So, when I went to set up my small business, I headed straight over to the state department of commerce—you know, the folks who actually handle all the registration stuff—and I managed to grab a few minutes to pick the brain of one of their advisors...
Thanks for the reply... how on earth did you track that down? 😉
Hmm; alright, so Value-added tax is just sales tax; I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even be on the hook for it if my earnings stay under... maybe $85k $0.00? Or some ballpark figure like that, honestly.
Now here’s the real kicker: If I actually WANT to pay taxes (like, officially register because I need the paperwork for my residency permit), am I even ALLOWED to do that? Because this court ruling happened after some inspector insisted a musician HAD to pay, and then they ended up deciding they didn't have to...
I actually registered as a street performer for tax purposes back when I was in Switzerland... though I'm thinking their whole system works a little differently over there.
Hmm.
😉
Hey everyone,
So, I figured I’d jump in here with a bit of a situation... I'm a foreign national (originally from Switzerland) and an artist; basically, I busk on the streets, playing my own songs and singing. I already checked in with the local police about how to get a residency permit (I need to file for temporary stay by May 12th, since that’s when my 90-day limit for busking without a license runs out). Since one of the requirements is having "sufficient means of support," I pretty much have to find a way to officially register my gig... and from what I've gathered, that would mean setting up a small business or a sole proprietorship.
Someone is actually looking into whether a street performer can even be registered as a small business, or if they’d classify me as an entertainer or something else entirely; in the meantime, I wanted to see if anyone here has dealt with this, or if you know any artists who have successfully gone the small business route?
Thanks

Gary Kelly9, you really think I’m going to fall for that little stunt you just pulled... honestly, the audacity is almost impressive if it wasn't so incredibly predictable... kaže:
Honestly, the pain is just relentless... like, I take a pill and even after an hour, it only hits some baseline level where I can actually tolerate it, but the actual agony is still right there, pulsing while I’m just lying here... and the second I try to get up to hit the bathroom or grab a bite to eat, it’s like nothing happened and the intensity just spikes right back to where it started. On that first day, I am basically a total vegetable, completely incapable of functioning... then for the next two days, the pain stays constant, just more manageable, I guess... and it just keeps cycling like that...
Gary Kelly9, I’m just sitting here thinking about how some people really outdo themselves when it comes to making things complicated for absolutely no reason... like, honestly, you’d think after all this time we’d have figured out a simpler way to exist, but nope, here we are, still tripping over the same hurdles and acting like it's brand new every single time... it's almost impressive how much effort goes into being difficult... kaže:
My feet are absolutely ice cold right now, like I can't even feel them anymore...
Man, reading your posts actually makes me feel so bad for you! Honestly, my own aches and pains aren't quite that intense, but still... I get this super weird sensation in my legs sometimes too, almost like the blood just isn't circulating right down there...?
So, some guy at the CVS recommended I take Magnesium... since apparently, it’s supposed to be great for cramps... I mean, I think it helps a little bit, but honestly, I'm not totally sure... probably better to start taking it a few days before my period actually hits.
Ibuprofen 400mg does the trick for me.
Or maybe a warm heating pad...
Ugh, it’s killing me right now.... but whatever, I'll push through.
