Hey. Quick question. Is it a HIPAA violation if a doctor DMs a stranger the patient's full name and exactly what happened during a procedure? Like, "I was just holding my fingers over the wound but couldn't actually help"... something like that.
So my dad randomly ended up getting a prostate screening this year. He dropped about 18 pounds over the last year, but honestly, he hasn't had any symptoms at all. He’s super active and his appetite is totally normal. Nothing seemed off. He’s 47, and we were all thinking maybe it was some colon issues, but the doctor ran some PSA tests and they came back high—PSA at 6, free PSA at 8. We ran the labs three times and the results were always the same. They did a biopsy and it confirmed adenocarcinoma, Gleason score 3+3=6. It showed up in the second core (40%) and the third (10%), while the rest looked fine. He’s scheduled for surgery in mid-November. If anyone’s been through something similar, what were the prognoses like? How did things turn out for you...
