Chicony models for maybe eight or nine years before I accidentally spilled a drink all over it, and now I’ve just been using some cheap Logitech model for a year or two lately.

The thing is, wireless keyboards seem great for the first month or so, until you realize they basically do the exact same job as a wired one. You start thinking you don't actually need the wireless freedom, especially when the battery dies right in the middle of a workday, you don't have any spares lying around, the local Best Buy is closed, and you suddenly have something urgent to type up. 😁

Honestly, you might want to check the date on the thread before digging up stuff from who knows where...
Headphones + lavalier mic combo? in Computer Peripherals ·
Oof, that’s a serious chunk of change for headphones. I guess it really just comes down to whether you want an all-in-one headset or if you'd prefer separate headphones and a dedicated mic.
Generally speaking, if you're looking at headsets or standalone cans, I usually point people toward Sennheiser, though it really depends on how much you're willing to shell out—which, again, depends on what you actually plan to do with them (though for $233, I'm assuming you have a bit of an idea of what you're doing, and honestly, I wouldn't mind owning a pair of those 🙂 myself).

I don't know much about the mic side of things, but you can find decent standalone ones starting around 15-$$10 that offer relatively clear sound for the price. If you're just chatting with people online, they should be able to understand you just fine 🙂. If you go the headset route, they'll probably cover your basic communication needs without much fuss.

It’s still pretty hard to give a specific recommendation without knowing your actual use case, though. Like, there's no point in dropping that kind of cash if you aren't an audiophile or if you don't actually need that level of fidelity. It might be overkill.

edit:

Looking back at the title... are we talking about a headset? For phone calls? Or...
Anyway, take a look at these:
Best 2.1 speaker setups? in Computer Peripherals ·
I was actually hunting for 2.1 speakers recently myself. Based on my research—which involved way too many hours scouring the web and reading countless reviews (it’s honestly frustrating that we don't have any dedicated hi-fi listening rooms here in the States where you can actually test gear before buying...)—I figured Creative might actually have better options in the tier just below the $167 from Logitech, but once you get past the $167, Logitech really starts to outclass them.

Here’s the list of what I was looking at about three months ago (back when I hadn't quite decided how much cash I wanted to drop on this, so I was basically looking at everything):

Creative Inspire T3100 $78
Creative Inspire T3030 $101
Logitech X-230 $123
Creative iTrigue 3330 $161
Logitech Z4 $209
JBL SPYRO $296
Logitech Z2300 $367

Anyway, looking at the prices around here... I saw that I could snag the Z2300 brand new in the US for $85 during Christmas (on sale, obviously, but that felt like a legitimate discount; I think they usually go for up to $150, unlike those stores that drop a price by a measly 10-$$6.75 and then act like they're doing you a favor). From what I've noticed lately, prices seem a bit higher than they were over the holidays, probably because of the dollar fluctuations or something. You can check for yourself:

Personally, I ended up going with the Z4. I'm relatively happy with them, though I guess there are moments when I find myself wishing I'd grabbed the Z2300 instead...
