I always knew this would happen to me eventually... like having one of those dreams that just doesn't make sense, though I guess calling them illogical is a bit silly since I've had dreams even weirder than that where I didn't even realize things were off... basically, you get that sudden realization that you're actually dreaming, and you try to tell yourself, "Hey, wake up," but then it turns into this weird half-awake state... where I start internally screaming at myself to just wake up, all while feeling my body completely paralyzed, yet I’m desperately trying to shake myself loose with everything I've got until finally, both my mind and my body snap back to reality... 🤣 it's pretty freaky, but honestly kind of a trip too 😂

So, about 3 or 4 months ago, I was training pretty hard—gym, running... basically pushing myself to the limit every single day... and then one night, I ate like a horse and just went straight to bed, and the next morning I spent three hours literally stuck in the bathroom... straining (there's no other way to put it) like crazy, trying to go when there was nothing left to give... and ever since that day... it's been awful! Since I play soccer professionally, I can't catch my breath at all... I mean, I can breathe, but I can't fill my lungs... if that makes sense... and whatever I eat just turns into gas... I just don't get that feeling of a full deep breath, you know, like when you yawn, that sensation in your throat... I feel constantly bloated with air, whether I've eaten or I'm starving. My bowel movements are regular, but I'm constantly straining and it’s just not working right... nothing hurts, I don't have heartburn... I've had these tests done... an endoscopy—they said I just have high stomach acid, no H. pylori bacteria or anything... an ultrasound—showed a ton of gas in my digestive tract... and a CT scan of my chest and abdomen, basically my torso and gut—everything came back perfectly fine, glands, kidneys, liver, everything is healthy... / I can't train normally, and I make a decent living playing, so finding a fix or a solution quickly is incredibly important to me... PLEASE HELP ME ASAP!!!

I happened to stumble upon this thread by accident, and man, am I glad I did! I completely get where you're coming from with this whole situation... see, a few months back, I was having some issues with excessive gas (🙄) and I just chalked it up to eating more protein... but then, about two weeks ago, the exact same thing happened to me. It started with these barely noticeable aches and some trouble with my bowel movements... then it slowly turned into sharper pains that were pressing against my diaphragm and making it hard to take a breath... then I got this sensation like it had moved up into my chest cavity... and it would just hit out of nowhere (like after a meal, or sometimes on an empty stomach in the morning, it even woke me up once... the closest feeling I can describe is hunger, but like, twenty times more intense) and it would just linger... and then suddenly, it vanished... I remember one time it hurt so bad right before I went to the gym... I started rowing and after five minutes of rowing, it just stopped... 🤷 I usually watch what I eat and don't touch junk food, so I really don't know what triggered it... I actually ate less because, honestly, I was scared to eat, wondering how my body would react, and after a couple of days it cleared up, knock on wood... but even now... when I get hungry, it isn't that normal hunger anymore, it feels more like my stomach is being eaten away from the inside... 😲 that's the only lingering thing... I still deal with the extra gas, but that's better than what I went through before...

Anyway, that's just my experience... I told myself I'd head to the doctor in a day or two since things were getting worse, but well... it stopped... though, if it comes back, I'm definitely seeing a doctor, because if it turns out to be something like a hiatal hernia, I'd really want to know ☕
Hey everyone... I've been lurking around this thread for quite a while now and finally thought I'd just lay out what's actually bothering me, hoping to get some perspective because honestly, the more I read, the more confused I feel... 🤷

So, here's the deal: I have a deviated septum... I actually went to see an ENT specialist a few months back... though I’ve known about it forever since you can physically see my nose is shifted to one side. But I didn't really dwell on it... I just kind of adapted to it. Someone else mentioned thinking this is totally normal and happens to everyone, but for me, it's a constant thing where my nose runs during any activity, or I wake up with everything completely blocked... plus, I have a bit of a sunken chest, and combined with the nose issue, I can't seem to take a full breath, so I constantly get this sensation like I'm suffocating. I'm pretty active—hitting the gym and going for runs... and it's a real drag when I'm doing that because I can't breathe properly through my nose since there isn't enough airflow. I've heard all sorts of horror stories about the surgery, so my initial reaction was just "no thanks"... even though the crookedness bothers me a little aesthetically... but I'm not really the type to obsess over looks, so I figured I could live with it. However, a close friend brought it up because her deviation is even worse, and she's decided to go through with the procedure. Another buddy of mine had a great experience too... so after sitting with it for a bit, I've decided I should probably go for it before I regret not acting sooner... I'm still young enough 😂 and I have enough breathing room while I'm finishing up at college...

So, the plan is a septoplasty along with a dorsal hump correction, but nothing aggressive like shrinking the nose or anything like that.

I feel like I know the drill regarding the procedure and recovery... maybe two weeks total, and I realize it's different for everyone... some people have it easier, others harder. What's really weighing on me, though, is the rule about not wearing glasses... 😲 and again, I've heard so many conflicting things... whether it takes six months... or longer than that...

Can anyone who's actually gone through this share some details? Your own experiences... if it's truly worth it, or what else I should be bracing for... it would be especially helpful if you're someone who wears glasses 😉 because I used contacts for a while and they really messed up my eyes... caused some inflammation... and now I'm nervous about switching back during the recovery period... I'm stuck, because my prescription is pretty high...
