Maria Diaz79 said:jadecrane3, if I remember right, you weren't exactly thrilled with how your nose looked after the surgery... how's everything looking now?
Things are actually looking pretty good now🙂 the tip has dropped a bit (though they say it’s supposed to drop even more), it’s not nearly as swollen anymore, and I can finally laugh normally without feeling weird, so I'm happy with it for now🙂 the tip is still a little puffy, but it's nothing crazy. Honestly, I'm totally fine with it staying just like this, though it does lean a tiny bit to the left... but hey, maybe that's just me noticing it...
Maria Diaz79 said:hey girls, did you keep using cold compresses on the second day too? I’m finally getting my stitches out tomorrow (thank god) but I feel like everything inside still feels super raw... does it bleed from the nose once they pull the tampons out?
Maybe just a tiny little drop might come out right when they pull those things out, but the doctor usually cleans it up immediately, so you probably won't even notice... after that? Nah. At least not for me. Everything went totally normal....
Laura Castillo7 said:Can you go to the hospital just for cosmetic stuff, or do they only do it if you're also getting a septoplasty?
Look, you can totally go to the hospital for purely cosmetic work, but don't think you're getting a deal. You'll be paying just as much as you would at a private clinic...
Kimberly Robinson55 said:Wait, have you noticed your nose tip dropping at all?
Yeah, it dropped, though I think there’s still more to go... but you can definitely see the difference, I don't look like a pig anymore😁 and apparently, surgeons are always terrified of the tip drooping too much, so they basically overcompensate by aiming it way too high... anyway, did yours drop??
So, I went in for my follow-up today... it’s been about a month since the surgery passed... they told me my nose is still pretty swollen and you can definitely see how it’s slightly pulling at my upper lip, but apparently, that’ll all settle down eventually... and yeah, my nose is veering off to the left, but they said that's totally normal too. Like, they told me I could literally wake up tomorrow and find out it's suddenly veering to the right instead. 😁
Maria Diaz79 said:For those of you who had surgery—were any of you actually there while it was happening, or did you just call someone once everything was wrapped up and they showed up to pick you up?
Nobody was there during the actual procedure... my dad just dropped me off and left. When I finally came to, I texted my husband, and he was already waiting outside, but his sister wouldn't let him in... and they didn't let me go home right away either, so he ended up stuck waiting out there for two hours...
Laura Castillo7 said:did he ever do that lip cut thing? does it actually hurt? i bailed on him because i just can't deal with that, but he told me everyone gets it done. from what i can tell, he's basically the only one who even goes for it
what kind of lip cut?? why would anyone even do that??
Kimberly Robinson55 said:It's been a month and some change since my surgery, and the tip of my nose is still pretty swollen. The right side has gone down, but the left side is just hanging out there. In person, it looks okay, but man, in photos from the front? It’s a disaster. It looks like my nose is literally sliding off my face. Anyone else dealing with this? Would it be a smart move to just throw a little cold compress on the tip while I'm chilling at home to try and "speed up" the swelling going down???
I'm at 4 weeks minus 2 days post-op, and honestly, the tip is still super swollen and everything looks just... weird. Like, totally disproportionate. But hey, it's already way better than when I first started... and what you said about the photos—yeah, in person it's fine, but in pictures it looks seriously funky😁 and like it's veering to the left, plus it's all bumpy😁
Yeah, I'm wondering about that cold compress thing too, but I haven't tried anything yet... maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to go for a little walk now while it's actually chilly outside...
Only one stitch popped out on me, and I basically ended up digging it out myself...
Emily Campbell36 said:What’s Dr. Kincl actually like?
Look, I had my surgery done by Dr. Kincl and honestly? He’s fine.🙂 I mean, he can be a bit of an asshole, let's be real, but if you can just deal with his personality, you'll be totally okay... if you're the type who needs a lot of hand-holding or gets offended easily, you might not vibe with him... that's just his whole vibe and how he treats patients... but as a surgeon? The guy is top-tier. Super professional and definitely knows his stuff.🙂 He did a ton of work on me—removed a hump, shaved the tip, lifted it a bit, and fixed my septum too. And get this, I have zero willpower when it comes to junk food, but I barely even had any swelling (everyone was freaking out about that). Plus, the pain wasn't even that bad... which also shocked everyone, especially my mom, who had a deviated septum repair and was basically dying from the pain. Also, he lifted my nose just a tiny bit more than we originally planned, but it's only because he warned me the tip would drop... at first, I thought he was just making excuses, but now I see the tip really does sink, and a friend of mine actually confirmed it (she's actually miserable with her results because she *didn't* go to Kincl).... so yeah, Kincl...👍
Honestly, I was pretty bummed out at first because things looked... well, weird. Like, way too wide and sitting way too high—kind of giving off major Miss Piggy vibes, if you know what I mean? But hey, it’s been three weeks since the surgery and things are finally starting to settle down. It’s looking okay now, and honestly, it should keep getting better🙂
And yeah, dealing with kids is such a hassle right now. You seriously have to watch every single move just to make sure nobody accidentally lands a punch or a stray elbow on you...
Man, you're totally right. I mean, honestly, if you’re happy with how things turned out, then who cares about the cash? It's not like anyone's actually losing money if the result is solid... what's the point of trying to scrape together a few extra bucks if the job ends up being a total disaster? $0.00I ended up dropping 12
Kimberly Robinson55 said:So, how did everyone's stitches turn out? I was poking around a little with a Q-tip and found some black stuff... honestly, I can't tell if it's just thread or maybe a tiny hair or something🤣 The tip of my nose is still super swollen, too. Like, the part above my lip looks totally flat, but I still can't really smile properly. And no matter how much I try to move my upper lip, the tip won't budge at all—it just feels tight, you know? Does anyone else feel that tightness at the tip? Is yours pulled upwards too? Once the stitches come out, does the tip finally drop down and relax a bit?
Man, mine is still swollen too. I still can't laugh normally (though it’s slightly better than it was a week ago, I guess)... but what you're saying about the tip—mine doesn't move either, everything feels super tight and it's definitely pointed up (total Miss Piggy vibes here)....... And hey, you might be onto something there... about those threads... I actually fished my own stitch right out of the left nostril... and now my nostrils look uneven. The left one is kind of loose, but the right one is still being pulled upward and looks narrow... plus, my whole nose seems to be tilting to the left now.🤣
Hey, Jelena Vuco and Kimberly Robinson55, how’s it going? What’s the deal with your noses—are you seeing any changes yet?? I noticed mine looks a little narrower near the bridge, but the tip feels the same... at least I think it is... if it actually shrank, it's barely even noticeable... but here's what I just realized—my whole nose is tilting to the left. Like, the entire thing! When you look at it from underneath (or when I tilt my head back), you can totally see it's not centered; it's leaning to one side, kind of like the Leaning Tower of Pisa—it's awful. I’m really praying it’s just because of the swelling... because then the nostrils look different too... and the tip is asymmetrical... when I touch the left side, it feels pointy, but the right side feels rounded... ugh, it's so hard to explain, you’d honestly have to see it🙂 oh, and I already pulled my first stitch out myself... I just picked at it
ugh, okay, one more question (I know, I know, I'm being such a pest already), but what's the deal with sex?? like, I was scrolling through some random American health blog and it said you should avoid anything that spikes your blood pressure for like 3 to 4 weeks... and they actually listed sex on that list. so... does that mean I'm still on the "no-go" list for intimacy??!😕
Yeah, and one more thing: I keep seeing all over the internet that you aren’t supposed to blow your nose for a while... but my surgeon never actually mentioned anything about that... so I’ve just been blowing my nose, though I don't squeeze it too hard... like, I just hold a tissue up to my nostrils and let it go... is that still a bad idea?? seriously, if I can't do that, how am I even supposed to deal with all this junk building up in my nose?!🤷
Sophia Hill22 said:Just hang in there, man. It’s only been 11 days, things will get better... what did the doctor actually tell you?
ugh, I know... I mean, I knew there’d be some swelling, but I honestly thought even my worst swelling couldn't look this bad—and my dad had a nose like a wrecking ball, so that's saying something. But 😢the doctor didn't really say much to me. My sister was the one helping me get the splint off, and she told me not to stress about the tip looking lifted, said it would settle down eventually. But with all those bandages on, I didn't realize just how swollen everything actually was... not until yesterday when I finally peeled the bandages off myself. I’ve got a follow-up at the clinic in two weeks, so I guess I'll just wait and see what happens by then...
Ugh, I seriously can't deal with this right now. I look in the mirror and I just hate my nose—it’s actually disgusting. Like, what was I even thinking? I look like some weird creature straight out of a Grinch movie or something. It's pathetic. I try to tell myself it’ll be fine once all this swelling finally goes down, you know? Just trying to stay positive. But then I start spiraling... like, give me a break. What's the worst that could happen? Is it actually possible that if it doesn't improve, it'll end up looking like something else entirely? And how does the tip even drop? Like, does it just decide to sink on its own? When does that even happen?! Seriously.
Kimberly Robinson55 said:DON'T WORRY, when I finally got those bandages off, I was a total mess and cried for two days straight—my eyes were so swollen you wouldn't even recognize me😛 and my friend told me the swelling would go down eventually, and it is... just slow, you know? Like, super slow...
I gotta say, you actually kind of cheered me up just now, so thanks for that... seriously, because I was basically one step away from a total breakdown until I stumbled onto your post... but man, am I happy with how things look right now? I mean, sure, the profile is fine, but the rest? NOPE!!! It looks weird, totally flat, just way too wide... I'm just sitting here waiting for everything to deflate and for that peak to finally drop—ugh, like, when is that ever gonna happen?!☕
