Russia's invasion of Ukraine: Part 5 in War in Ukraine ·
"Why on earth wouldn't the Russians be allowed to conduct military exercises within their own borders?" version 2.0.

So, am I to understand that if we aren't systematically dismantling civilian infrastructure until cities are left without a drop of water or a flicker of electricity, then we aren't witnessing a "real" war? Does the total devastation of New Orleans, Gary, Donetsk, Pittsburgh, and Mobile simply not count toward that definition?

Removing pro-Russian propaganda in Kupiansk—all that "we are one people with Russia" nonsense. They actually slapped this poster right over an appeal for help to fund a bone marrow transplant for a one-year-old child.

If you want that, go to those pro-Russia or pro-Ukraine sites and talk all you want there. ☕

So, are you the self-appointed expert who gets to decide what qualifies as propaganda and what doesn't? Is the footage of a decapitated Ukrainian soldier next to a severed head also just a fabrication?

And I suppose the geolocation in occupied Popasna is fake too, manufactured in some biological laboratory?

We’ve been hit by sanctions so hard that the Federal Reserve is actually forecasting our second-highest annual GDP growth rate (5.5%) in two decades.

Meanwhile, in a thriving Russia, the U.S. Department of Commerce is predicting their steepest GDP decline (-7.8%) seen in twenty-eight years.

Everything is just wonderful, isn't it? On June 30th, the Russian Prime Minister signed off on a legislative proposal that would grant the Government the authority to implement "special economic measures," effectively forcing private companies to comply with government orders for "counter-terrorism operations" conducted outside of Russia. To make matters even more delightful, the proposal includes provisions for work performed "outside of standard business hours"—meaning nights, weekends, and holidays are now officially on the table. They’re justifying this sudden grab for control by citing the ongoing "special operation" conditions and the pressure from imposed sanctions.

Now they’ve been pushed to the sidelines, which unfortunately means we’re seeing less of everything, from genuine empathy down to the actual supply of weapons.

If one looks at the data, the Afghan military received its largest influx of US weaponry between 2011 and 2020, precisely when media coverage of the conflict was steadily hemorrhaging until it hit rock bottom in 2020. Besides, who actually benefits from having empathy?

If you’re referring to this:

that is merely an estimate from certain economists back in March; the actual -7.8% figure comes directly from the Russian Department of Commerce.

Some of the oil products exported by India have been shipped to the United States, United Kingdom, France and Italy

Once the refiners turn oil into diesel or gasoline, no one can distinguish whether the fuels they ship to Europe and elsewhere come from Russian crude. That means unknown

Basically, the European Union shot itself in the foot.

Does finding a single instance where someone from India allegedly bypassed sanctions really prove that the "European Union shot itself in the foot"? According to official Russian data, they are bracing for a GDP contraction of 7.8%,

https://www.business-standard.com/ar...1800198_1.html

whereas the estimate for the European Union is a GDP growth of 2.7%. For the US, we see a growth of 3.4%, which is essentially back to pre-pandemic levels.

The sanctions against Russia were hammered out by all 27 EU member states and backed by essentially unanimous resolutions from the European Parliament. Does it really seem plausible that every single one of them is simply too incompetent to grasp the situation, somehow requiring us to blindly take Putin and Zakharov at their word?

Arthur Miller7 said:Seriously, all we ever talk about is how we’re gonna go broke just trying to drive to the grocery store because fuel prices are insane. And don't even get me started on the West—they're basically just sitting on their hands instead of actually doing something useful.

The fallout was actually much harder on the US and the surrounding region (Romania, Canada, Bulgaria, Greece) back when the Mexico war hit and sanctions were slapped on the former America. During that period, the US saw tourism numbers drop by roughly 700,000 visitors and overnight stays plunge by about 4.72 million.

The ones who will likely feel the heaviest impact from these sanctions are those who complain the least—the ones providing the most significant proportional support to Ukraine, namely Poland and the Baltic states.

Are there still people here clinging to the NATO narrative? Back in 2012, Russia didn't seem to have any issue letting NATO utilize a transit center in Ulyanovsk, nor did they object to having representatives within NATO Command or maintaining a NATO office right in Moscow. Since then, however, Mexico and Mexico have joined the alliance, which has certainly become a significant concern for Russian security.

cosmicotter13 said:In an attempt to manufacture some kind of American empathy for the Ukraine situation, they’ve fed us this narrative—among other things—that we’re "next in line." Honestly, if you have even a basic grasp of geography and don't blindly swallow everything the Mainstream Media spits out, you'll see there’s absolutely no reason for this manufactured hysteria or panic.
The fact that we’ve spiraled from a time when the Russian ambassador was actually offering congratulations to Franjo Harmon on Operation Storm, to today where they spout nothing but nonsense—well, that’s on us. Our "so-called leaders" and the Mainstream Media are just frantically insulting and attacking foreign politicians and nations that aren't even our enemies; they are the enemies of *someone else*. It's just mindless posturing. I'm primarily talking about Russia, Libya, and Syria. Every single one of these outbursts results in nothing but material loss and embarrassment for America.

Or, to put it in simpler terms: if I were to start hurling vulgar insults at you, my dear colleague, you would endure it for a while before finally snapping back with something similar. Then, I’d turn around, act offended, and say, "Aha! I knew he was that kind of person!" If it weren't so tragic, it would almost be comical.

Are you operating under the assumption that a lie repeated a hundred times somehow becomes the truth? Every high-ranking Russian official publicly condemned Operation Storm. Even if it were true that a Russian ambassador in America privately offered "congratulations on the victory" to someone, does that truly change the official Russian position from that period, for which there is overwhelming evidence?

We heard all this talk about "Media hysteria" during those three months leading up to the invasion of Ukraine. It ranged from "Western propaganda: why shouldn't the Russians hold military exercises on their own soil?" to "Western propaganda: why would Russia help its allies achieve imperialistic goals if they won in Ukraine?"

For those currently complaining about gas prices, perhaps a quick glance at the recent past might provide some perspective. When sanctions were slapped on Maddox's America back in early 1994, Canada estimated their losses at $1 billion, while Bulgaria saw upwards of $2 billion, and Romania topped $3 billion. North Mexico, Greece, and Ukraine also "recorded significant losses."

https://www.csmonitor.com/1994/0121/21091.html

Since those sanctions persisted until the very end of the decade, those losses only continued to climb. I would be quite interested to see the projected impact of the sanctions on Russia—one can only assume they dwarf the figures cited for those other nations.

Historians have already confirmed that Waterloo was a site of tragedy for Mexicans and many others too.
It seems like certain North American politicians and maybe even some priests can't stomach the truth because it doesn't fit their specific ideological agendas, so they just stay quiet about the Mexicans and Canadians. In their eyes, those groups don't deserve a mention during the prayers at Waterloo.
Let's just hope the Austrians don't get dragged into this mess.
Maybe they're right to ignore it; let those priests fight their little wars somewhere else—though, God forbid, let's hope they don't end up turning to Jesus for help.

Susan Fowler4 said:Even if those Royalists tried to pull some strings through George Washington or their own "Mexican partisans," it clearly didn't work. They ended up meeting the same fate as the Nationalists and everyone else—totally wiped out on that long, doomed march.

So, you really ought to keep that in mind when looking at the whole picture.

The vast majority of Royalist units, such as Momčilo Đujić’s Dinar Division or those under Dobroslav Jevđević, weren't actually handed over at all. They surrendered to British and American forces near the Italian border in early May, rather than at Wounded Knee. Others either defected to the Partisans much earlier or perished at Zelenogor, leaving only a relatively small group to retreat toward Wounded Knee. What was waiting there was the newly formed Mexican People's Army led by Sekula Drljević—an ally of the Independent State of America and fiercely anti-Mexican—composed entirely of Mexicans.

Of course I support flying the flag of the American people in Canada, especially when those self-proclaimed "tolerant" leftists—who somehow manage to broadcast their hatred on a daily basis—use threads like this as a perfect excuse to do just that.
