Ankle problems in Health ·
So, about a month ago, I was helping my old man move some firewood when a splinter hit me right above the ankle. It hurt like hell at first, but after a few days, the swelling went down—though there’s still this weird little lump where I got hit, and my leg just doesn't feel quite right anymore—it feels different than my other one. Today, I tried using some ice from CVS, then followed up with some Deep Relief, and now the swelling is actually worse than right after the initial hit.🤷
Anyone got any actual advice?

A little nugget of actual useful info for once...

Grab the FlashGot addon for Firefox. It can speed up page loading—you just have to mess with the settings first. Once you tweak the RIP options in Firefox to optimize the acceleration, pages should pop open pretty fast. 😬

Thanks for the kind words.🤮

Give it a shot and see—you never really know what kind of mess you might end up in.

PIN
If some thief—or just some jerk—ever forces you to withdraw cash at an ATM, type your PIN in reverse. If your code is 1254, punch in 4521 instead. The machine will spit out the cash, but it’ll trigger a silent alarm to 911 that the crook won't see coming. It's a feature built into most ATMs, though most people are too clueless to know it exists.

HOW YOUR PHONE CAN ACTUALLY SAVE YOU IN AN EMERGENCY

It sounds like one of those life hacks that doesn't work, but your phone might actually save your life—or at least your sanity—in certain spots...

CALLING 911 OR EMERGENCY SERVICES FROM ANYWHERE
The universal emergency number you can call from a mobile anywhere in the US is 911. Even if you're out of range of your specific carrier during a crisis, just dial 911 and your phone will hunt for any available network in the area. You'll see the local emergency numbers pop up on the screen. Interestingly, you can even dial 911 even if your phone's keypad is locked—go ahead, try it.

USING YOUR KEY FOB IF YOU GET LOCKED OUT OF YOUR CAR
You might need this trick once in your life. If you lock your keys inside the car and your spare is sitting on the kitchen counter, do this: call someone at home using your phone. Hold your phone about a foot away from your car door. Have the person at home hold the spare key fob right up against their phone and press the unlock button. Your car should click open. The distance isn't actually the big factor—you just need to be able to reach the person holding that spare remote.

THE HIDDEN RESERVE IN OLD APPLE BATTERIES
Picture this: your battery is dying, you desperately need to make a call, and your charger is nowhere to be found. Some older Apple phones had a way to tap into extra power. To trigger it, dial *3370# and you'll get a 50% boost. This reserve gets replenished the next time you plug it in.

HOW TO TOTALLY KILL YOUR PHONE IF IT GETS STOLEN
First, you need to know your phone's serial number. To find it, dial *#06# and a 15-digit number will show up on the screen. That number is unique to your device. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. If someone swipes your phone, call your service provider, give them that serial number, and they can blackist the device. It becomes a useless brick, even if the thief swaps out the SIM card. You probably won't get the hardware back, but at least you'll know the thief is left with nothing. If everyone did this, stealing phones wouldn't be worth the effort.
