I was watching the news earlier and seeing how much effort goes into just making a field playable after a bad storm. It really makes you realize how much of a "behind the scenes" army there is just to make sure the fans get what they paid for. We sit there in the stands complaining about a delay or a soggy seat, but there are people out there literally fighting against the elements just to get the game started on time.
It’s kind of wild how much the weather has been messing with schedules lately. I remember a few years back, we had a series delayed for hours because of a localized downpour, and the tension in the stadium was palpable. You could see the staff working like crazy, and it felt like the whole atmosphere of the game shifted from excitement to this weird, anxious waiting game. It makes you wonder how much of the "magic" of a big matchup actually depends on a few people with squeegees and a lot of grit.
Do you think we give enough credit to the grounds crews and stadium staff when things actually go right, or do we only notice them when everything goes wrong?
