My father is currently battling small cell lung cancer. He’s already gone through chemotherapy, and he just wrapped up radiation targeting his rib area—but the coughing has actually gotten worse. It’s relentless. Given that they were radiating him right at the base of his neck, I suspect the cancer might have spread into the bronchi. Does anyone have any advice on how to help manage this cough, or perhaps anything else we should be doing during this stage of the illness? He’s scheduled for a CT scan in about twenty days so his oncologist can determine the next steps, but honestly, the doctors seem pretty pessimistic—as if there isn't much left to be done!

Thanks so much, and best regards!!!
Microcellular carcinoma? in Health ·
Greetings to everyone here.
I have a rather difficult question to pose—my colleague’s father (a 75-year-old gentleman from San Francisco) has been diagnosed with small cell lung carcinoma. To be blunt, the doctors aren't offering much hope regarding his prognosis, though they have prescribed chemotherapy. Interestingly, they mentioned there aren't any metastases present at this stage.
I was wondering if anyone here has dealt with a similar situation within their own family? Furthermore, does anyone have advice on how one might provide even a modicum of support during such a grim time?
Thank you!
