If you can pull the trigger on that right away, it would be ideal...
Thanks for the help. I was actually wondering what your take is on this power supplyuper-flower-fx-450w-80-plus-bronze-power-supply-sf-450p14he-p-n-nesf-041.aspx. The price difference is only about 7$2.75 dollars, and I've come across quite a few reviews online praising this specific unit. As for the graphics card, I think I'll stick with Gigabyte just because of the HDMI output—I already have the cables for it, and that one you recommended uses mini-HDMI, which is a hassle. Besides, I suspect Gigabyte might be slightly better built, and I don't plan on overclocking the card anyway. Regarding the CPU, I can currently run it stably at 3.00 GHz without any extra cooling. It's been holding steady for a few days now. And as for RAM, I'm already sitting on 4GB of DDR3...
Basically, my current setup is exactly what’s listed in my "profile" section here.
I have zero intention of building an entirely new rig—mostly because my budget is currently pretty tight—so I'm just looking to swap out my old GPU since it's starting to stutter, and pick up a new power supply. Eventually, maybe in a few months, I'll look into upgrading the motherboard and CPU. Right now, I was eyeing a Gigabyte gtx-750 TI. It's sitting at around $367. As for the PSU, I'm planning to overbuy a bit more than I actually need right now, just so I don't have to deal with the hassle of replacing it again when I move on to the next upgrade... which is why I mentioned that specific price point, as it's the absolute max I'd be willing to drop on a power supply.
I’ve been running a moda COM midi tower with a C-707 LCD featuring a dual-fan 400W power supply. It’s been a workhorse for about eight years now, but since I’m upgrading my graphics card, I finally need something with more headroom. I’m looking for something in the 450W to 600W range. The thing is, my case uses a top-mounted PSU configuration, which means most of the heat exhausted from the system passes directly through the power supply unit itself. My old setup used two fans to handle that airflow, and I never ran into any overheating issues. Looking at what’s on the market today, almost everything seems to be single-fan designs, which makes me a bit nervous about thermal buildup inside the unit... Is it even possible to find a high-quality dual-fan PSU these days? If not, which single-fan models would you recommend for better airflow? I’m not looking for cheap junk, but I don’t want to overspend on an overkill enthusiast unit either. Ideally, I'd like to stay under $217 max.
It looks like we might have actually cracked it. I haven't run into any issues for two full days now. After running the 3D Guru utility to install the latest drivers and flashing the BIOS, everything seems to be holding up perfectly fine for 5🎉

The issue lies with the drivers. Try rolling back to some older versions; let's start there...
I actually started with the drivers, as I mentioned in my opening post. I've cycled through at least 15 different driver versions by now. That means I haven't just stuck to Windows 10; I've tested drivers from both Windows 7 and Windows 8 as well. I even went as far as uninstalling GeForce Experience entirely to make sure its automatic updates weren't causing a conflict, then manually hunted down and installed everything myself. Still, nothing works...

However, once I downloaded a fresh ISO directly from Microsoft, wiped my hard drive, and performed a clean install of Windows 10, all those issues vanished. If you don't have any critical data hanging on by a thread, my advice is to just format the drive...
Actually, I did a fresh installation of Windows 7 just a couple of days before I attempted the upgrade, so there shouldn't be much unnecessary junk cluttering up the system. If I can't find a workaround for this in the next day or two, I suppose I'll have to go the route of a clean install. For now, though, I’m still holding out hope that someone might actually be able to help me resolve this issue...

It’s not that I have a mountain of issues; it’s just this specific one, while everything else runs smoothly. I was actually using Windows 7 until about a month ago, but Windows 10 feels much more advanced and I prefer the interface. I'd much rather find a fix for this headache than deal with the idea of rolling back to Windows 7...
I’ve run into a bit of a headache with my Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT ever since I upgraded to Windows 10. Every so often, Windows just decides to kill the graphics card, throwing up that dreaded Code 43 error. I’ve tried cycling through various drivers, doing full uninstalls and clean reinstalls, even toggling the device from disabled to enabled in Device Manager... but it’s all temporary. The little yellow warning triangle pops up, stays for maybe two days at most, and then the whole cycle repeats itself. To make matters worse, since moving to Windows 10, the restart function on my PC has completely broken. Whether I trigger the restart manually or the system tries to do it automatically after an app installation, the screen just displays "restarting" and then goes black. The tower stays powered on, but nothing happens—it just sits there, unresponsive. I’ve considered flashing the BIOS, but honestly, I'm hesitant to pull the trigger on that given how unstable the system is acting during restarts. This is becoming incredibly frustrating... any advice would be appreciated.
My experience is a bit different from what’s been described here. It doesn't happen to me all that often—maybe three or four times in total. I don't really buy the whole "sleep paralysis" label because I am fully awake and my eyes are wide open. It usually happens when I sleep on my back. The best way to describe it is that I wake up feeling like I can't breathe. I open my eyes and see nothing but the darkness of my room; I don't have any of those hallucinations most people on this forum talk about. Instead, I feel this terrifying pressure on my chest, as if something incredibly heavy is crushing me, or like someone has grabbed me by the throat with everything they've got and is choking me. I try to fight back, but my body is completely paralyzed, with the sole exception of my eyes. I've tried screaming and calling out for help, but no sound comes out at all. I have to say, it's a truly horrific sensation. On two separate occasions, I genuinely thought I was finished—that this invisible force was going to suffocate me and I was actually going to die. The whole episode seems to last about a minute, and it ends when that massive pressure on my chest and the constriction around my neck suddenly lets go. Once it stops, I start gasping for air, breathing deeply and frantically into my lungs, because it honestly feels like I almost suffocated. As I catch my breath, the paralysis fades away. Like I mentioned, my eyes stay open the entire time, and I never see anything unusual in my bedroom, yet there is this overwhelming sense that some invisible, massive weight has sat on my chest and is strangling my neck. Does anyone else deal with this or something similar? I did some reading and thought this might be akin to sleep apnea, but I'm not entirely sure what we're dealing with here. Unlike most of you who report hearing buzzing or ringing, I don't hear anything during these episodes except for the sound of my own heart thumping violently...
