Looking for a specialist... in Health ·

Here’s the link from a medical directory on some health portal. It’s got all the details for that top-tier clinic over in Sesvete; they actually have dermatologists on staff. You just need to give them a call and double-check if they'll take a referral from Medicare.
Betty Myers7 said:So, here’s the situation. Someone close to me—a guy, about 15 years old—has been dealing with daily stomach pains lately. There isn't much of a history of serious illness in the family, and he’s usually pretty resilient, but now he's losing his appetite entirely. He barely needs to eat, and the weight loss has been rapid; he’s dropped 12 pounds in just the last month or so...
I honestly have no clue what could be causing this, so I figured I'd ask if anyone here might know something...
I should mention, his father also went through a phase of sudden weight loss once, so maybe it isn't some major disease but just genetics at play. Still, if anyone suspects anything specific, any insight would definitely help...

Please?

Here are two links that might be worth a look if you want to read up on digestive system issues and stomach ailments.
From my own experience, it’s entirely possible there's a bacterial infection in the stomach (Helicobacter pylori), which can be confirmed via a biopsy during an endoscopy.
That particular bacterium causes symptoms very similar to what you described. Honestly, the best move is to get him to a doctor for some testing. I truly hope it turns out to be nothing significant and just some passing phase, especially since he's still so young.
If it is bacteria, it's treated with antibiotics, so there's no need to panic even if they find something.

I found this article about preventing stretch marks during pregnancy, though honestly, the same logic applies if you're just putting on weight for other reasons.
Most of the time, you can prevent them from showing up in the first place, but once they've settled in... well, good luck. There are a handful of dermatological treatments out there that might fade them a bit, but let's be real—nothing is going to make them vanish entirely.
Paying out of pocket for a gastroscopy? in Health ·

Thanks in advance..🙏

Honestly, there’s really no need for anesthesia. I was over at Mercury Hospital about a month ago for my own gastroscopy, and if you have supplemental insurance, it doesn't cost you a dime. The staff there were actually quite pleasant—very kind, everything was spotless and orderly. The whole procedure takes maybe two or three minutes. It doesn't hurt, though you might feel a momentary wave of nausea—which is a bit of a joke since you haven't eaten for at least 12 hours anyway—but it passes in seconds. They just spray a local anesthetic on your throat so you don't feel a thing. All in all, you're in and out in five minutes, heading home without any drama, like it never even happened.
